This segment is my spoken report on the Bigfoot experiences I had up at a place called Showers Lake during our first expedition. It discusses strange vocalizations, Bigfoot lore, evidence, tree banging and the dangerous we encountered while hiking over Red Peak into this remote lake basin. It also talks about three minutes of sheer terror as two to three snarling, growling and large creatures moved on in trapping us against Showers Lake.

The beginning of the climb goes over Red Ridge and near Red Peak. It was early morning the moon was still out and we were in for an additive surprise element that being snow. From the hike up to Red Ridge the Elephants Back, Caples Lake and Round Top Peak were all visible. All areas we have hiked and explored covered in the crispness of early dawn.

When you think about it when you reach the top of the ridge your nearly at 10k so the view from here is absolutely stellar. I figured once we made it to the ridge we would encounter less snow which was not the case no less once you reach the ridge it does level out then you make your descent into the Showers Lake basin!

I thought this was a bit strange a three toed track like something placed its foot straight into the snow real quickly. It might be nothing at all or it might be something substantial its hard to say. I document anything I find in the sierras just so we can log it with our viewers and for our own research. This area is vast you can go in many directions to various peaks and locations within the Carson Pass.

At dawn the snow was still cold enough to butt sled on and I was not doing it because I could not descend. I was doing it for fun and I have to say if I knew there was going to be all this snow id strapped onto me a saucer sled and took it all the way down to the bottom. Granted walking through this had its very slippery moments so when all else fails ride it out right?

This is Meiss Lake as you can see right now it is frozen over most of the old wood post from the cattle ranch are also under snow. This is one of the most shallow warmest lakes in the high sierras however it does not look so warm now does it? The Meiss family in the 1800's had plenty of water for their cattle to graze here.

When we arrived at the Meiss Ranch the snow was rather high and some drifts reached the roof of both the barn and homestead. Back in the 1800's you could see why the family only cattle ranched here in the warmer months. When the snow is gone this basin is rather lush with wild flowers, foliage, flowing creeks etc. We have been here before but we never seen it under snow.

You literally have to have some wild man inside of you to traverse this basin in the cooler months. If I was going to find our monster tracks or any sort of evidence I would have to become just like Sasquatch. Meandering offbeat into the Eldorado National Forest and being very thorough would be our best offense in finding proof that giants roam this land.

Their are multiple paths within this lake basin the problem is when its under snow their are no paths and this time of year is when the bears come out. It would be a difficult trek of 5 miles in and 5 miles out through deeper snow with each step. As the morning warmed up so did the snow thus we had to instead push through it rather then walk on top of the ice.

Not to far away from Showers Lake is a tributary of the Truckee River actually it is part of the river itself. During the summer one can see trout swimming in the river but during this hike most of it was iced over we would have to tread very lightly believe me when I say that.

The hardest part of the hike would be to find the lake since it was under snow and ice. Right now all we were doing is hiking through the national forest surrounded by cliffs and mountains on every side. This was the moment I knew I was not alone I heard a rock hit a tree three times cam did not pick it up so that is why we went out in May to get a better one for the future. I felt watched here something was off something was lurking in the woods watching.

The banging on the trees began to increase and get closer something was in the woods. My son looks to his left which is eastward and to my right. You can see concern on the kids faces because the sounds continue to move in closer to us without any explanation. My camera did not pick them up it only has a close range which is why we picked up a better one recently for this reason.

This is the 3 minutes of terror I was referring to in the epilogue granted the cams did not pick up anything I ran two HD cams at the same time because I literally thought something was going to come out of the woods and get us. I heard some tree banging, quiet vocalizations or what sounded like some unknown language. We were surrounded on the North, South and Eastern side being pushed towards the shores of Showers Lake. Where would we go? What was in the woods snarling, growling and snapping branches? Was it Americas Great Ape? Bigfoot! Unfortunately the cam I was using did not pick up any of the tree banging. I think because its microphone is only made to pick up sound within a small radius however another investigator who was back at the Carson Pass had a similar experience to ours.

