Subject:   Our Halloween Paranormal Adventure In Nevada City California 10/21 -10-23 2016 Date: 11/1/2016 12:21:04 PM Pacific Daylight Time From: LordOfThyNight@aol.com To: ParanormalBuffalo@yahoogroups.com, ParanormalGhostSociety@googlegroups.com, paranormalghostsociety@yahoogroups.com, ParanormalGhostSocietyConnections@yahoogroups.com, TheParanormalGhostSociety@yahoogroups.com, SupernaturalFlorida@yahoogroups.com, ParanormalCalifornia@yahoogroups.com, ParanormalNevada@yahoogroups.com, Paranormalflorida@yahoogroups.com, sierraparanormal@yahoogroups.com, PGSPhantoms@yahoogroups.com Every year I try to bring our viewers something extra special around Halloween. The last few years we did some work up in Virginia City but not this year as this year I wanted to take on Nevada City one of the greatest boom towns in northern California. It was the hydraulic gold mining capital of the west really which led to a city of great wealth, history, prominent individuals and even tales of ghosts. I am a man of culture therefore I do not just seek out the paranormal but I try to be a part of something more. I try to live it therefore its good to experience any of these semi ghost towns by spending time in them. I want to drink the local beer, talk to some folks, walk the alleys, explore locations etc. Therefore we would be taking on a high volume of investigations and explorations as we do every month only this time twice as much due to it being October. The first time I learned about Nevada City was a few years ago when I watched a story on the news which talked about Bigfoot coming right up to the edge of this town. You have to understand that Nevada City resides deep in the Tahoe National Forest at about 3k above sea level. Its a bit remote historic homes, structures, mines etc all reside within the woods. So there is a bit of a creepy vibe here honestly I did not feel as welcome here as I do in Carson or Virginia City. We would take on numerous locations such as the Nevada County Asylum, Nevada City Pioneer Cemetery, St. Canice Catholic Cemetery, Downtown Nevada City, Haunted National Exchange Hotel, Firehouse #1 Museum, Sugarloaf Mountain, Hirschman Pond, Deer Creek, Ghost Town of North Bloomfield, Hiller Tunnel and Malakoff Diggins. We also would fit in between time for Bierwagen’s Donner Trail Fruit Farm which also is a truly amazing place and they have a really nice pumpkin patch for the family. Almost every location we did was in Nevada City except for the pumpkin farm and the ghost town high up in the sierras. I love this area but have only worked with it a few times this year so its new frontier for us. Everything out here has a ghost story or some connection to Bigfoot. With the leaves changing colors it was a nice time of year to get out here and do some exploring to find out if we could seek out the strange. The first day we arrived I rented a cabin in the woods it was quaint allot of old antique furniture and a place where I could crash or do research in quiet. At least I thought that but ill never stay at the Nevada City Inn again which ill get into later in the reports. I was okay with it I guess but there just seemed to be allot of people hanging out for fun in the parking lot. Nevada City honestly is full of hobos, meth heads and transients. I wish I could say otherwise but as an explorer you tend to come across this kind of thing wish I hadn't but I did. The inn and cabin staff was not even around finally when they did arrive at the office they kind of came across as unfriendly. My room had allot of things broken it had a kitchen but the cupboards were busted and the master bedroom door was off its hinges. It was nice to have a cabin in the woods its in a quiet part of town but in reality most of the time when I get a room its just to charge my gear up as well as rest my head for a few hours. I had a porch I could sit on smoke some bud at night maybe drink a brew and relax. So it had its perks but the TV had to be from 1985 and it was not even in the bedroom. After unpacking I spent my first evening driving downtown Nevada City. Everything is so nicely decorated for Halloween lights everywhere, bustling sidewalks, little cafes and shops. Its a pretty little town and trust me folks do what I did walk it and you will feel as if you entered a time machine. I was not sure what id do our first night since it was getting dark and we arrived in the evening. But I did stop at the Stonehouse Brewery to