Their will be no report with our first walkthrough or anything of the strange. This was just your typical Urban Exploration of a town which once thrived. I visited Volcano about 10 times actually from March of 2008 to June of 2008. Alot of times I just got into my car just to drive to the town and back into Jackson CA. I sort of went here for escape as it was always pieceful and their is allot of gold country history surrounding the town itself. 

Its a quiet place alot of bikers love to sit downtown drink a brew and socialize. I have alot of respect for bikers since I been affiliated with biker groups in the past. I actually met one of the biker groups in the area the Skeleton Crew great group of people. I partied with them and they seemed like a fun bunch to chill with. 

But I remember one day I decided to take my kids up here to play football. So we actually parked and walked around the town visiting the park. Their was an old car, the amphitheater was locked up but we could peak over the fence, and we spent a couple hours hiking around the historical park which there is a creek behind it where mining was done.

I did drive on a steep road up to the cemetery car stalled out we rolled down the hill. I even found a ridge to hike on in the future maybe when I make a trip down the road there. I bet there are some hidden caves up in the hills caused by volcanic activity. 

As my sons and I spent time at the park their was a giant boulder which was a memorial. The park served as a backyard to some of the houses. The boys and I we climbed up a hill behind the park which came out to some wood shelter overlooking ALL of Volcano. It was not an easy climb the pine needles made things very hard on us we fell a few times or slid.

The climb to the shelter was not to hard but it became steep and I got a little worried because we were very high up and in front of us was a cliff. So I had to help the kids hell I think the kids were helping me. When your poor and do not own a good pair of shoes you tend to just hope for the best lol. 

Their is a real dismal feeling in Volcano I feel the ghosts everywhere its hard to explain. Its very woodsy and secluded here so you can only imagine how it was in the 1800s when electricity did not flow. All the houses you see are either historic or new...built on what once was this giant gold rush town where men drank...where harlots kept men occupied....and a place where even someone was hung in the towns square. It is not a town of lights their is no Wal-Mart's and their is a short supply of alot of things which is much like the miners endured in the 1800s. So not much has changed as its a fairly isolated community. 

Sneezer came along for this exploration he would sit up on my dashboard as I would ride the steep grades up and down. Just on the edge of Volcano is the site of a native American village which we camped out at for a couple weeks. Its just a magical place and it was my first real taste of California! I would love to revisit it for the sole purpose to do a more in depth investigation of the various historic sites found here some day.
