Modena Cemetery

Miles down the road from town is the cemetery surrounded by a chain link fence. I was actually taking this dirt road to visit another ghost town. This ghost town had a mill....a few ponds...mines...cabins etc it was meant to finish off the night here then head back home for Las Vegas.

On the way to the ghost town I found the cemetery so we stopped. The cemetery was extremely overgrown but had a variety of graves including some only a couple years old. I saw one stone written in Chinese while I found one of a hunter. Of course playing with the antlers was not a good idea according to Tammy because she said it would bite me in the ass and it did later that night haha.

I did not spend much time in the cemetery not many graves maybe 30 to 50 in total. I found a wood epitaph and a few graves from the 1800's surrounded by iron fences. Behind the cemetery was a giant woodsy hill it was a pretty cozy little place.

I also found an animal skull here and noticed quite a few sets of fresh flowers at some of the grave sites. Its nice to see that some still come up here to leave flowers for their loved ones considering how secluded this location is.

This again would be a great site to set up camp up at night and monitor the ghost activity. I think it would be a great place. It has a real eerie feeling here can only imagine once its dark here.

Down the road I found an abandoned house I went in it real quick took some photos. Then further up the dirt road is a set of white sandstone cliffs with allot of erosion.

I must have been on the road for about 20 miles we never found our turn off hell the road I needed according to google maps I never even found. I found everything but that and when I stopped the car for at least 20 miles I seen dirt roads leading up into mountains with not even a sign of life.

The sun was slowly going behind the mountains so I increased my off roading speed a bit to try various dirt roads. All map sites have this dirt road labeled as a main road maybe I did not go far enough or maybe it just was not marked as this one road I found may have been it.

I was really hoping to have found the ghost town its a cool place people often camp at or take there kids to. I also heard that it was in really good shape but again could not find it knew I was close. I turned around going up and down the hills. The roads had mainly dirt but allot of tiny little sharp rocks and going down a hill one sliced the side of my tire.

I was literally 20 miles from even Modena the same ghost town we had no cell phone signal or even gas station at. My gas was almost on empty it was so cold out. I looked at some of the mountains around us and it looked like they were covered in clouds.....and as if a wall of haze was bombarding them just a few miles away.

Somehow when I went to take out the spare our trunk busted open so we had dirt on all our luggage. I could not find the tire iron as I had to unload the entire car to get to the tools and everything.

I put on the tire and we were driving within 15 minutes however snow flurries started to kick in. I remember how cold I was the temp. dropped within a matter of an hour drastically. The kids sat their pretty quiet thank goodness as we were mobile.

I had a new tire on so I would make one last attempt to find the ghost town before heading back home. I took this dirt road it was rugged but I went very slow and reached a gate to some ranch. By this time the snow was coming down hard to worried to take photos I got us out of there back on the main road.

Well we went a few miles down the road to get home and my spare threw us a flat to. Must had been them antlers I pranced around with at the old cemetery haha. I tried putting fix a flat in it leaked out apparently the tire came a bit off the rim. I almost fixed it by holding my tire iron against the rim while we put in fix a flat. Someone stole my electronic air pump so we had nothing to fix the spare with.

Tammy at this point and I were laughing because you see we totally were prepared. We had road service, cell phone, fix a flat, spare time, tire iron, food, water, survival equipment, warm clothes etc and well I learned no matter how prepared you are expect the unexpected. I thought about it for awhile then decided out our plan for the night.

I drove on the flat I know big no no but the flat tire gave me some cushion and softer spots on the road the car rolled smooth. Eventually the spare came completely off the rim and instead of falling off it became stuck inside around the strut.

The same thing had to jack the car up again try to get the tire off and I was mad so I threw it into the side of a hill. At this point I smoked me a joint so I could relax it was snowing and as I made my way down the dirt road we escaped the storm. The flakes were big and they were sticking on the ground but we made it away from this place I guess called Indian Peak which gets some pretty nasty weather.

My hands I could not feel but I had the heater going and I just took it about 5 mph it took me a couple hours to get back into Modena. When the rim hit the paved road it made so much noise I thought for sure the locals would come on out there with shot guns but they all thought it was a train I guess lol.

I noticed a town 15 miles away but at this point I destroyed the rim to our spare but we were at least in a town with some life. I went over the tracks turned the car around facing them and we spent the night sleeping in the car. The body heat kept the inside of the car very warm everybody was quiet till 8ish in the morning. I got woken up by 3 times during the night not one car passed by or we could have maybe found someone with working cell service.

In the morning a Union Pacific worker stopped to check the train tracks that is when Tammy used his phone. The guy actually knew someone who repaired and did tire service in another town. So they called him and they actually brought a brand new tire to put on the other rim.

It sucked because the tire took up the whole truck so we had all sorts of shit piled up around us in the inside of the car till we could get it out of there. The bent spare rim the guy had a hard time getting off. It was cold as we all stood and watched then another train went by. I got a really good photo of the train and Lund Hotel.

At this point I was wishing for coffee and a local came to talk to us for a bit. He of course had hot coffee claiming his dog nor him never even knew of us breaking down. Hell we made not only town news but news in the town 15 miles down the road.

We followed the service truck to the tire shop and they were like oh yeah your the ones who spent the night in your car. It cost us allot of money to get a new tire but we had to pay for a balance too. Just down the road was some farming store which provided gas for a pretty expensive price the only gas in like 40 miles so yeah.

