Demons

Demons i am very open about on what they are and could be. Most people picture demons with horns and yes some do got them and most are annoyances or trouble. I have had quite a few different encounters with them everything from doing an exorcism for a mothers son since there family had a demon that would cause them havoc for years, to photographing one. This i can tell you they are REAL they do exist and caution must be taken when dealing with these creatures. They can cause sickness, possess, claw a person and much more. Some demons have different agends some feed of the negative energy the weak the ones who eat unhealthy, do not worship a god or goddess, some who do not sleep well. Clearly the way to see a demon in a possessed person is to look into the eyes which is the window to the soul there face will take on that demon. My theory of them is that some of them are fallen angels perhaps they are one of the most ancient species here on earth. There is a theory on how demons are born lets say you have a man who is evil, lust for power, hurts other lets say when he dies this carries on that negative energy manifest the truth look of the soul pretty much some souls are beautiful balls of light but lets say that mans soul manifest into something with horns something that would depict his evil after that soul crosses the astral plane this is what happens.  I sometimes get demons confused with inter dimensional beings and they are very deceiving and feed off your weakness. Ways to beat a demon a holy figure, power passages from a bible we say, a long sword, or simply being more powerful as a person then it. The demons i have seen all look different i seen one in the form of a black shadow in a cave, i have seen one in a cemetery very tall all black long fingers hunched over, the one i photographed is half beast, the one i exorcised looked like the devil and i rid of one in my apt years ago that was similar to the shadow i seen in the cave. The pope knows more about demons then he says the church is very quiet about the monsters that lurk around us. I cannot say all demons are bad compassion and love are more powerful then evil and all creatures you must respect ghost, bigfoot and even demons. They are bold and they are not afraid to show up on your camera demonologist work very much with this and thats a very dangerous field. On the other theory there is many cults, kids that play in the field of demonology and they call up demons to do there bid this is a no no you cannot trust something that you do not know and you will be tricked. Opening up portals to call one forth and some do control them but eventually in theory we are only human and demons are obviously ancient and to an extent have some amount of power. A great site that deals with demon strengths, weaknesses, types, or gins, comparison of demons, downloadable books on them is  http://demons.monstrous.com/index.htm or you can check out this demon encyclopedia which tells a history of over a few hundred demons and there names. http://www.geocities.com/spikes_beloved/Demon_Encyclopedia.html

Demons

(Greek daimon and daimonion, Lat. daemonium).

In Scripture and in Catholic theology this word has come to mean much the same as devil and denotes one of the evil spirits or fallen angels. And in fact in some places in the New Testament where the Vulgate, in agreement with the Greek, has daemonium, our vernacular versions read devil. The precise distinction between the two terms in ecclesiastical usage may be seen in the phrase used in the decree of the Fourth Lateran Council: "Diabolus enim et alii daemones" (The devil and the other demons), i.e. all are demons, and the chief of the demons is called the devil. This distinction is observed in the Vulgate New Testament, where diabolus represents the Greek diabolos and in almost every instance refers to Satan himself, while his subordinate angels are described, in accordance with the Greek, as daemones or daemonia This must not be taken, however, to indicate a difference of nature; for Satan is clearly included among the daemones in James 2:19 and in Luke 11:15-18. But though the word demon is now practically restricted to this sinister sense, it was otherwise with the earlier usage of the Greek writers. The word, which is apparently derived from daio "to divide" or "apportion", originally meant a divine being; it was occasionally applied to the higher gods and goddesses, but was more generally used to denote spiritual beings of a lower order coming between gods and men. For the most part these were beneficent beings, and their office was somewhat analogous to that of the angels in Christian theology. Thus the adjective eydaimon "happy", properly meant one who was guided and guarded by a good demon. Some of these Greek demons, however, were evil and malignant. Hence we have the counterpart to eudamonia "happiness", in kakodaimonia which denoted misfortune, or in its more original meaning, being under the possession of an evil demon. In the Greek of the New Testament and in the language of the early Fathers, the word was already restricted to the sinister sense, which was natural enough, now that even the higher gods of the Greeks had come to be regarded as devils.

We have a curious instance of the confusion caused by the ambiguity and variations in the meaning of the word, in the case of the celebrated "Daemon" of Socrates. This has been understood in a bad sense by some Christian writers who have made it a matter of reproach that the great Greek philosopher was accompanied and prompted by a demon. But, as Cardinal Manning clearly shows in his paper on the subject, the word here has a very different meaning. He points to the fact that both Plato and Xenophon use the form daimonion, which Cicero rightly renders as divinum aliguid, "something divine". And after a close examination of the account of the matter given by Socrates himself in the reports transmitted by his disciples, he concludes that the promptings of the "Daemon" were the dictates of conscience, which is the voice of God.

