Shoshone Cemetery & Dublin Gulch

I felt in my opinion this location would be the most haunted out of all of them we visited during Easter weekend. As the sun went down I gave Tammy a tour of New Tecopa...we drove past the hot springs 5 dollars to get in.....and since it was still light out a little I found a couple old abandonment's I took photos of. I also took her to St. Mary's hill the one I climbed after my knee operation with a giant cross on it. We noticed about 3 other hills with giant white crosses on them. Kind of eerie if you ask me its just not something you see often.

After we drove around Tecopa we decided to head to Shoshone which the ride seemed to take forever as we drove through some salt flats. By the time we got into town it was night out. I could not find the cemetery or Dublin Gulch. I knew where it was but the problem is we never seen signs for it or anything near the road.

We went down some of the back roads within Shoshone and all we found were trailers, ranches and shoebox like homes. I was not going to give up though I read so much on the location I knew with patience we would find it. Besides what did I care I had the windows open was toking up....chilling out it just couldn't get any better then this. I spent the entire day hiking....exploring....smoking herb.....my nose was all red got some good sun what a great day it had been.

Tammy went in the gas station to purchase something asking the clerk she had no clue. Then I got mad drove behind the gas station and found what looked like a few crosses. We actually found it and I was pretty happy considering we drove around for an hour trying to find this location.

When we pulled up to the cemetery I just parked the car in front of it. The cemetery did not have that many graves but it did grace the entrance of Dublin Gulch. The cemetery had two rows at the base of this hill....then when you came around the hill it went off into the desert a little.

It felt different here it was cold....I felt watched.....many of them were not even marked while other graves had fresh flowers on it. You have to understand that the burials within this cemetery are the folks who lived in Dublin Gulch. The gulch was at one time a small settlement/town where all the residents lived in Flintstone like cave houses with chimneys. Its pretty cool one of the only locations like it in the world.

Tammy and I found a dirt road that ran near the cemetery one part of it had a gate but the other part led into Dublin Gulch. There was a historic sign and to my right I looked up found a few stone houses with big wood doors on them of various colors.

It was real dark out and we enjoyed viewing all the stars. Tammy and I got out walked around staring in the windows....and doors of each stone house. Some of them appeared to have two to three rooms. You could see bars on the windows while some had built in fire places. One of them had an old bed inside while this other one had no door and was just a room.

Tammy and I followed this huge hill around hiking up on top of it now we stood right above the old stone homes roaming the roof tops. I did not see any chimneys here though thought that was odd since each stone house had a hole in the ceiling for a chimney. Since each house had a wood stove.

We were pretty high up didn't see anything on the roof tops so we climbed back down and across the road. When we almost reached the next hill with stone houses something hit our car it was a loud thug. Then as we stood in front of 5 to 6 stone caves with doors we heard a loud creak. It sounded like it was getting closer I quickly pulled out my knife.

It sounded like a coyote or dog whining so we slowly approached the noise. I could hear the breeze causing one of the gates on another dirt road to clank. Tammy and I up ahead found an old aluminum outhouse. I went inside sat down on the toilet with my rabbit ears. The creepy noises stopped then I grabbed the door of the outhouse and it made a similar sound case solved no ghost just wear and tear. This outhouse was used by the town can you imagine having to wait your turn in the middle of the night here holding your lantern at that point id be like the hell with it and go out in the vast desert lol.

Tammy and I got done with exploring each cave all the doors were locked but we looked in the windows. In one of the windows I shined my light thought I seen something come at me it was just a bad reflection of light. I think more then anything the location we were at was just straight up spooky. Not once did I ever feel not watched considering I just went into a mine where people disappear at this place had 10 times more energy. I felt as if all the residents never left this place and it is true they never did because they were all buried near the entrance of the gulch. Most were miners for a mine I passed by prior to entering Shoshone another place we didn't have time to check out.