try to attempt an investigation only to find out they were closed also renovating. The brewery has a tragic tale of over 40 miners who died in an explosion in the tunnels beneath it. Yes its one of the most haunted breweries on the west coast. Maybe someday ill return here and talk the owner into giving me access into the tunnels. I generally can get access to quite a few places other people cant trust me. But no less we spent sometime walking around the brewery and enjoying its history. Its just this massive stone building that greets downtown. I really wanted some ales and to eat here so it was a let down but what can you do? We decided to go eat a hearty meal at Lumberjacks Restaurant. I ate here before but at a different one up near Susanville so we thought what the hell why not since they give you large proportions. I had a wonderful savory pot roast dinner, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, clam chowder and a fresh hot load of baked bread. I have to say it was a decent meal wish they gave me more pot roast but I had eaten enough that I knew if I died in that asylum in the morning id die at least having one decent last meal lol. Nevada City California
Nevada
City was one of the wealthiest gold mining towns during the gold rush
more or less it was the top hydraulic mining capital of California
before it was outlawed because it destroyed the ecosystem. It has a
long history of Chinese mining history as most of the China men who
came here worked the underground while the white Europeans operated
giant monitors above ground and hunting down that placer gold.
Allot
of the tunnels under the town still exist today that is why most places
are haunted. The most common haunting found in Nevada City is people
hearing strange noises underground such as banging, disembodied voices
and movement. I have done my fair share of research and found out that
quite a few men died in those tunnels back in the 1800s including an
explosion that killed over 20 China Men.
Its
the strangest feeling when you walk the streets of Nevada City I mean
honestly I felt like I stepped back in time. You have buildings from
three different eras all found amongst one another. You might have an
old wood firehouse next to a brick building then a Victorian mansion a
few structures over. Old lamppost line the streets, many of the shops
have white flickering lights and little cafes are everywhere.
There
is a park downtown it has some mining equipment including a giant
monitor which basically in simple terms is a water cannon. Their are
quite a few flowers in the park and plaques. Its not uncommon in
Virginia City to see someone reading a book under a tree, someone
playing a guitar or taking a nap on a bench trust me. This town really
is a hippie community it has been for over 30 years so your going to
see allot of people with dread locks who are into Reggae, tarot card
readers and allot of free love here. I seen a few women professing free
love LMAO.
There
are mansions that surround downtown entirely some date back to the
Victorian era and they are gorgeous. Their are two old churches
downtown, brewery, haunted hotel, saloons, restaurants and a bunch of
little shops you can get all sorts of cool stuff at. Tammy and I went
into the candy shop I had a dark chocolate almond cluster. They make
all sorts of chocolates its totally amazing. There also is a cool
horror shop where we bought some Halloween costumes at and I bought me
a new top hat to wear during my Nevada City ghost hunts. I also picked
up my alien mask which is bad ass all my friends love that thing plus
we would use it for a prop for some of our comical stuff.
I
wish I could have done a better paranormal investigation downtown but
honestly their is just to many people. This is a bustling town much
like its sister boom town known as Virginia City for example. There
really allot alike just your typical historic mining town dating back
to the gold rush. However, Nevada City is really preserved to the max
your not going to find really anything abandoned here compared to other
semi ghost towns in the gold rush belt.
Nevada
City sits in the sierra foothills at around 2,800' give or take so it
stays fairly nice all year around. The Chinese had a huge presence in
the area back in the 1800's and used underground tunnels to get around
town due to hostilities or at least segregation. There are two historic
firehouses downtown one made out of wood the other one brick.