It may be observed that a similar change and deterioration of meaning has taken place in the Iranian languages in the case of the word daeva. Etymologically this is identical with the Sanskrit deva, by which it is rendered in Neriosengh's version of the Avesta. But whereas the devas of Indian theology are good and beneficent gods, the daevas of the Avesta are hateful spirits of evil. (See also DEMONOLOGY.)

About Demons

Unlike human spirits, inhuman spirits have never actually "lived" on earth and are generally thought of as evil. There are evil human spirits but their capabilities are the same as mentioned above. Demons are a completely different story. Demons will, if given the opportunity, use an evil human spirit to do its dirty work while it sits in the background. Their sole purpose for existence is to destroy humankind in any way possible. Whether if it's through tormenting the living or keeping a human spirit from passing, it makes no difference. They delight in the ruin of man. They usually only make appearances at night, during the absence of natural light. I stress natural light because a lamp, nightlight or whatever, during the night is not natural light. Demons are "low level" entities which are commanded by devils (covered next) to harass anything associated with God. Many people have asked: "If I'm a good, religious person, will they try to come after me?" The sad answer is yes. In all actuality, the holier or more religious a person is, the greater the victory for them. Demons have no morals, they will attack the weak, ignorant or young because they are more defenseless. The ultimate goal of a demon (or devil) is the possession of a living person, to feel what it is like to live. They are jealous of humans because for that reason and that is one of their primary reasons for wanting to destroy us. When we talk about possession, there are guidelines by which demons usually follow before having the ability to possess. Most humans have a strong enough will to where a demon cannot just "enter" them. That will needs to be broken down first. There are three stages in the possession of a person. Each is designed for the ultimate goal of breaking down the will. Infestation is the first. Infestation is the initial entry of the spirit into a person's life. Normally, a demon must be invited, or given permission for the process to begin. Several things can cause this to happen, either by basically asking it to appear as with conjuring, or by simple attraction. If an evil deed has been committed, such as a mortal sin, that may attract a negative spirit. Keep in mind you don't have to be the person to cause the infestation. A prior tenant or house owner may have invited something that you were not aware of. During this phase, the intent of the demon is to provoke fear in its intended victim(s) which throws off negative energy which it uses to feed itself. That also begins the process of breaking down the will. Once the demon has situated itself and has begun taking hold on its victim(s), then it starts the next phase... oppression. During this phase, as is what took place in Canadian Chaos, objects will be tossed about and apported, people will be physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually abused, and so forth. All the stops are pulled during this phase. Anything and everything that can happen, will. It may rain rocks or frogs or fish, your kitchen chairs may walk into the living room, etc. This phase is designed to complete the breakdown of the human will. If a person gives up, they release their will and open the door for the final phase... possession. Once a person is possessed, without immediate intervention from the church, the odds are great of that person dying. "Exactly what are demons capable of?" They can physically hurt a person but very rarely will they kill someone. There is a reason for that. God allows them to roam the earth but they are not allowed to outright kill. If they do kill a person, they are now breaking one of God's laws and can be cast off the earthly plane for eternity, they do not want that. That's why you'll often hear of knives or heavy objects being hurled directly at someone's face but stop millimeters from them and drop to the floor.

About Devils

Devils are the "high level" entities of the legion. They will normally not get involved with people because they do not want their identity known. If it is something a demon can handle, the devils will let them take care of it but if a demon has not been able to produce the desired results, a devil may step in to finish the job. If a devil does get involved, there are always at least one demon working in conjunction. Devils are capable of almost anything, spontaneous combustion of material (curtains, houses... almost anything), materializations (usually of something vile such as excrement, vomit, or the like), holy items may be turned upside down, hidden, covered or desecrated. Unlike what human spirits can do, Devils can make something appear from nothing, or no where. They can lift objects of great weight (300+ pounds). They can dismantle an automobile engine, they can bend objects thought unbendable, they can make refrigerators dance around the kitchen. They are the brains, the strategy behind the attack. They tell the demons what to do and the demons do it. Devils work directly for Lucifer, they do his will.  Devils are extremely intelligent, they have the "wisdom of the ages".  Their attacks can be outright barrages or the most subtle, devious, and thought out process of setting a person up and slowly destroying their lives.  They revel in the misery they cause their victims and the absolute feeling of hopeless they make their victims feel only enables them to grow stronger and more deeply imbedded to the cause.  Even without total possession of a person, they can still maintain full control over them.  How can they do that?  They become such a part of the victim's life, and being, that the victim feels "empty" or lost without that presence.  Therefore, the person's will and entire being come in danger of impending possession.  Devils are THE most dangerous entities anyone can encounter and when a person comes in the presence of one, that person knows instantly that their entire BEING is in danger, it's a feeling the person will carry with them throughout their entire life, it can never be rationalized away... it can never be forgotten.

