When I planned out the Rubicon Trail expedition I never knew much about it I just wanted my own little slice of heaven. Nothing beats getting some pumpkin spice coffee, breakfast and taking on off to a new destination. The very curvy road which goes all above Cascade Lake and Emerald Bay is a treacherous one. I know I found a car from over 50 years prior to our drive along the cliffs that had been incinerated and mangled. So to drive here did require some early morning concentration.

Little did I ever know that one day I would traverse the Rubicon Trail I mean although its so close to Tahoe it really has its offbeat moments depending on where you journey at. But its more then just a trail it can lead you to the worlds highest elevated lighthouse or take you along the cliffs of western Lake Tahoe where you get great views of the Carson Range afar. I must had seen at least three peaks alone I had climbed to the top off.

It was a Monday very rarely do I hike during the week so really we only ran into a few hikers. I have the utmost respect for the elderly who hike better then I can on this trail. This trail goes up and down the entire way. Allot of the stones set into place or natural stairwells seem like they were made for giants.

Now keep in mind that this part of the Rubicon is on the western edge of Lake Tahoe in D.L. Bliss State Park its not the one on the eastern edge of the lake where you can take your jeep onto. This part is more for hiking and exploring although many joggers use it as well along with some marathon events.

The first part of the hike was an ascension to the lighthouse which overlooks Tahoe it was not very powerful just a little wood shack maybe that produced if that 70 lumens of light. It was a nice little resting spot above the lake and a beautiful morning to match it. But to go with this lighthouse also comes allot of history between the early Washoe all the way to man building settlements along with lighthouses so that boats could navigate North Americas deepest lakes.

I will say this it gets a bit confusing hiking back here I had noticed different trails take you to different places. The other issue is that D.L. Bliss state park really over charges you to park here. You can just about going anywhere in the national forest in the sierras and park for free then hike. But paying to park here was 10 dollars because of the obvious that it is Lake Tahoe so its a bit touristy.

Our hike would follow us along the western shore of Tahoe actually heading south. The one noticeable thing is that their was an extreme military presence in the area. I am not saying the military does not fly over Tahoe I am saying it was a bit overkill with black helicopters, bombers and other sorts of planes scouring the lake.

I am not sure yet if this has any relation to the events that transpired in North Lake Tahoe at Slide Mountain but a few weeks ago I had seen a gold UFO hover over the lake in some fog. The object was massive, bright and it eventually shot off to orbit. The other smaller orb like objects remained and perhaps this is what put the military on high alert.

I had no expectations of finding anything paranormal allot of the work we do is preservation and photography. On occasion we might have an experience that will blow your minds that is just the truth but its not an all the time thing. So for more or less I wanted to take Tammy on out to enjoy a nice lake front jaunt.

The Rubicon is also known for its marathons and their is a part of it you can take your jeeps to offroad on. Its pretty rough and one can only imagine how important it is to stay on the trail otherwise risk going over the edge. There is allot of cliffs but eventually it starts to descend down onto the lake shore and its hidden coves.

Tammy and I were working our way towards Emerald Bay my plan was to veer eastward once we reached the peninsula and get out to a place called Emerald Point. Its this little inlet that separates lake Tahoe from the bay. From afar one could see the old steam boats slipping between the lake and the baby.

I could see Mt. Tallac off in the distance its hard to believe I hiked up around it a few weeks prior to all of this. I could also see Maggies Peak which we summated in September and the beginning of October its an amazing mountain.  Nature was quite abundant to we seen allot of flowers, butterflies, chipmunks and even birds. One of the birds came right up to my face on a branch tipped his head sideways and was trying to communicate with me.

Being on the trail seemed to be more like a lost paradise once we made our way towards our first cove you could see various hues of water. Water that was aqua, dark blue, green etc signifying the deeper areas along the shoreline found here. Along the shoreline below is also a swimming park below are sunken boats and other unique pieces of the past. There were allot of hikers out one of them did not pay attention and had gotten slapped in the face with my tripod. What was I supposed to do dive off the cliff? I apologized and she just huffed at me so goes life!

Once we reached the cove we could see to our left a way to follow the peninsula but it was rocky so we took our hike to the woods. We had no trails or set ways hell parts of the forest were so thick I had to make an accurate decision about which way to push towards to get to Emerald Point. I found some pretty big trees on the peninsula they survived the lumbering era pretty amazing and a rarity in this region. I also found this shelter made with long large logs leaning across a rock with some bedding. Its possible a human or bushwhacker made it but I would not discount it either as something Bigfoot made to keep himself out of the elements after all after observing it just like with the Kings Canyon shelter the longs were deeply embedded into the ground.

When Tammy and I came on out onto the peninsula it was a good feeling we could look southward and see the entire bay. Far off in the distance we could also see Vikingsholm Castle which we also hiked to from Eagle falls a few years prior to our other hikes in this region. The mountains surrounding Emerald Bay are amazing you sort of feel small because generally your higher up above the bay hiking those peaks but this time we were at the bottom of the Tahoe Basin staring up at the massive mountains of the sierras.