We
went to watch a bluegrass band play at the downtown park it was pretty
fun. I am one of these paranormal investigators who likes to partake in
the local culture such as drinking ale, meeting folks, enjoying music
etc. If your going to come here its a must you do these things trust
me! When we arrived walking around downtown they had a farmers market
with vegetable stands, antiques, pies, wines etc. I mean their are
allot of ranches out here and vineyards so anything you buy is going to
be original not some store bought shit! lol
I
am sure at night the alleys, sidewalks and many of the shops are full
of ghosts from the past no doubt. I wish I could have came here at
night late but we were simply just to busy to fit it in with the asylum
and other locations. But what I will say is I had the honor to
investigate the old Firehouse and the National Hotel downtown which are
both really notable haunted locations.
The
one thing I love about this historic town is that it resides in the
middle of the Tahoe National Forest. There is a tree downtown that is
enormous a few hundred years old perhaps? My interest grew here when I
read about bigfoot basically coming right up to the edge of the woods
which surround this jewel.
There
are allot of homeless in town one of them was being apprehended by
police not sure what that was about maybe public intoxication. I know
there are allot of hobos and transients in the town because if you
happen to hike in the woods you will find camps. Some of the camps are
abandoned but piles of trash, food, ripped tents, sleeping bags,
plastic etc are abundant which is sickening. Ill get into that more in
my report of Sugarloaf Mountain though.
I
did not feel as welcome here as other places business owners were real
friendly to me as they asked me where I lived etc. But some of the
people downtown or locals can be very rude. I had at least four or five
people sit there at cafes or downtown just staring me down giving me
extremely dirty looks. One of them was some dude who shaved his head
but a few dreadlocks. It is not like Virginia City where people are so
friendly and warm towards you. I did not feel welcome in Nevada City
its easy to read peoples body language and know your not welcomed. I am
not your typical guy I have rings on almost all my fingers, tats, long
hair, black nails and wear darker colors. But I seen weirder here folks
believe me lol!
There
are groups of homeless people more then often you might see a girl with
four or five guys with backpacks just roughing it downtown. I bet those
folks know of some good haunts no doubt being they live in the woods
and spend there days downtown. Their is allot to see because while you
have Main Street you also have a bunch of side streets with many jewels
so allot to see indeed! Its not uncommon to see classic cars here and
some of the streets are so narrow you feel like your in Italy lol.
I
kind of felt like I was in some movie downtown is really nice and then
on the hills behind it are old mansions from the 1800's. You cant go
wrong here I wish I could roam the tunnels under the city but most
business do not let anyone down there because of safety issues. But
from what I know tunnels are everywhere downtown so wherever you walk
are remnants of the Northern Mine. Plaques are nearly almost on every
building and it really is an amazing gold rush town which has its early
beginnings in 1850's.
The
other thing I did not like is that it appears the town has a meth or
drug problem. Tammy went in a restroom found splattered blood on the
wall which looks like someone pulled a hypodermic needle out of there
arms. Hell at one of the local restaurants I found a needle in a
restroom just laying up on a towel rack. If you roam around the
asylum near downtown same thing. That kind of takes away from the
experience a little because some people are shady or up to know good
therefore not sure id leave my vehicle unlocked anywhere just a heads
up.
I
would eventually focus my attention on the National Hotel and Nevada
City Firehouse #1 Museum. While half of the investigation and urban
exploration focused on downtown's historic structures. Within walking
distance are three sites that we would journey at to fully experience
some of the cities best kept nature secrets. Those being Sugarloaf
Mountain which overshadows the city, historic Deer Creek trail which
has ancient petroglyphs and Hirshman Pond. All locations contain
history but it also would allow me to escape the ghost of Nevada City
leaving urban life to chase possibly bigfoot in the woods beyond the
cities walls. So in reality you get the best of both worlds and so if
the bustle becomes overwhelming you can grab your backpack fading off
into the Tahoe National Forest.
Sugarloaf Mountain
When
I had arrived here a man was flying this drone told me he use to part
at the peak. There is a path its not labeled its hard to find. The town
brochure marks hiking areas but its vague therefore its easy to miss.
It was nearly sunset we had a long day but why not finish it with some
nice scenic views. My goal was to hike to the top drink beer, smoke
weed and party that is it. I was done for the day seeking out the
paranormal more or less it was celebration time.
