Were on a ferry heading to the island of Alcatraz which at one time was a military fort and prison. Eventually it went federal then the Indians tried to make the island a cultural center. Today the island is part of the Golden Gate Recreational Park allot of the structures are in peril. This island is probably within the top 10 haunted locations in the world tales of ghost, red eyed entities, moans, prison cells slamming etc have been told dating back all the way to the 1800s. As historic as the island is its also very alluring and mysterious!
Although no autopsies were performed at this morgue the island had its fair share of deaths. Back in the 1800s 45 civil war soldiers died some were even tortured. This morgue however was built for those who died in federal prison from murders, riots, illness and natural causes. Above the morgue is the main cell house which is a massive building designed to hold its prisoners. The main prison house has administrative offices, library, dining room, kitchen and shower room. We are about to enter it and get ready to investigate the prison and its hauntings.

This part of the prison is the dining room and kitchen. The prisoners ate what the guards had some claim that Alcatraz had the best food out of any prison. It was a big area which would house around 300 prisoners more then often they called this place time square. Sometimes theatrical performances would be held in the dining room as well.
The prison cells were very small with no windows which composed of solitary, segregation then your typical blocks like you see in this video. The prisoners had basic necessities although the prison was cold and at night the men would shiver. The cell house had three stories worth of cells divided up by four aisles. Behind the cells were a tunnel system which eventually was the prisons greatest flaw as men would go through the air vents climb up to the roof using its pipes and off the island.

I only had a few minutes to investigate the hospital so this video is a bit rushed and I had to cut it short sorry. The rooms are very dark and its extremely cold here. Their is many patient rooms along with an operating room however they are either empty or just pitch dark. Al Capone spent sometime here as he was ill along with many other famous prisoners. If their was an attempted murder on you caused by a shiv you were sent here. The hospital is rumored to be one of the more haunted places on the island we were lucky enough to see it.
This hall you are seeing me walk down is the hospital ward with rooms on both side. The hall eventually comes on out to a stairwell leading down into the main prison block area. Again I had very little time to tour and investigate the hospital. If you pay close attention to the video you will see the guard/ranger with his hand on the light switch getting ready to close up for the night. I had permission to be here and explore but only with about 5 minutes of time to do so unfortunately.

In this video we are heading down cell blocks A past the library into the control room and visitation center. Eventually I head outside at a place called Eagle Square which contains the lighthouse and great views of San Francisco. The camera goes out of focus when I head outdoors I have no idea but I fix it the last few seconds of the video so you can see a clear night video of what San Fran looked like from the island. I may have knocked the camera out of focus when I was trying to record EVPs and take EMFs at the same time of filming. This is the downside to being an under staffed paranormal group most of the work gets done by me and me only.
This harbor is the only way in and out onto the island. Notice the guard tower beyond that is Sally Port which at one time contained a moat guarding the fort with giant gates. In front of me is residential building 64 which at one time was a barracks for military soldiers and eventually prison guards families. The harbor is one of the oldest areas on the island as over the years many vessels have docked here.

Nightvision video leaving the rock as we pull further and further away. At night the island is much more dismal and haunting looking as the American flag ripples in the wind. When I left I had more questions then I did answers and hope to some day return when we can bring in better equipment, gear and spend more time on the island working with the mysteries that it holds.
