At one time before the gold rush the Deer Creek area was home to the Nisenan Tribe who had a village here. But when the gold rush occurred in 1949 miners came from all over to mine the gold out of Deer Creek which today still flows but it was eventually exhausted. Nevada City at one time had some of the richest mines in the region while hydraulic mining brought in quite a bit of gold the tunnels under the town were lucrative to which dozens of Chinese men were killed in when someone threw a stick of dynamite into the mine. In the early beginning they called this Deer Creek Dry Diggins and even Caldwell's Upper Store.
 
Nevada City is today a hippy town always has been which has over 90 preserved historic structures and multiple museums. It also has a asylum and even a couple cemeteries. I am going to take you on a journey above the town, backpacking in the Tahoe National Forest and even throughout this bustling town. You will see relics of the past and a mining camp where today a pond exist. Its a fully loaded adventure for all of you to get a taste of what Nevada City is about.
 
The fascinating thing about this bustling city is that it has years of bigfoot, UFO and ghostly happenings. Then again it sits in the middle of the lower sierras surrounding by dense forest for as far as the eyes can see. Like anytime it had its pandemics, travesties, mining accidents and years of historical figures. I mean even Mark Twain once held an event at the local theatre which still stands today.
 
I spent years eying the prize to visit here to do a story and project for our viewers so take a time out to really absorb this old gold rush mining town. Its one of the finest in the state because of how extensive it is so I wanted to give our viewers a Birdseye view of it as I take you above the city and along Deer Creek. You will even see a tree swing and a massive rope cable bridge which we cross along with foundations in the woods and an extensive gallery at the end of the documentary with music.
 
Your not looking at anything recent this was from 2016 my life was different back then as it is now. So when you look at the exploration your seeing not only my project but a different time in my life also. It is important to do Nevada City because there are so many other locations I have done nearby in the area so Nevada City is a focal point in the region. 
 
Nevada City at one time had over 10k residents in fact it held the county seat for many years. However, the town was plagued by fires so it had multiple fire departments and its most haunted motel was The National. Every location has a ghost story or some historical significance making it one of the largest active museums in the state of California.