We took one last hike which led us into the desert I thought in the cemetery I seen a giant statue turns out it was just a very tall eroded rock. Its amazing how your eyes can play tricks on you. Tammy and I hiked around in the gulch to the breeze was picking up and with the naked eye I seen many other hills similar to the cave homes in the gulch. Surprisingly their wasn't to much left of the town just the stone dwellings no tin cans like Noonday or Old Tecopa. Quite a few famous individuals lived in these caves including at one time they say Chief Tecopa which we already did a story on this figure.

Our night was not done Tammy opened the skylite in the car and we enjoyed the beautiful stars out. I went down another road and pulled on off to the side near some cliffs to this mountain. We walked right up to the cliff and found our last stop for the night. This would be where we would rest, eat dinner and relax for a bit till our road trip home.

I looked up seen a few falling stars...Tammy seen more then I did but I think her favorite part about this entire trip was she got to see more stars then you could ever imagine. The skies were clear we had no city lights and we were in the middle of a ghost town it doesn't get better then that.

We found a dwelling similar to the ones in Dublin Gulch......we went inside set up camp inside. There was a soft sandy flooring it felt so good to sit down in it. There was a place for a stove...and chimney....a couple stone windows...and a bedroom.

I thought I heard something outside the dwelling while Tammy and I sat in the dark. We did have a little lighting inside as we left on our dimmer flashlights. I sat back for awhile drank some lager.....smoked one.....and actually took a good hours worth of EVP recordings here. To a degree our voices seemed to echo a little bit while inside.

Their was an old set of bed springs inside and a little bit of litter but the dwelling was pretty clean otherwise inside. I thought I heard someone or something outside at one time. I felt like we were being watched from the windows and door.

Tammy and I spent about an hour here cars would go by on occasion I kept thinking how fun it would be if someone peaked there head in the window and seen the two of us chilling out here lol. I think this was one of the coolest parts of the investigation.

We sat there just in silence listening to the sound of nature. I noticed near one of the windows of the stone dwelling someone took black marker writing all over their names and various graffiti on the aluminum siding. That is one reason why the doors were locked because people abused the stone dwellings. This was my first cliff dwelling I ever been to we hope to visit more like this when we conduct our Anasazi explorations of the adobes built into the cliffs.

When we excited the cliff dwelling we were a little tired afterall we had climbed and hiked all day long and been up since 6am. Tammy saw a meteor fall to the earth believe it or not as she seen it she also heard it crackling and making a fizzing sound. At this point I was too focused on the long ride home I did not see it but I heard it just nearby. Makes you wonder how close some of us actually come to being hit by meteors. I heard that at the velocity they travel if one were to hit you there is a good chance it would kill you....so yeah close call!

We left the cliff dwelling feeling pretty good since we rested despite the close encounter with a meteor.....
Tammy opened the skylite we drove all the way to Vegas with it open just looking at the stars. She and I actually pulled off to the side of the road to have some us time not that we didn't have us time all day but it was well deserved since we had hiked all day long it was nice to take a time out put the seat back and enjoy looking at all the stars.

It was a long trip back home we actually went all the way around the Spring Mountains.....and came into Vegas from the north side. I always enjoy exploring because the ride into Vegas and seeing all the lights means your just about almost home.

I was pretty tired so at this point I still had to stay up and marinate my turkey for Easter and prep a few things for a massive dinner I was cooking for my kids. I had a pretty good time and would love to return to the War Eagle Mine.....visit other mines nearby....and definitely hike in other areas of the China Date Ranch.

I felt pretty excited because some of the photos are going to wow you we worked very hard on the photography from this trip. But more so my first trip out here sort of sucked I had a group of people who thought they were vampires yet they were to scared to explore anything. So it was nice to be able to go out here for the entire day and it was just what I thought it would be totally bad ass. I didn't have time constraints or whiny people....and we had enough food...drinks...and snacks for the entire day. Wish more came out but you know what they say you snooze you lose. I wouldn't want to miss out on these places and well now most of you wont once we bring them up on our website.

If we do not relocate soon we will make trips to the Talc Mine, Gunsight and Columbia. In addition to exploring more of the date ranch. We didn't get allot of paranormal activity but these places will leave you guessing! This is the wild west!