There
is two trails the first one is below the more common used path above.
The path above is more like a narrow road to the top. The lower path
dead ends at three different trails and it gets confusing. One is very
steep of a climb till you reach the upper trail. Do not go alone here
ladies PLEASE I found multiple transient and hobo camps here with signs
of drug use. I do not want to see anybody get sexually assaulted or to
have some little kids get hurt. I been doing this shit for awhile so
when I tell people stay out I mean it seriously!
We
found men camping in the woods not hikers but homeless. There is
multiple hidden camps in brush with can goods, plastic, clothing,
garbage, mattresses, condoms, ripped sleeping bags and the list
goes on and on. Some areas in the woods are landfills. One camp made a
homemade stone wall blocking the trail so people turn around. Its just
not safe and people hide in the woods watching. I seen on the ground a
poster of a missing older man found here which tells me that this may
have been one of the last places he went to!
This
is a popular spot but folks jog alone here and hike alone I seen it
with my eyes was in disbelief. Yeah I go into asylums and chase
monsters alone but if you want to fear something fear the person who
nobody knows hiding in the woods stalking you down. We ended up going
through some primitive areas on the mountain some of them trails have
such thick red brush and foliage that it feels like you entered a
tunnel. Even if you wanted to leave the path you cant foliage is to
thick.
We
climbed up this wash to the trail which had a metal sign saying
Sugarloaf Mtn Trail. Its not a far hike maybe 15 minutes but it climbs
to the summit which is rather flat. Their are benches up on top for
relaxing its worth checking out. The peak sits in the middle of the
Tahoe National Forest so when you stand on it you see the high sierras
in the distance, dense forest and great views of Nevada City below.
There
was a group of folks they were younger then me but were to scared to
take a ride on this tree swing. Basically once you grab on sitting on
the wood slat you jump right off the steep edge of the peak and it
swings out high up off the ground perhaps 25' in the air. My son did it
but he is light I am sure if I got on it the thing would have broke and
id had a nice fall then tumbled down the mountain. Its safe to swing on
but A. Hold on tight and B. Know that if it breaks you probably will
break a leg unless your young and flexible.
We
had a nice picnic on top then caught the sunset and boy was it orange
as ever with pink hues all above haunted Nevada City. I never take this
kind of thing for granted either! Jarrod and I we shot BB guns also put
on costumes ran around. It was a great time but more or less this is a
place overran by transients and kids going to party. When I was there
we saw a few people come up there was some hippies praying to the sun
god or something doing some ritual. Women come up here to dance and
couples come up here to mess around.
By
the time I reached my truck it was dark as night out and if you think
these woods are not spooky at night here think again. The paths are
very narrow to a degree you cant even see the sky the trees grow so
close together shading the trails. Whether people know it or not this
is bigfoot country they are up here and back in the day even the miners
were aware these creatures existed. There was an area which looked like
a foundation I am sure some of the miners resided on this mountain then
walked to the mines each day.
When
we were hiking back it was almost dark as night we seen a few couples
heading on up. I think this place is more like a lovers lookout point
ya know go up there make out a little. I remember seeing something
moving in the woods it was dark and tall. I thought oh shit is that
bigfoot so I went around some trees to check it out and here is this
guy metal detecting in the foliage it was like WTF. The guy had me then
again he had all camo on and at dusk to me it would just look like
something dark standing tall in the brush. That something turned out to
be a man but what a crazy turn of events lol.
The
trail is a part of the history surrounding Nevada City so its important
to hike around explore the entire area not just downtown and I seen
allot here so worth visiting for sure. I was getting pretty
hungry  we did allot of hiking that day so I took the family to
Panda Express had Walnut Shrimp and it was freaking bomb. You have to
eat good on these trips throw in some laughs about the adventure and
its a fine damn day right?