What are demons?

This page is part of our study on deliverance

Demons are evil spirits that are part of a highly organized satanic kingdom on earth and in the heavenlies.   This kingdom is ruled by Satan and has a specific hierarchy of power (Ephesians 6:12, Ephesians 2:2; Matthew 12:24-27).   The definition of the Greek word for demon (daimonion: Strong's #1140) gives us more clues about what a demon is:

  • the divine power, deity, divinity
  • a spirit, a being inferior to God, superior to men
  • evil spirits or the messengers and ministers of the devil

Origin:   There are two theories about demonic origin that I'd like to highlight.  Both theories hold that demons are created beings who rebelled against  God:

  • Fallen angels:  Satan, formerly Lucifer, was the “covering” cherub of the throne of God (Ezekiel 28:14-16).  When he sinned by pride, he persuaded a third of the angels to rebel against God (Revelation 12:4).  Satan and his angels were cast out of heaven to earth (Isaiah 14:12, Ezekiel 28:16-17, Luke 10:18).  This theory proposes that demons are the “fallen angels.”
  • Disembodied spirits:   Isaiah 14:12,16,17,20 suggests that Satan was the leader of a race of beings prior to Adam.   Ultimately this race was destroyed by God with a worldwide flood, explaining the condition of the earth in Genesis 1:2 (dark and covered with water).  This theory proposes that demons are the disembodied spirits of the pre-adamic race.

Regardless of their origin, the fact is that demons exist today just as during Jesus' ministry.  The Bible gives us much guidance on how to deal with them under the authority of Jesus Christ.

Characteristics of Demons:

  • The demons that we encounter on earth seem to prefer to inhabit bodies (Revelation 18:2, Matthew 12:43-44, Mark 5:12).
  • Communal:  Demons often live and work together.  Jesus explained that when re-inhabiting a former host person, a demon will take seven spirits more wicked than himself and reoccupy the person (Matthew 12:43-45).  Examples of communal demons are found in Mark 16:9 (Mary's seven demons) and Mark 5:9 (man with a legion of demons).
  • Demons have intellect and will (Matthew 12:43-45; Mark 5:6-13)
  • Demons vary in level of wickedness (Matthew 12:43-45; Mark 5:6-13)
  • Vary in power level and endurance:  they require rest (Matthew 12:43-44; Mark 5:6-13); some are only routed through prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21, Mark 9:29)
  • Recognize that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and those operating in his authority (Mark 1:24-26; Mark 5:10-13; Acts 19:15)

Capabilities of Demons

  • Can travel (Matthew 12:43-45)
  • Can cause sickness, disease, fever, physical abnormalities, mental torment, alterations of voice
  • Can fight with God's angels (Daniel 10:13,20; Revelation 12:7)
  • Can influence human events (Revelation 16:13-14)
  • Can speak through a person’s voice and see through their eyes (Acts 19:15)
  • Can affect the "state" of their host person (Matthew 12:43-45) ranging from total possession (Mark 5:2-8) to periodic influence (Mark 9:17-18).  They are able to influence the emotions, thoughts and actions of their host toward destruction.  Examples include the Gerasene demoniac cutting himself in Mark 5:5 and the boy who was being thrown into the fire in Mark 9:22.
  • Can invigorate people with extraordinary strength (Acts 19:16)
  • Can deceive people and draw people away from the truth, enticing them by their own desires (2 Chronicles 18:20-22, Luke 4:1-13, James 1:14 inferred, Acts 5:3)

Why do demons access humans?