I went out on the rocks right beside the narrow channel a steam boat passed by waved at everyone. Then went over to some rocks and brush where we had a nice picnic. I felt bad for Tammy because at the time she was carrying a suit case backpack I thought hey that thing is good for like traversing Europe ehhhh not so great for the sierras lol.
Across from Emerald Point is Eagle Point the water in the channel is so low between the two peninsulas that one of the steamboats ended up getting stuck a few weeks prior to our hike here. But while having my picnic I had gotten to enjoy steamboats and even the beautiful Tahoe Queen so you should check it out in our video section.

On our way back in the woods I seen what could have been some old toe impressions our hike returning back was much easier perhaps because we seen a storm coming in which meant it was go to time not hang around get struck by lightening time lol.  It would be sensless to GPS the peninsula so I just kind of backtracked through the woods and passing some of the oldest trees right up onto the trail. This time we would not be ascending to up the lighthouse trail but when the trail splits we would descend right onto the same area we parked at which has a bunch of history plaques and such. The hike back is a bit rough considering its an ascension almost the entire way as we slowly climbed along the cliffs of Lake Tahoe.

I used this expedition to do survival and safety videos for our viewers afterall the path is very thin and it can be dangerous if your not aware all the time where your hiking. There are cliffs and in some cases erosion along the edges of the path. Just as if you want to leave the trail the brush will tear you up. Although we never finished the hike out to the castle we had now covered two regions which was the north and south ends of Emerald Bay.

Tammy and I had gotten back into the vehicle where we would have time to take a trail on up to this very unique site. They call this site the Balancing Rock which is two rocks being barely held up by a couple smaller interconnecting pieces. The sign did say eventually the large boulder on top would topple this is due to the elements I stood under it but in no way shape or form would I want to be under this thing when it goes. Not to far away was also a Washoe reconstructed teepee. This teepee though was secure inside with twine and it was much different then how the Miwok tribe built them. I never even knew the Washoe built these type of shelters so being a history buff it was a very fascinating find to study and go inside of. Not to far from the area I also found a large cave and a few smaller ones. Its possible it could be a bear or mountain lion den however the bigger cave could provide shelter in the winter when snow consumes the area and its inaccessible.

Our day was coming to an end actually things were not looking so great during our hike a massive storm system came through so by the time we reached the balancing rock the skies were gray and we felt some precipitation. I did not think much of it till we rolled into South Lake Tahoe and it was coming down so hard my wipers could not keep up with the storm. There was snow on the ground and even 12" piles of hail/sleet covering parts of the road and sidewalks. We had gotten hit hard and well nothing is more fun then hitting up the Brewery to wait the storm out which we did.

Tammy and I ordered a couple brews from "The Brewery" and some BBQ chicken wings. I will say this they are far to pricey and the food is just not that great. Half of my chicken wings were broke in half or missing while the beer was okay for a large glass tipped the scales considering I can go to other breweries and get pitches for the same price. So eating, drinking and partaking in Tahoe activities is very expensive we do them but that does not mean it does not cost us. All in all it was a fine day I had gotten some really beautiful photography on the west shore of Tahoe, exciting videos and allot of nature photography. Maybe this area of Tahoe is not as primitive or as paranormal but it still exist along the borders of some of the strangest happenings in the country so just being a part of it for me was a great experience.

Peace,
Lord Rick
PGS Founder

Here are a few dens I found on the expedition although some are to small to house a bigfoot they could a bear or mountain lion. However the one to the lower right is quite large and a bigfoot like creature could seek shelter here. Remember most Bigfoot creatures are nomadic they might bunk up somewhere for a short time and in the winter this cavern may provide some shelter for it to stay out of the elements.

I snapped these two photos of a black unmarked helicopter keep in mind that more then often our government denies the existence of their existence. I understand that the military may fly over Lake Tahoe its a large region. However just after the Slide Mountain incident where a massive ship rose out of the water then broke apart into multiple objects has me thinking that the military may have always been aware of this situation. Besides helicopters I also seen fighter jets and other military craft what is it they are watching for? I believe that underneath Tahoe is a USO/UFO base at the bottom of its depths although this is just a theory it seems plausible after what I witnessed here. You can see the Slide Mountain UFO case which overshadows Lake Tahoe by clicking the following link:
www.paranormalghostsociety.org/SlideMountain.htm

On the eastern edge of Lake Tahoe is a place called Cave Rock NV. Most of the cave is collapsed and the current highway does run through it. But still there is allot of legends that surround this cave such as the ghosts of a maiden who is very sacred to the Washoe. While the Lake Monster Tessie appears to have a lair in the deep waters below the cave. There is also rumors of water babies said to surround themselves around the cave. They were creatures with great power that could cause death and illness. The water babies I have concluded are an alien race that might be living in the depths of Lake Tahoe if that makes sense. Not to far from this cave is another cave which was home to a real giant and no he was not nice he more then likely ate some of the natives who journeyed without there tribe.