We filled up and I got the hell out of Modena and right over into Nevada near a place called Caliente another location I would love to explore. I did know some other stops but at this point we were already a day late coming home and the car was covered in dirt. I just could not wait to get home fire up the grill and chill to some relaxation time.

On my way up through Alamo I did get a ticket I guess they expect you to go 65mph through a 100 miles of nothing. The officer did not keep me long but he was pissed I guess he followed me for a few miles going 100 mph what can I say you spend the night in the car all you want is a shower and a hot meal. But that's how it is with police now its a business you do one little thing and you owe them money I would rather do a day in jail at least I could play football or something lol.

I got a ticket last year through here but last year I did go the speed limit and the officer got the car in the other lane confusing me for them. So I told Tammy from now on when we go up this way she can do the driving since I am a bad boy in this region lol.

My trip to Zion will be memorable it actually was a birthday gift from my Tammy. I just went in did the research on places I thought would look good on our site and that I would have fun exploring at. I think Utah is such an amazing state you have dinosaurs, amazing stone arches, beautiful scenery, hundreds of ghost towns, hot Mormon girls and some ancient history.

I may return someday up here but would like to return when I am settled further up north. I will be looking at finally leaving Vegas forever. I would like to be based near Lake Tahoe so that I will have access to Northern NV....the Cali Foothills...then states like Oregon....northern UT...even Idaho. I do think our members are in for a treat because I have big plans for PGS. I mean look at us we opened in 2001 and here we are still going out doing what it is we do best.

Lastly not because I am desperate or begging or rude but rather I am a very down to earth. I try to make others understand that doing what we do is a way of life. I work constantly at what we do here run the site, my show, message boards etc.

Due to the higher cost the PGS website.....film....batteries...travel expenses....supplies and hell even tires its important our fans as well as members donate. Even if you do one dollar per month we want to try to get others to keep that in mind the more funding we get the more trips ill take and Ill work hard to make each of our members happy with our journeys. Whether its urban explorations......paranormal investigations......preservation....whatever it might be you will not be disappointed. Just like my show I do stand up comedy for free but in reality some of these local lounges in Vegas would pay me hundreds to do the skits I do for free. My point is get involved join our boards..join our sites....come on out adventuring....attend meets....parties....donate when you can and be accepting of all paranormal views just as we are with our members who sign up.

I am currently looking for radio show host, explorers, investigators and a good tight group of friends. Right now most of the work we do is self produced by me......but we want others to add spice to our team and group. I am really proud of my sons for helping me out.....and of course Tammy has been on allot of excursions with me so she knows the ups and downs that we go through. The flat tires.....getting lost....dangers....etc its allot of work that goes into this.

As far as updates it will be weeks before I put all the material on Zion together on our site. I am not sure Ill ever forget the wonderful places I visited. Its the best feeling in the world when you are sitting in a meadow counting clouds....and uncovering treasures...mystery....history and the strangeness that surrounds it all. May was a busy month for The Paranormal & Ghost Society.

Our next trip will be up in the mountains as we hike to some old mines....perhaps revisit the Robbers Roost area for a nice night under the stars looking for the unknown. If some of you ever have the chance though visit Zion its well worth the trip but beware of Angels Landing many accomplish the hike and some die on it just my two sense.

When I drove into Vegas I had a very gloom look perhaps because everything here is so brown you will not see trees that are 200 years old. My ex had a fit telling me how its my fault we had no cell phone signal up in the ghost town and how we could not find an officer to relay the information to her. I guess some people not even my kids mother realize that in the wildwest their are not always phones....gas stations....or fancy hotels. When some check in its permanent out here.  So yeah as soon as I arrived home she was at my front door making a scene in front of the neighborhood yelling out conspiracies that this trip did not happen so I definitely look forward to posting photos of the broken down car.....hotel pictures....and photos from all these secluded locations we visited:)

Their was NOT much paranormal on my trip but I did take EVPs many photos and some of the locations are rumored to be haunted. I know that not every trip your going to see a ghost or flying saucer. But as long as you keep at it you will see and hear some pretty strange things. Its important to grab a camera and see where it leads you. You may watch these shows but what you will not see is them breaking down in the desert....or almost falling off a cliff just to bring its members a the story. That is what I bring all of you a story and believe me it was epic!

My only regret is I never did find that ghost town if anybody can donate a GPS to our society it would make my team and I allot safer on so many levels. I hope before they demolish this town I might get another shot at going up here for perhaps a camp out.  My other regret is I never found the 3 treasure caves at Escalante the sun goes down to quick up in those hills and it would have been a great little exploration to photograph all the different symbols over the years found on the walls there. But without again a truck...gps etc you really have to work twice as hard to find many of these locations so we make due like a bunch of old fashioned ghosthunters with homemade gadgets:)

Keep in mind we also have paypal if you wish to support us as full members using GodOfThyNight@aol.com
I hope everybody has a blessed weekend thanks for all those who support us and believe!  I will never make anybody do anything they do not want to so let us share our work with you and along the way develop new and enlightening fellowships with likeminded adventurers across the world like the society we have developed ourselves to be. Oh and lastly do not mess with the power of Modena Cemetery and its antlers winks...trust me I learned a hard lesson that night lol. But no matter the hardship I have learned to adore the wildwest for what it is and realize it is always an adventure!
