We did not arrive at Utica Lake till nearly sunset as we found a nice little primitive cove to camp at on a reservoir that was founded in 1905 for some of the local mining camps in the area. Nearby is its sister Union Reservoir built in the 1860s. It resides on the edge of bear valley as a matter in fact in the heart of the Stanislaus National Forest. Their is a cluster of reservoirs that harnessed the creeks and rivers to not only bring water to some of the serene towns of the sierra foothills but also to provide it with hydroelectric power. Therefore this 233 acre body of water does have a multitude of uses in this case for us getting to camp on it overshadowed by some pretty scenery. Our first evening up here was interesting I seen three UFOs, heard strange vocalizations and thought I heard a ghostly laugh. While we were up here alone their was a peeping tom squatting on the other side of some rock formations that we did not see when setting up camp. So with this footage ill introduce you to the lake a little and ill give my new night vision cam a test run. So this will include a night exploration just to mess around with it an get it ready for my night hike the following day. This region is Bigfoot country numerous locations near here yielded good results so I expected camping up here on a crisp autumn night would have its benefits!

The second day of our journey which include expeditions to Mud, Summit and Elephant Rock Lakes. Ill start off by taking you down a rugged dirt road will backpack to each of the lakes. In between we stop up on this glacial granite slab because my GPS and the lack of a good trail got us turned around. While you will get to see Utica Reservoir what is even more beautiful is these natural lakes not to far away but far enough where you can hear a pin drop. Which is why I call it triple lake madness because often due to Utica's large size so very few know about these other bodies of water which get less attention. Up near Summit Lake their is a missing persons poster kind of creepy because the person just vanished at a camp ground down the road from here. But people forget this is the high sierras beyond the trail are worlds within worlds and while adventure awaits so does danger too. This is the wilderness and these are alpine lakes each one differs in some way so pay mind to that when you watch this. Ill also take you on a night journey this time I got the new IR Cam down much better then my first night trying this thing. That night I also heard vocalizations so going out into the wilderness in the dark of night seemed like a great idea!

If your going to visit the Utica you have to visit the Union Reservoir which is only separated by a strip of land. They are twin reservoirs but each one differs a little as you will be able to tell from the footage along the Unions shoreline. The Union is also a very large body of water about 218 acres its shoreline is very rocky lots of coves and peninsulas. Ill take you to the dam this is a very old reservoir one of the first in this region as flooding valleys to contain water was a new concept brought here by the miners who needed water for their hard rock mining operations. But water also meant a sawmill came to the area and towns like Murphy's could sustain themselves because of the Union Reservoir. Their is also a pretty cool swing we found I give it a go really its hard to resist anything that involves exploring and adventure. Will get back to camp fire my Crossfire Bow, BB Guns and play some football like I said Triathlon, cook some brats, explore the campsite area more and then ill finish the evening driving off into the sunset. Three days of perfect adventure, scenic wonder and the solitude of nature. I left with more questions then answers about some of the objects in the night sky that seemed to be far from mans capabilities, strange vocalizations as the sun fades behind the mountains and the chilling laughs I heard in the woods into the later hours of the night. A trip that I would not not forget anytime soon!