When
I arrived back at my cabin there was this punk ass dude verbally
abusing this young girl bad. When he seen me pull up in my big truck he
fled ran in his cabin locked the doors. Because he probably knew I was
staring at him talking to this lady this way and it did not make me
happy. I stay out of peoples business but to a certain degree. My family
and I ate our food watched television. I was charging my paranormal
gear for the night which btw takes me a half of night sometimes so I
get very little rest on these investigations. They go to bed the dude
in the cabin next to us starts up.
He
starts choking the girl, hitting her, shit is hitting the wall and she
is crying because he told her he will kill her if she opens up her
mouth one time. I heard the whole thing then I called the office the
lady sounded Middle Eastern so her English was not the best. When
I called of course you can see people running all over the place like
chickens with there heads cut off upstairs in the manager suite its
like WTF man call the cops. I have nothing against anyone owning a
hotel you can be purple or an alien but Christ we do not live in the
middle east this is America therefore this is not Sharia Law they did
not care this woman was in peril or playing it off like its okay if
some woman is being abused. If I did not have my son with me I probably
would have given this man justice but guess who would go to jail or be
the bad guy? ME because I chose to do something nobody else did
therefore the Nevada City Inn will never get my business again because
its obvious they cant and that my friends in bad business!
Instead
of calling the police as I told them to do the lady at the front desk
calls this abusive moron and he lies on the phone. She waited over 15
minutes to call this cabin of course by then the guy could have killed
this woman. I hate people like this who just ignore the problem because
the money is more relevant. If someone is being killed at your hotel
you would think you would want to call the sheriff directly up the
street. Next time this happens I wont call no front desk ill just kick
the mothers door down and unleash I am DONE! I tried to be cordial
did not want to call the cops then have this guy damage my truck or
whatever. Sometimes me being cordial simply does not work how can it we
live in a society full of lunatics?
 This
guys tells the front office when management calls sorry my father had a
stroke and were working through it. No welfare check on the girl no
cops to see if she was okay NOTHING! Honestly folks if you ran a hotel
and some guy was killing some girl in one of your rooms would you
call the killer saying hey is everything okay in your room? NO of
course the dude is going to lie! I had to do an investigation myself
only to find out this is not some missing girl or hostage but rather
this dudes GF who for 10 minutes would be all fine talking to him then
he would go ape shit on her again it went on for hours. Then she would
be fine again and they would be hanging out then minutes later more
abuse. They both are at fault in my opinion she should have had this
dude arrested last thing anyone needs is there child hearing domestic
violence after hiking all day long.
It took EVERYTHING
for me not to knock on the door and really throwing this dude through a
window. If that failed believe me I have plenty of nice weapons
including a sword and a cane with a nice skull at the end of
it That dude needed his ass beat but see its sad others did
not attend this trip this guy needed to be sat down. I tried
to get folks to meet me up here nobody replied on facebook or google
despite I have friends who live up that way. I am so disheartened by
the huge lack of interest from others in the paranormal community and
more then often I put myself at risk because I do mostly everything
alone. Its strange to have gone into the local asylum alone left
untouched and unharmed. Yet around every turn evil lurks but its
not ghosts rather humans that simply lack control or stability in
our society. The west can make or break you even today not much has
changed you still have lawlessness unfortunately time to time. Allot of
drama in these little towns which at one time were major mining cities
therefore when I think of the wild west I think of it as the good, the
bad and the ugly.
The
girl reminded me of my mom you see I grew up with an abusive stepfather
he use to hurt my mom for years not a nice man heavy drinker. It is a
sad world my friends that we live in. I see things on my journeys
I
should not sometimes for example maybe an alien or bigfoot or evil in
the night or some lunatic in one of these towns passing through. My
journeys have been stellar but that night I did not sleep and I felt
sadness in my heart. I work so hard on chasing nature to preserve it
through my photographer even surround myself with it. But so many
people are just miserable they have no idea how to live or be civilized
so that we can better society. It is hard sometimes to be a paranormal
investigator I lost a friend to this but we make sacrifices I just hope
by the end of the day our friends and members appreciate that.
