Prior to entering the Desolation Wilderness area from Echo Lake you are rewarded with views of the Tahoe Basin. From this video you can see Lake Tahoe off in the distance it is one of the only areas to see this lake from prior to entering the primitive area. The Desolation Wilderness is Bigfoot country and we are moments away from our first Bigfoot expedition in this region.

Many of my friends claim that Echo Lake is one of the most beautiful glacier lakes in all of the sierras. I had to go see it myself however more importantly this lake is known as one of the major gateways into the Desolation Wilderness simply by following the trail that follows its shoreline. We are approaching Echo Lake from there we will get on the trail and traverse for miles until we find an area we can work with for the remainder of the day.

The Desolation Wilderness is as beautiful as it is deadly just like any site you must also use some level of caution and safety here. Over the years there has been a series of strange disappearances as well as deaths. For example in 2011 someone was mauled by a black bear which resulted in there death out here. You can never be to careful when entering such a primitive area nonetheless id give a 1000 lifetimes to have the opportunity to traverse and conquer this granite basin.

Now if only we had a tree to live in I'd be all set eh? We are traveling the Echo Lake trail head taking our time stopping at scenic overlooks and enjoy all the granite rock formations. I consider myself to be quite adventurous and with that said my family is also. This is a great way to bond with my family but its also a way for them to learn a bit about the outdoors. I probably am one of the only paranormal investigators in the country that includes our younger generation on allot of our jaunts this is a kids dream here lots of room to run, play and climb.

As you continue on this trail it does branch off and lead to many other scenic locations. The trail is rough not due to heavy elevation gains but due to the fact that the granite rock is found everywhere which is very hard on the knees, ankles and feet. We have only traveled a couple miles on in and most of the trail is composed of rock not soft dirt. We want to be able to hike as far away from the Echo Lake area where it will branch off to a secluded lake that we can conduct our work at.

The Echo Lake trail eventually takes you on up to an area with views of Upper Echo Lake. The real adventure begins once you traverse past the upper lake. There are some lake houses generally those that reside in them travel via boat to the lower lake where they can dock and head back on into civilization.

The views in this region are stellar and they give you a good idea of how large of an area this is which encompasses over 63,000 acres making it the vast wilderness that it is. In this case you are able to view both of the lakes from the elevation gain that occurs on this trail head. This view is priceless and now we are able to bring it to our viewers.

Lake Tamarack is another body of water formed by the last glacier age. Some folks referred to this area as the maze of lakes as there are dozens just like these all with history and stories of there own. I would not visit this lake but passing but it made me want to take a short video clip of it.

From the moment I heard something roar as if it were bellowing from its chest from deep within I turned on the camera to document the incident. This would be the first strange incident I encountered during my hike in this wilderness area. Whatever it was had to be many miles away but it was loud and a strung out roar. I do believe it was an actual Bigfoot and the stranger thing about it is that it occurred during the day. The children also heard it and thought it was a bit chilling.

Eventually the Echo Lake Trail would take us into a vast forest with many trees then been around for centuries. In the forest its very easy to get turned around thankfully many of the trails are marked however they go everywhere through the woods to a variety of different lakes. What secrets will await us on the other side?

I decided to finish off our first exploration at a spot known as Lake Of The Woods which is beautiful with its granite islands and snow capped peaks off in the distance. I know I called this place lost lake of the woods I was misinformed it happens but nonetheless we have arrived now we just have to find a location that we can set up base camp at then from there we will gather any strange paranormal evidence that we can find.

This my friends is what a primitive lake looks like in the Desolation Wilderness up close! We would follow this lakes rocky shores that would take us up onto a small peninsula where we would have dinner at. There are some nice views of Pyramid Peak off in the distance and like many of the lakes located here the water is crystal clear as well as pristine.

This is our resting area ya know the spot where you let the boys be boys. One of them is playing in the water meanwhile the other one will say anything for tuna fish lol. This is more of a family video there is more to paranormal investigating then others think. Its not about what you see, hear or find its about those around you that make the journey worthwhile.

This mountain is composed of slabs of granite rock according to Tammy while I left to collect evidence she noticed two people standing at the top of this beast. In between the rocks are trees growing and eventually we would find some rock shelters. One of the goals of our group is to find hidden caves generally a place to start would be i
n an area li
ke this.

