My first visit to the Decker Homestead was a brief day investigation. No fancy equipment such as EMF meters or digital recorders but a full daytime exploration of the ranch.
 
The bottom of the home at least the front of it was collapsing as massive giant stones were toppling one another. This is how you could tell the house was old because the wood beams and boards had tree knots in them. The foundation was made with local rock as it was fit to support the wood structure which sits on top of it.
 
The property is covered heavily with trees beyond that is ranch land which is no longer in use. Most of the land surrounding it is tall dead brown grass. Some of the old fencing is down a little dirt road runs along the side of the homestead.
 
I felt it was necessary to do a day and night project with the house. Because it is a piece of history but it also will not stand in the near future. This is perhaps why there is a fence prohibiting anyone from driving up to the home.
 
I seen some graffiti on the property so its obvious local kids are disrespecting the old ranch. During the day its not as foreboding so I really did not notice anything out of the ordinary.
 
I seen a garage which had a huge pile of junk maybe even a rats nest. The kitchen and utility room had separate doors on them both were in deplorable shape. The stairwell leading upstairs was completely gone but this appeared to be where the ranch owners and family had slept.
 
I did not spend to much time at the ranch but I did make a couple videos and did a day shoot. That way our viewers can see the ranch in full for what it is. But it would also give me a chance to get a feel for what it might be like at night.
 
I had to be very careful on the property lots of nails sticking up, debris, piles of wood, sharp rocks and hazards. During the day you get to see these hazards so it would help prep us for a second investigation where we would come back at night.
 
Safety is our priority so if you have a chance to inspect the property during the day do it. I guess that this is what separates me from others in the paranormal community. By day I am very much an urban explorer and at night I am a straight up paranormal investigator.
 
It was very scenic to see that the ranch is surrounded by mountains. Off in the distance just down the road from the ranch is a whole series of trees all of them changing various colors. So to pick this ranch for our Halloween investigation is perfect with colors of fall and a creepy old homestead at night.
 
When you really put it all together you start to wonder who lived here and what happened as to where they left the ranch. At one time life was here cattle graves, chickens were in the coop and children probably played under the properties large trees.
 
This investigation was empty and desolate. I think that it is a change of pace compared to our massive Bigfoot expeditions in the mountains. This is a piece of history its important to visit it and bring it to light with our viewers. Ranches like this seen the change in America from when candles were a source of light all the way to electricity coming to homes in the valley.