I
was up very early I was also outside smoking my pipe. I tried to leave
that bad experience behind me. Our day would involve a creepy ghost
town, cemetery, pumpkin patch and a few historical hiking trails.
Hirschman Pond
Behind
the town in the forest is a nice little trail with big granite rocks
with moss on them, beautiful trees and even a pond. The trail actually
runs for miles but the most historic part of it is where two brothers
had operated a hydraulic mining operation. It kind of feels like your
in some fairytale as there are swamps, giant sharp rocks, creepy trees,
hills and even a creek.
The
trail meanders therefore you can never see to far ahead. There is a
cute little farm house with a garden in the woods. It was early so we
hiked past it quietly. I mean the sun was just coming up so the woods
were dismal a bit dark actually.
I
seen some signs of possible transients or homeless camping out here. I
just hate seeing pollution and people having no respect for the land.
If you want to live in the woods that is fine but clean up your
shit and do not creep me out in the woods that is all I ask lol.
The
pond was actually a tunnel to drain the water that was carved out of
the cliffs by giant monitors or water cannons. When you get to the pond
today it looks natural but there is turtles, geese, ducks and all sorts
of other unique wildlife. An older man hiking told me about the turtles
how in the spring they bask on the rocks here.
There
is this hill that overlooks the pond and even a bench. I also found
some concrete foundation its hard to say what stood there. They have a
monitor cannon on site its rusty but it sits beside the pond so others
can understand what they were and perhaps how they were used.
Overshadowing the pond are giant cliffs at one time they were mere
hills. But the brothers using there water cannons washed away the
debris, rock and earth therefore they are not natural formations. When
the out tunnel collapsed the area flooding forming the pond there is a
couple creeks also some seasonal that wash into the pond thus
continuing to be a habitat for bird life here.
Jarrod
and I were looking for a smaller pond when we found some dues backpack.
Then dude came running out of the woods whistling at us. We were not
stealing it we thought something happened to this person. Lets face it
we do not leave our packs very far away and either should other hikers.
Sometimes you have the backpack and the person themselves gets lost or
vanishes so I always look out for others as id hope others to do the
same for me.
I
seen a sign for a missing cat but the more I roamed the trails around
hiking trails I also seen a few missing persons signs. I believe not to
far from here we seen a sign for an older gentlemen who vanished then a
younger prettier girl with kids. I also seen a flyer for a missing
teenage girl which is concerning. The last thing you hate to see hiking
on a trail and seeing a missing persons sign nailed to a tree.
Sometimes they are on the ground or attached to a kiosk. I seen a pole
that had a missing persons at pioneer park nearby and along Deer Creek.
Where do these people go? Did they vanish somewhere here? I know their
are mountain lion and yes bear too. But I worry that some people who
live in the woods off the land may be hostile and be responsible for
the missing. Then again who is to say bigfoot encounters do not turn
deadly this creature seems to have a foothold over the area.
The
pond is a must to see half of Nevada City is historic but the other
half is the nature that you find around here. I guess I have my own way
of doing investigations because I try to incorporate nature and the
outdoors into what we do often. Everything comes as a package deal this
is so close to downtown yet you feel so far away from it all that is
how I describe it.
Deer Creek
Deer
Creek is where the first gold in Nevada City during the gold rush was
discovered. It was also home to the Nisenan Indians  Their
was a village here then of course miners came in built the camp and
town in the 1800s. The Chinese worked around the clock along the creek
panning for gold which eventually transitioned to hydraulic mining.
The
Deer Creek Tribute trail goes for about 8 miles I would not have allot
of time to hike on it but enough to really embrace the back country of
Nevada City. As a matter in fact if you wanted to you could just
backpack from the pond out to this location. There are three areas you
can access Deer Creek but also if your not local you probably will not
know about some of the more hidden trails that might take you out to
this creek.