This was one of the only dry patches of land that we could warm up at on the lake which resides on the western side of this giant lake basin. Its very easy to lose feeling in your extremities when your using them to climb in this case my son on the first trek in was experiencing loss of feeling in his toes so during our picnic at the lake we used foot warmers and sun dried our socks which worked problem solved! Big thank you to Mike Dijital for donating the hand and foot warmers to our society we really appreciate it.

After our lunch we would continue our journey north around the icy shores of Showers Lake. I did not find much evidence but then again the entire lake is frozen so no access to water which makes sense as to why. I did actually find a set of tracks on a dry patch near the shore that were deep which are in this video but will remain as inconclusive evidence no less as we cannot determine if they were made by man or beast. They were very deep so whatever made them had weight and the right foot was rather large actually much larger then my foot so in theory it is possible they were made by a possible Sasquatch.

Whether you realize it or not it only takes ONE mistakes that can lead to your demise especially when your deep in the wilderness not on any trails. DANGER lurks everywhere the ice is thin crossing the Truckee River which I almost broke through could have drowned or froze to death. Then you also have the threat of avalanche zones like in this clip where you see the snow just hanging by a thread atop of a ridge. So we had to tread lightly and carefully!

Things were looking very dismal on this expedition. It was beautiful clear skies with sun heading to Showers Lake. However on our trek back to the Carson Pass we were getting blasted with snow and sleet you can even see it on my camera lens. We went from 45 - 50 degrees to freezing temperatures in a matter of a minutes that is how quick the weather can change in this region so we must always be prepped for anything at anytime. Something wicked this way comes and its the type of weather that can creep up on you causing havoc for anyone hiking in the sierras.

This was the best find of the entire expedition a massive wide and 14" barefoot track in the snow. In this clip I take measurements of course high five the kids because we worked hard to find this track no trails. Strangely in 2013 I found a track of the same size not to far from the Meiss Cabins I believe whatever made this was made by the same creature. Sorry the audio is discombobulated in some of this clip the elements were really taking a toll on my cam. This is what you work so hard for exploring, hiking, climbing etc is that one shred of evidence that makes you scratch your head and well even my sons were quite excited about this discovery as you can see in this clip.

The storm that was coming from west to east developed within a matter of minutes. Trying to head south to outrun it really took a toll on us and even me. We had to try to stay ahead of the front as fog, ice, rain, snow, sleet and higher winds were moving in. Its hard to believe that during one expedition you can go from one extreme to the next one.

This is a good safety video to teach others about avalanche zones which I point out a few. Our team continues to ascend Red Ridge pay close attention as I look back towards Showers Lake the very dark storm low to the ground. We barely made it out of there the entire expedition was about trials and tribulations as we battled the elements as well as freezing temperatures. We had to tread careful around each avalanche zone avoiding them at all cost.

In this clip we really want to put mother nature into perspective. Were nearly 10k up the clouds are rolling in fierce some of them are just moving across the ridge line and nearby peaks. Granted their are some areas where there is no snow we were still not out of the woods. The high sierras have cost the lives of so many thrill seekers over the years an generally those that go up against it LOSE especially in this region.

When we made it to Reed Ridge which is just a few hundred feet below Red Peak we hit some blue skies at around 10k. At this point of the expedition we would descend down into the Eldorado National Forest and into the Carson Pass escaping the fierce storm coming through the area. It was a fine day full of thrills, adventure, danger and surprises. At this point in the expedition we nearly hiked through 10 miles of snow mission complete were going home! Sorry if the audio became garbled in part of this video again the cam took a beating and yes we replaced it at the end of May but no guarantees especially when you take your gear into a wet environment.

The extra mile of our hike came from us having to traverse the Carson Pass. The worst part of it is the speeding vehicles but we had to quickly get away from the storm and get to s much safer location. In this clip I meet up with Sue who is camping out at a public restroom lol and she even mentions hearing the tree banging. Always three steady bangs so I have to theorize that when she was alone in the forest waiting for us maybe she had a close encounter with a primate like creature at some point in time that day. Anyhow I talked about the expedition, we put our gear into the truck and everybody exchanges some high fives. Expedition One to Showers Lake completed!