The only way over these rocks is to climb between a crevice and up onto a ledge hence why the video is so shaky and hard to see. What I did was put the camera strap around me then climbed with the camera in my hand so I wouldn't lose it down a hole. Its not an easy climb up for my son it is but for me with all the gear, camera, shotgun etc its quite the challenge one that would reveal to us rewards!

Dusk is setting on in however marshy areas in the granite basin are a rare find and a good one if that for track finding. I didn't really find any tracks in the grass however I did notice allot of it was flattened as if something big came through here. Not to far away from this site I found a track that resembled a human impression with toes however it was smaller then my foot so either its someone hiking barefoot in the wilderness or possibly a very young Sasquatch that has been hanging around this area. Just 50' away are also two dens where anything could seek shelter at.

These two small caves were formed when glaciers compiled the rocks onto one another. However the rule is never to leave any rock unturned as they may reveal hidden passages or maybe even Bigfoot evidence. I didn't find much of anything inside but a few small animal tracks and burnt firewood. However it was a nice little find that we could explore.

Tammy came through on the radio reporting to us that she heard a man scream, dogs barking then all of sudden a gunshot. I had assumed at the time that maybe someone was being attacked by something or maybe some kind of hunting accident its just hard to say because she heard it come from the other-side of the lake which means anywhere. At this point in time I was very worried about her being back at base alone so we had to put our hike into top gear to meet back up with her.

This is a clip of us heading on back to camp where Tammy met up with us. We honestly were not to far away but with all the rock climbing and cutting through the forest it sure made it a bit more difficult. I did ask everyone what they heard or seen when I arrived. This is an area you have to be careful in people die out here from the strangest things so my caution level at this point in time was very high.

My other camera ran out of juice so we used this one to film this so the quality isn't at all as great. However ill tell you what it is your looking at here. There are two trees next to one another. The ground leading up to the trees has these holes found in the dirt. Each of the trees also have holes that going on up for almost 20' high. One of the trees is missing bark probably from a bear. But the holes in the ground and both of the trees I have no explanation for. Not saying its paranormal but it is an oddity.

Nightfall is setting in we are starting to head away from Lake Of The Woods. At about 6:30 into the video if you turn up your speakers you will hear something whimpering/screaming. Unfortunately the cameras audio didnt pick it up as great as I wanted it to however what occurred is 3 to 4 screams however on the final one it sounded like something was being killed. It obviously is a predator picking its next meal Tammy shrugged it off probably because she knew we had at least 6 more miles back to the truck. Whatever made the kill caused great agony for its prey. Little did I know that something would began to follow us for at least three miles after we heard this would we be its next victim?

It is pitch black outside and the trees blanket us with a darkness. Its very easy at night to get turned around here some people even get lost. Your best bet is to camp however if your looking to get up close with Bigfoot this is the perfect hour of the night to have an encounter with such a creature. We had a very long ways back to the truck in total darkness. Tammy mentioned to me seeing lights behind me on the trail as she stayed a little ahead of us I decided to stay behind. Was it lights that she seen or maybe the eyes of something lurking from behind?

Jarrod mentioned to me first that he has been hearing something following us on a couple occasions. I really didn't think anything of it other then its probably a small nocturnal animal moving around the forest. Little did I know moments after this video something would approach us and it was big. What it was I have no idea see video 24 as I talk about what just occurred.

Jarrod and I stopped on the trail to take a water break near a large tall granite rock. Within moments we heard something big come down the trail it was breathing very fast through its nose it sounded like nothing I ever encountered in my entire life. We did not want to run but we grabbed our backpacks and we met back up with Tammy a half of mile ahead of us then I turned on the camera to talk about it when we separated ourselves from whatever it was. I spent all day hunting for Bigfoot but I think that whatever we heard earlier leaving Lake Of The Woods may have caught up to us. This experience probably was the most frightening one to date in the sierras. I didn't see what it was I shined my lights all over it was as if this thing was invisible breathing down our necks!

We have made our way to Echo Lake where there are lake houses and more civilization around. The further we hiked back into society the less strange things that occurred meaning that whatever we encountered stays only within the primitive areas. The trail is dark and enough to where my foot slipped off an edge and I almost did go over but managed to catch myself with my hands. The trail does have some steep areas you have to use caution day or night here.

We are nearing the end of our journey one that will eventually take us back to this primitive area again someday. Please listen to my final thoughts and conclusions about this location. I couldn't wait to get back to the truck we had hiked almost 14 miles and all I could think about is the ice cold root beers that were in my cooler lol.