We
started off above this canyon its where Deer Creek flows and trust me
it was flowing. Supposedly if you decide to hike the trail you will see
mining equipment, historical points of interest which talk about the
Chinese who came to the area and even native American petroglyphs.
Unfortunately I did not see anything like this but the forest here is
very beautiful and canyon. If I had more time perhaps id hiked the
entire trail problem is we had only a few hours to get to North
Bloomfield and Hiller Tunnel before sundown. One of the downsides to
exploring this time of year the sun goes down early then you cant even
see where your at in the wilderness.
I
love the Deer Creek area its hilly, variety of trees and allot of
wildlife here. The trail actually runs through part of downtown also
and up near Pioneer Park. I decided to park at the primitive part of
the trail so we could cross over a fairly large suspension bridge which
I begin jumping up and down on making my family all queasy lol. Its
kind of a long ways down so if you do not like hikes do not cross this
bridge.
I
found somebody's turquoise colored cape at the end of the other bridge
folder over on a railing. Maybe somebody took it off for pictures and
forgot it? I do not like to find clothing in rural places just like the
other day I found some girls expensive makeup in the middle of the
woods not even on a trail. Sometimes when someone goes missing all that
is left are there shoes or in this case a cape. But you get the idea it
has to make you wonder who would leavesomething like that.
The
creek is kind of far below some areas are drop offs be careful one
misstep and you will get hurt here. We found a few offshoots along the
trail did not take to many of them but did try to look around. This is
bigfoot country so we always want to seek out tracks or even something
strange. I did not find tracks but we found this one dirt patch with
claw marks and signs of digging. What was it? I have no idea maybe a
raccoon or something. Hell maybe it was bigfoot trying to eat roots and
was digging with his fingernails.
There
were a few hikers well now and then but on our way back a group of
twenty people were hiking together most elderly. Tourism is huge in
this area you see tour buses and groups of people. So honestly its not
my type of hiking but there are parts of the trail you can hear a pin
drop. You can hear the rapids of the creek, birds etc. The trail goes
up and down all the time its just a very nice gem.
Near
the bridge are petroglyphs I did not see them their is allot of
volcanic rock with moss in the area. They could be anywhere not to say
though the trail is not haunted. Back in the day this area was full of
mines and natives hunting for deer in the woods. I tried to visit a
place called Pioneer Park nearby its a few miles from where we hiked in
at. I wanted to see the other half of Deer Creek.
When
we arrived here at first I could not find the trail its actually across
the road but no less Deer Creek cuts right through this beautiful
place. The park has a huge barn or shed which allot of wagons from the
1800's including a fire wagon, stage coach and ox cart even. Its very
nice here but on a pole was a photo of a beautiful young mother holding
her kid that is said to be missing. Like I said after what I seen in
the woods I am deeply concerned. I do not mind the homeless but I also
worry that if somebody is a criminal and hiding in the woods that they
might decide to break the law because they know they cant be connected
with anything living in the bush basically. On a wood post in the woods
someone left a mans hoodie so who knows what happened to the owner
of that piece of clothing as well!
My
family was tired so I decided to hike a second part of Deer Creek alone
crossing the road going up into the woods. There is a couple trails one
of them took me right downtown which I turned around at but the tribute
trail does taking you through the cities historic district on foot. I
followed some other trail which took me to the back of this old
building and above the Stone House Brewery. I actually found a
foundation back here and seen a stone wall. I believe that if you want
to see some of the towns secrets you have to explore a little. Through
the woods I also seen high up on the hill the old Red Castle Inn which
at first looked abandoned because the back side is very weathered. The
inn has a long history of ghost stories but recently the owners retired
so I had to cancel that investigation. Also not far away is Firehouse
#4 much smaller then its sister firehouses up the road!