We found this heart and memorial in the woods on a peninsula that protrudes seperating Emerald Bay and Lake Tahoe. In order to get to the edge of Emerald Point you have to hike through woods there are no trails and its very dense. We just happened to come up on this and I thought id share it with our viewers.
Media

Take a drive with Lord Rick along the cliffs of Emerald Bay all the way to D.L. Bliss State Park. This is the ElDorado National Forest for us this would only be the start of our journey as we had plans to enter the trail to the reach a lighthouse and eventually. I once found an old car in the woods at the bottom of the cliffs its quite possible the driver and its passengers died. This area has a history of travesties one can only wonder about them while taking this scenic route.

Some of the greatest geniuses in the world were mad or at least crazy because they sought out a greater truth. In this clip I sort am trying to connect with our viewers about the paranormal in the region and about some of my more recent experiences in regards to Bigfoot and even UFOs. This area is full of lore such as a lake monster, water babies, UFOs, USO's, Bigfoot and even man eating giants. You might find my ramblings of interest or not either way I just am enjoying myself besides the fact that we had to pass a large group of hikers who were arguing. Life is to short to argue in the land of paradise don't you agree?

While roaming the woods on no set path on Emerald Point I found this very old makeshift shelter. The logs were deeply embedded into the ground so either its very old and the Earth is soft here or something was very serious about creating a safe haven. The logs were laying across the rock while some bedding was placed underneath but no less would provide some shelter from the elements. Could have been a bushwhackers design or maybe Sasquatch himself nobody knows for sure! But it was made using only the nature that surrounds it and the deep embedded logs are very similar to the Kings Canyon Shelter!

Although this video talks bout me nearly losing my pants, mini Lord Ricks and feeling a bit anorexic it does try to cover one important find. That find would be this small den which is big enough for a mountain lion or maybe a black bear which I am sure utilize when the state park shuts down for the cooler months. We would have some of our last views of the coves but also from afar see the peak we would have to summit in order to get to the jeep the journey would test us besides the weather was not looking so great.

I called this area a primates playground afterall its perfect with allot of big trees, stumps, rock formations, foliage and steep inclines. You have to understand that a creature like Bigfoot could easily make its way from the Desolation Wilderness to this area which flourishes in wildlife and of course the fresh cool waters of Lake Tahoe further below. There are also ceanothus, chinquapins, gooseberries, currants, huckleberries and manzanita's.Such foliage may be edible to a primate like creature since there intestines are longer then that of a human so there definitely is food, water and of course vastness for such a creature to make a migratory home here.

I found a couple small hidden dens but when I pan to my left I reveal to you a very large cave. Due to the storm I did not get to explore it but from what I could tell the foliage kind of grew in front of it yet the top half of its large entrance was exposed. We have to take into consideration that maybe the natives may have used the cave for cold storage for there meats or that at one time maybe a Sasquatch dwelling in it during the winter to stay out of the elements one must wonder its history or how big of a room it opens up into.

Tammy actually filmed this video and you can see everything from cliffs to hair pin turns. The ride to and from D.L. Bliss one is an exciting one which takes place all above Emerald Bay and Cascade Lake. Sure some places have guard rails but not all and so you really have to know the road quite well as there is one area that your tires come within a foot and half from a cliff. I actually was up on these curves during the winter of 2011 at a place called Inspiration Point which we pass on by. Anyone care to take a ride with me as we leave behind D.L. Bliss State Park?

I learned allot living in the mountains and that is to expect the unexpected whether its the paranormal or strange weather patterns. In this case we went from driving in a hail, snow and thunderstorm all at the same time. This portion of the trip you see is at South Lake Tahoe which is a considerably large city but no less winters here can be harsh and as I said with the plant life in an earlier video in this series winter is coming soon. I seen at one point 4 inches of ice and snow buildup just a little bit after the middle of August! Freak weather or just another day in the mountains you decide? After our drive through the storm which we made it to the jeep in time we decided to head on over to the The Brewery so we could order some ales and eat some chicken wings.
The Brewery At South Lake Tahoe NV

After the expedition Tammy and I decided to bunk down at a place called "The Brewery" granted they have some interesting variestes of brews they are very expensive. We ordered a plate of chicken wings sweet BBQ I believe and most of them were very small. Some of them were broken while others were just a quarter of a few chicken wings thus we did not get even the full order we asked for. Its like someone put them in the fryer through them on a plate and never even checked the quality of the food.  The service, high prices and the wings were horrible it is like they gave us just pieces of chicken wings which some of the ends of the drums were missing. On occasion my team and I like to go out to dinner, brews etc after a major expedition its just something nice we can do to unwind after a hard days of exploring. I will not go here again we have other favorite places but they lost me as a customer if you want to dine and drink at a real brewery there are far better ones in the region that have great food and are more reasonably priced for what they are giving you! I did take some photos to show you are after adventure party it is what it is the beer I had was great though.