  • To fulfill their master’s mission:  Satan, also known as Beelzebub, is the ruler of all demons (Luke 11:15-20; Matthew 12:24-27).  Satan’s mission is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10).  Likewise, demons will try to steal, kill and destroy whatever they can ( Luke 11:17-18).   They will also attempt to take people captive by deception to do the Satan's will (2 Timothy 2:25-26).
  • They desire a body:  Bodies apparently offer demons rest and/or shelter.  Jesus explained that after being cast out of a body, an unclean spirit goes through dry places seeking rest and finds none.  It tries to return to the person it left (Luke 11:24-26; Matthew 12:43-45).
  • God allows them to for judgment purposes:  Saul's tormenting spirit (1 Samuel 16:14);  lying spirit & Ahab (2 Chronicles 18:19-22); Jehoram's fatal illness (2 Chronicles 21:12-15)
  • To oppose God's plans and purposes:  Demons are often sent to try to block or thwart God's servants.  This can manifest in many ways including depression, sickness, confusion, temptation, doubt, etc. The purpose is usually to weaken faith (2 Timothy 1:5-9), since faith is the key ingredient for fighting spiritual warfare.

How do demons access humans?

  • Our sin gives them "legal" right to enter:  Sin gives demons footholds in us for oppression.  Jesus told the sick man, “Go and sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you”  (John 5:5-14).   Bible examples of other sin footholds for demons: 1 Samuel 15:22; 1 Samuel 16:14; Luke 22:3-6; Acts 5:2; 1 Timothy 6:9-10; Numbers 5:18-30.
  • Curses from sin (1 Samuel 14:24; Numbers 5:18-28; Genesis 9:24-25; 2 Samuel 6:20-23):  Our sin can bring curses upon us and our descendants.  Demons are empowered to work according to these curses.  For example, patterns of sexual sin like divorce or adultery can often be traced down through family histories.
  • Trauma:  Spirits of fear can access us during traumatic events.  Since faith acts a shield, fear (faith's opposite) weakens the shield when we doubt God will protect us.  This leaves us vulnerable to a spirit of fear.  One of Satan's principal objects is to take people into bondage to fear (Romans 8:15; Hebrews 2:14-15).
  • Violated oaths (Numbers 5:18-28; Matthew 5:33-37; James 5:12):  If we break an oath that we have taken, we can bring a curse on ourselves, giving evil spirits right of entry to execute the curse on us.
  • Idle words/word curses (James 3:6,8; Mathew 12:35-37; 2 Timothy 2:16-17):  Our words can be used powerfully for good or evil.  They can be used to edify or destroy a person.  Idle words can enact a curse on ourselves or those we've spoken to.  Examples of idle words:  "This job will be the death of me," "You'll never amount to anything in life," "I hope he rots in hell,"  "I'm bound to get cancer since it's in my family history."  When a curse is spoken, demons are empowered to work according to what was said.
  • Satanic assignment:  The Bible mentions instances where Satan asked for God's permission to oppress people (Job 2:1-7; Luke 22:31).  If granted permission, Satan may assign his forces to work evil against a person.
  • Judgment:  In some cases God may allow demons to afflict a person when they have failed to receive "the love of the truth" and/or have delighted in evil.  2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 describes this situation where God sends a powerful delusion on rebellious people so that they will believe the devil's lies.  "Lying spirits" are the typical demons specializing in deception that may gain entry in this case.
  • Broken spiritual covering/being delivered to Satan:  This can occur when a person leaves or is expelled from the body of Christ.  When a church "delivers" a person to Satan, they withdraw fellowship and spiritual covering from the person in hopes that the person will repent from his sin and return to God (1 Corinthians 5:5; 1 Timothy 1:20).  Once out of fellowship, the person is vulnerable to demonic attack targeting the flesh.
  • Broken faith:  Since faith is our shield in spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:16), any lack of faith could make us vulnerable to attack.  With a weakened shield, Satan's darts may wound us, giving demons a foothold.   Doubt is a common tool Satan uses to destroy faith and breed confusion (James 1:6-8).

Photos taken courtesy of cnn clearly shows a demonic face in the smoke. My belief as to why this occured is because it was such a dramatic death and moment that anything evil in the area was able to absorb all this evil energy. The evil that occured all at one moment manifested itself into a demon. The demon you see here is probably not lucifer but if you notice it is grinning because it wanted to be seen perhaps as a way to say i exist, i am supreme and here i am. Demons are smart creatures they need human souls to be able to thrive. The fall of the twin towers was prophecized hundreds of years ago and of course are included in the countdown to doomsday perhaps this is the start of it. Regardless demons do exist and they are an incarnation of pure evil.