I
did not have allot of time we had still to get out to the pumpkin patch
and still get to lunch. I took my family up to Bierwagen’s Donner Trail
Fruit Farm a gem hidden up in the foothills just outside of Grass
Valley and Nevada City. This is a happy place big old trees, country
house, animals everywhere, country store, pumpkin patch and rolling
hills surrounded by forest. They have tables and chairs everywhere so
you can order food. In this case we ordered homemade pumpkin pie and
glazed hot apple fritters. At the country store I bought there apple
cider straight out of their own orchards. They sell fresh fruit, jams
and other homemade delights.
It
was pretty busy as you can imagine Halloween is approaching. But you
can grab a cart with wheels then hike out to there pumpkin patch which
resides on the side of this field that overlooks the ranch below. We
picked out a few pumpkins I have to say their pumpkins have some pretty
large seeds inside if you like baking them on Halloween. I had plans to
make garlic and brown sugar seeds this year so they will come in hand.
I can even put the seeds on some pumpkin muffins while baking them oh
how sweet!
We
enjoyed climbing around trying to find the biggest and best pumpkin. I
wish they had bigger ones this year I did not find as large as one but
no less there prices are reasonable and you can even take a hay ride
here. I was wearing my mask, kids are running everywhere, some drink
wine others like me are running down the hill with a cart of pumpkins
its just magic. Its a happy place filled with laughter and to see happy
little kids picking out there own pumpkins is really lovely. I felt
happy to take my family here each year we try to go to new pumpkin
farms and ranches. Bierwagen's did not disappoint besides there is
allot of historic found here such as old wagons and pioneer relics of
the past.
After
tasting all sorts of delights, packing up the pumpkins and enjoying
some hot cider we went over to A&W to get root beers and lunch. The
lunch sucked so did that store never go there again they totally
messed up the order delayed my offroading trip nearly a half hour. I
could not wait just to peel out of that place and go exploring. Boy
would I have a daunting task just minutes away! We would make our
amazing trek up to the ghost town of North Bloomfield high above Nevada
City in the sierras.

After carefully examining photos much larger in size I could not help take notice of a few strange anomalies or objects above downtown. At this time they are UAV's or UFOs because we really have no idea what they are but we know they are there since the camera captured them. Some people might say hey they are birds or bugs its possible but unlikely after studying their shape and size along with the distance. Sometimes you think your ghosthunting and you might in fact come across something else. The one thing I found consistent with Nevada city is all the alien merchandise for sale including sidewalk art. So maybe aliens really are above the city looking down at the people of Nevada City. These are some of the enhancements even left them in regular photos throughout our edition very intriguing to say the least!

A few things because I believe in helping others but this woman is missing or was in the area as I was backpacking I saw the sign and photographed it. The problem is were so far behind with locations on our site this was years ago. Does not mean that posting it to our site wont help find her someday but when I see this it makes me sick to my stomach. So many times ill be on investigation and find a missing persons sign thinking this could happen to eve me. What is worst is not to far away a jacket or jeans were sitting up on a cut down tree. Not everyone who goes into these woods comes out but it gives you a sense of eeriness no less whether there is foul play or not or someone just went into the sierras and ended up loss. Plus you have mountain lion, bear, suicides and foul play even. This is to close to the city maybe a mile out in the wilderness but still its secluded.

If you take the Sugarloaf Mountain hike you will come across a homeless encampment so I photographed the tent. Sad thing is they are dumping trash, clothes, mattresses and plastic all over along the trail or just off of it. I am not against campers or even the homeless but this is bad. The area is a nature mecca and your hiking along on a beautiful trail above the city then all of sudden you look left and this is the kind of thing that increases the deeper you traverse. So be warned!

I came across this on my hike out to the pond beyond town you can clearly see something was clawing at the ground. Hard to say maybe a bear, mountain lion or for all I know bigfoot. Bigfoot is heavily sighted up in this area I once watched a news video about a couple men who encountered one just outside of the city limits. We may never know but whatever this was had to be strong look how long the marks are and deep. It was fresh may have just missed whatever it was!
