The Salt Springs Dam was built in 1929 finished by 1931 it stands over 300' in height and is designed to hold back the waters of the Mokelumne River. As you can see the water is extremely low thus inhibiting its ability to produce hydroelectric power. In the 1800s a wooden dam existed in its place but during a storm it broke wide open.	This truly is a million dollar view with great scenic backdrops of Calaveras, Sergeant and Hammer Domes. Surrounded by volcanic peaks and the pristine waters of the Salt Lake Reservoir from this vista point really allows you to take in the beauty that the Mokelumne wilderness offers the adventurer.

This is the boundary line between the ElDorado National Forest and the Mokelumne Wilderness. Once you enter the Mokelumne wilderness the terrain becomes very rugged full of sharp brush, volcanic rocks and steep terrain. This area is the heart of Bigfoot country allot of sightings are reported in this area.	This is a very rare site considering that seasonal falls generally only appear in the Spring these ones flow in the winter months. The snow melting generally derives from the peaks then flows down onto the rocks and eventually ends up back into the reservoir thus raising water levels.

A wood plank crosses one of the creeks in the wilderness then beyond that is a narrow land bridge that crosses over to an island. Crossing the wood plank is fairly easy to do however one wrong slip and that means your gear becoming wet which could turn out to be very bad. There are a few areas like this on the hike that you have to cross to follow the edge of the reservoir.	The following patch of woods that you see in this clip use to be an island which resided in the middle of the reservoir. People generally would boat out to it and have a picnic. Now you can just hike out there and look deep down to the very bottom of the reservoir which is barely a few feet deep. It is no longer an island just part of the canyon itself.

Something strange just happened and I just missed it by seconds. I was in the woods smoking a cigar and on my way back I heard Tammy talking to someone in the woods. I then turned on my camera to interview her and in this clip she tells you what she seen. It certainly was not the kids nor was it me we were off exploring so who was she talking to? A Ghost? Bigfoot? Shadowman? Strange things are amidst!! I know she was not talking to herself she seen something dark hiding in the woods.	This is a very dismal feeling to be standing at the bottom of the reservoir now just dry lake beds of mud and rocks. One can look up and see the island where Tammy is breaking at and we can clearly see were a couple hundred feet below lake level. Their is barely any water except a few shallow pools which are at a standstill.

When the dam was built loggers had cut down all the ancient forest and trees leaving stumps behind at the bottom of the Mokelumne Canyon. At one time the stumps graced the shoreline of the Mokelumne River and for decades they remained completely submerged by Salt Springs Reservoir so what you are seeing is something very rare.	This is what its like to hit rock bottom which really puts things into perspective of how small you are when you are the very bottom of the Mokelumne Canyon. At one time before the reservoir was formed this is what the ancient Indian tribes would have seen so to be able to stand at the very bottom is perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity.

When we were hiking on the sandy shores and rock climbing I looked up seen this blue spherical object hovering above us. There was a second UFO but I did not film it because everybody was waiting on me and it became obstructed by the cliffs. I seen the second UFO later but we were in the jeep. This UFO was quite low and seemed to be hovering directly over us that was the moment I realized that we were not alone and their was nothing we could do about it!	This 16 mile narrow grade climbs out of the Mokelumne Canyon and into the Eldorado National Forest. Not sure what is worst driving down it or out of it but no less their are some major cliffs and dropoffs along with many curves. I did film most of the journey out of here hoping to catch a glimpse of maybe Bigfoot running across the road instead all I caught were bats, insects and a rodent. Sometimes the hardest part of any journey is getting out alive this is the road of treachery!
