One of the greatest things about our paranormal group is that sometimes even years in advance we set out goals for ourselves. My goal a few years ago has always been to visit this historic hospital. I mean lets face it the hospital is a reminder of what wild western history stood for.

We would start off walking the grounds which have large trees including an old mine cart near a mine nearby. I took some photos of the caretakers home along with the hospital. We walked around a couple times then I walked on in and found the curator. She probably was a bit surprised to see Lord Rick dressed like Santa Claus but hey it was the holidays!

No matter where you are in Virginia City this is large building it can be seen just about anywhere. I had contacted the art enter and told them that I would like to do an investigation of the hospital and they did give us permission. So it was a real treat for us and for those three hundred locals who dissed our group ha ha you missed out on a damn good investigation.

I did not just get to investigate it but the curator who actually told me she snuck in the place when it was abandoned gave me some really great stories to go with the place.

When you first walk in their is a kitchen to the right and most of the bottom floor rooms are now offices. However all the rooms and offices have allot of antiques which fit the time period. I also was able to see the old kitchen and amazingly you can see the brick work right through some of the walls.

The wood floorings, art work on the walls, beautiful carpets and stairwells are just amazing. I mean some of the rooms have old lamps and furnishings. Its a well maintained place and I was lucky enough to see about 90 percent of the hospital. There is a care taker house and a few rooms your not allowed in.

I did not see much medical equipment remaining but their was an art room while many pieces just hung on the walls. I am thinking about doing a painting and donating it to the center in the future.

I did see some creepy art in the attic their was also a room that was in really bad shape that had a water tank. On a wood chair a beat up teddy bear pieces of wall missing and it just felt a little dark. On that same floor was a series of spooky looking paper mache figures.

Their was another area with a cross on the wall this is where the nuns spent most of their time at. They all had very small beds and slept in the same area. I been doing this a very long time and out of the entire hospital that room had a presence ill leave it at that. I was alone because I actually went off on my own to do some of the investigation while Tammy talked with the curator.

It was very quiet in the hospital you could hear a pin drop and well we could not do EMF readings because electricity does run throughout the building.

I was a bit disappointed when they told me its 1100 to stay the night there because honestly two years ago it was 35 dollars for a five hour ghost hunt. Its not really fair considering how much I plan on promoting the art center literally I am sending thousands of people and donations there way but it is what it is. I was lucky enough to at least get a good investigation in with the time that I had. I also made a donation on my way out and have no problem with it since it goes towards a good cause.

Buildings like this we want to make sure stay open, preserved and can be available so that others can enjoy it like we did. I also seen a laundry or utility room, hatch in the attic and some other secret closet behind the stairs.

There was two organs in the hall along with that one of the rooms was a lounge with a chess board. I also read this little historical piece about miners who died and one of them one injured so bad his arm was sliced off. I was very amazed at the fact that these nuns helped those in need not for money but out of their hearts.

We no longer live in a society like this just as buildings like these no longer exist. This place has allot of ghost activity day or night which is what made it such a fun investigation. I never knew what might be around the next corner or what might be found in a forgotten room.

I did notice that the hospital echoes when you talk so I had to keep it quiet when doing EVP sessions. I would not mind spending the night I was told the balcony upstairs is closed but is being repaired. That would be a really great photo of me standing on it so I definitely will return here.

Aside from some of the creepy art their are some very unique pieces here. The hospital is very pristine its kind of like walking back into the 1800's that is what I really adore about it.

The rest your just going to have to find out on your own by delving deeper into our site regarding the history and media content that we are sharing. I would love to revisit here and if we can find a big enough group we can split the cost spending the entire night here. However I did not have to spend the night to find out that the hospital is indeed haunted.

Originally we were supposed to investigate the Mackay Mansion first but they were not opened yet so I had to wait for the caretaker to let us in. So I sort of hopped back and forth between both historic landmarks. This was the perfect holiday investigation and yes I wore my Santa beard and hat for nearly the entire investigation. I even had the curator laughing but what can I say it kept me warm as the night before it had snowed so it gets cold up in the Virginia City region.

But finally three years laid to rest after driving past it, hiking around the building and reading all these great ghost stories it is just another great site we can cross off the list. Were slowly but surely investigating every inch of Virginia City. We actually have done more projects there then almost any other group.

We really had gotten an in depth history of the hospital but a look at what this place was like. At one time it use to be an abandoned building where kids partied its amazing the work that has been done to it over time to restore it to its former glory. Its a sad site to you can feel it I mean people died here from sickness, accidents and other tragedies.

Its a great place and I look forward to a second investigation here I believe that their is much more to be seen including the ghost of the white nun! I wanted to thank St. Mary's Art Center for giving us permission to explore the hospital freely and allow us to investigate it. We hope that we can bring them some tourism, ghosthunters and donations so that they can continue to remain open for the public to enjoy!

We captured these two figures peering out the window down onto to us. The figure to the left is a bit harder to make out but the figure to the right appears to be that of a woman. I have enhanced and enlarged the pcitures to give you a better perspective of the apparitions. It is not uncommon for others to see ghostly nuns peer our the windows. I mean even walking around the hospital day or night you always feel aached here.

This is just that an anomaly very close to the carpet and obviously some energy. No its not dust it is blurred which means its in motion and might be what they call a globule which is basically a small mass of ectoplasm that moves around. This part of the hospital was very active its considered one of the more haunted wards of the hospital. We do not have an answer for it other then as of now it remains unexplained.
