To finish off the day I decided the last expedition would be a trip to Krome Cemetery. I was excited to see this place after rumors of its burnt down mansion was said to be haunted. Today only the cemetery remains and its hidden in plain site in a brand new sub division in a grove of trees and brush.
 
I just finished visiting Cahokia, Seven Gates of Hell, Gilead and the Harris Cemetery. But this last place was special because its really a mystery in regards to the folks that lived on this site. Some people say they ran the underground railroad others say they shackled and held slaves here to be sold pre civil war.
 
When you pull up at the site their is a little path you can go up it onto some steps and inside a series of walls are graves including a big monument which was the mansion owner Charles. Many of the graves were broken, missing and you could tell vandals hit this place. Kind of sad really but at one time it was really remote here now locals keep an eye out onto the place.
 
Through the trees you could see a mound of dirt with a couple stone slabs protruding from the earth. This is the last remnants of the mansion which sat near the cemetery. The mansion burnt down then later they removed its remnants when the built the sub divisions here to modernize the area.
 
I did not spend much time here but I had to make a stop because this is a true haunted site and locals time to time do see ghosts around here. So I felt it was a great finish to my day of urbexing and paranormal investigating. After the investigation we went to Panters Pizza and then out for Ice Cream.
 
The sun was going down I watched the sunset sitting on a pair of tracks eating ice cream and chilling. It was a long day but these places we do are meant for our viewers to enjoy so even if its a small place no regrets. Everything we come across is meant to be shared with all of you.
 
It was a long day of hiking around but it was nice to pass through some of the smaller towns in Illinois. I do not live there not much of a midwestern guy but the towns do have charm. I did not mind it at all not many know about the Krome Cemetery and Mansion site. But its easy to envision how at one time it did look with open land for miles and candles lit in the windows etc.

After our investigation of Krome Cemetery,Cahokia and the Seven Gates Of Hell we  picked up some pizza and wings as we entered Glen Carbon going through a covered bridge. It was an extensive day of research, hiking around and exploring so we could bring these places to our viewers on our website. We would also stop for ice cream before heading back to the hotel where I chilled on some train tracks at sunset. A great way to finish the day! Krome Cemetery was quiet and small but it still was a very historical little site to explore.
