The planning for the new Cathedral begin around the 1870's in the St Louis area. Construction begin around 1907 and by 1914 Mass was held here. Most of the work was far from done in fact it took about eighty years worth of projects in order to complete this cathedral. It still would take many years for the church to be consecrated in fact that was 1926. In 1961 the pope elevated the cathedral to a Basilica and eventually Pope John Paul II during his visit here designated it as a Cathedral Basilica.

The cathedral is known for its mosaics which has more then anywhere else nearly in the world besides Russia. The mosaics took decades to complete all the way up till 1988. What secrets lurk within these walls and its crypts? Join us as we explore one of the greatest churches west of the Mississippi. This is a fun little video I am sure there is so much more to see that I missed or that was off-limits. But everyone should try to visit the Basilica Cathedral the mosaics, statues, gardens, architecture, gold trim everywhere, three cupolas, wood carvings and history is simply stunning.

I wanted to stop here and do a brief investigation of this place of worship so I actually visited it two separate times during my trip. I wish I had more time to see more of it but I had to grab some grub, return my rental vehicle and get to the airport to board my plane. So what you will see a brief walkthrough of the gardens, nave, sanctuary, chapels and ill show off the Cupolas which are gorgeous all lined with theological depictions. Their is a reason the pope chose to visit years ago. It is a really beautiful church and one of the most prestigious west of the river.

Their are crypts and a museum below the church we did not make it there. Also know the holy water did not boil when I splashed in it a little. Towards the end of the video there are galleries of this location including the St. Louis Zoo and my flight home so you should find that somewhat enjoyable along with some clips taken at over 36k'. I kind of wanted to give our viewers a Birdseye view into what it means to be an urban explorer and paranormal investigator like myself. How we are on the go one moment roaming the walls of this wonder and the next landing in Nevada.
