As many times as I traveled through the area little did I ever know how beautiful and amazing this region is in the sierras. My first time visiting here was when a police officer gave me a ride to the general store. When I seen the historic general store it really captured my interest enough to return here to hike around and see what I could find.
 
Also knowing the fact that their is for some reason allot of Bigfoot activity I really wanted to add my own pizzazz to this location and put it out there for our viewers to enjoy.  Our first expedition would mainly focus on Thunder Mountain. To really enjoy it you need to make a day of it as its an uphill trail to the peak of a couple thousand feet in elevation gain.
 
I spent the earlier portion of the morning fishing and even visited the Kit Carson general store where their was some very large buck antlers mounted with an old rifle. Those buck antlers were probably scarier then a Bigfoot as some of you know you could be killed with ones of this size.
 
After the kids went fishing and swimming I decided that we were going to stand on the peak of Thunder Mountain. I really wanted to climb this volcano and get some good views of the Eldorado Forest from above. One you venture deeper into this place you can see why Bigfoot would be sighted here its quite vast with hundreds of hidden places.
 
The first portion of the hike is a switchback through the forest that climbs on up to a ridge. The hike is rather steep but eventually you do get out of the forest and that is when the great views began. On one side you have Kirkwood on the other Silver Lake which is blocked by Thunder Mountain till you reach its peak. Until then at times the path narrows along some really nice cliffs and precious scenic views.
 
Prior to getting out of the woods you can see solar panels used to power Kirkwood their is even a sign that says leaving ski area. From high up you can see these communities and you start to realize at 9k life is different. You feel so small compared to the rest of the world seriously!
 
What is unique about Thunder Mountain is that its a massive extinct volcano so the rock formations, volcanic vents, cliffs and spires are very amazing. On this trail I passed quite allot of hikers its a very well used area unless you want to get primitive leaving the trail which I did do on one of the mountains lower peaks.
 
The amount of wild flowers and meadows once you reach higher altitudes is truly amazing. Eventually we would find a trail split between horse thief canyon and to the peak. Of course the peak interest me more as eventually the trail fades and its all rock climbing over the various spires.
 
We had dinner on the peak I went on alone due to dangers to get some awesome scenic shots. I could even see the Shaelor Lakes area from a week before. I thought that was a gorgeous place till I stood on Thunder Mountains peak WOW. I was able to see many peaks in the distance some very hard to get to including Silver Lake, Treasure Island and even Amy Lake.

When I was alone something did oddly occurr at the peak. I heard something following me around it was big and everytime I turned around I could not see it. The peak is full of cliffs, spires and rock formations. I felt watched even though my family was on a lower peak it was apparent I was not alone. What could it be? Was it a mountain lion stalking me? Maybe Bigfoot hiding behind one of the spires? I guess I never will know but whatever it was did not move around quietly. Tammy also pointed out back at base a small white furry animal that looked similar to a prairie dog as it would stand up look at us then run away. However their was no way that what I had encountered was small at all rather it gave me the sense that we were not alone at the summit and we intruded on whatever it was territory just before sundown.
 
So the first trip was really to put the region into perspective for our viewers. I wanted them to see what the area looks like thousands of feet above the sierras. Going back would not be as difficult since most of it was now all downhill.
 
On my way back off the mountain I found a very large hand print which was not there earlier so we may have just missed something. But I also found a cave interest in the forest possibly a den. Its not always a good idea to stick your head into a den it may have a bear or a mountain lion.
 
I also found a weird impression in the hard earth not sure what made it or what it is I was looking at. But everything I do gets documented now by videos and photos regardless. That way others can compare notes or speculate on their own.
 
I have to admit that being on these narrow ridges and large volcanic rocks everywhere made me feel as if I was in another world. The hike back at sunset was gorgeous and by the time I reached the truck it was dark out. Of course as most of you know I am into allot of night hiking as well because honestly that is when most of the Bigfoot activity occurs.
 
My first expedition in the region was allot of fun it definitely was in my top 10 list of gorgeous locations. But something about chasing wild butterflies in meadows thousands of feet up really is exhilarating! The big kid really comes out in me! The Bigfoot finds are just a bonus to an already great region of the high sierras!

I found this hand print on an area where the dirt is a little bit softer and less rock a mile from Thunder Peak. It is possible that it was made by a Bigfoot like creature since sometimes they run on all fours to gain more territory. Its just an oddity to see as most hikers do not walk on their hands lets face it. You can see my sons track above it as he nearly stepped on it during our hike.

I use my cameras zoom to focus in on this cave entrance on the left side of this rock outcrop. When people ask where does Bigfoot live since its a very elusive cryptid. Well the answer is simple since the peaks of most of the mountains in the sierras are volcanic it also leaves behind caverns and lava tubes which could provide shelter.

I am not sure what this is it could have been where something sat on its knees or stood on two of its feet. If anybody ha any theories id like to hear them. I found this in the middle of the wilderness and anything could have made it including even a very heavy Squatch.

I thought these two impressions were very odd finds not sure what made them but its just not something you see regularly considering how deep they were in the earth. The second impression looked more like something stood down on the tip of its foot. Only later would I actually find a large hand print while making my descent at sunset.
