Sorry for
the late report just been taking a couple days off to rest up it was a
long weekend of paranormal events and hiking. This investigation was
real big for us cause it was a new region for the group to explore so I
was not sure what kind of things we would run into.
We had
Andrew & Jason on the adventure so definitely our team has grown a
little bit lately. Its very hard finding others who can show loyalty and
hard work. But it does pay off in the end believe me when I say this.
We did
four locations Saturday which were Strawn Historic Citrus Packing Plant,
Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, Welaka National Forest & Mt. Royal Indian Mound, and
The Lake Como Pomona Park Cemetery. It was an extremely busy night for
us and as always VERY adventurous to the very end.
We
left a little earlier then usual for this trip and good thing we did
cause we had to stop for some odds and ends for the cooler. We started
off with the packing plant and our adventure begins here.
Strawn
Historic Citrus Packing Plant
I
have been wanting to visit this place for a very long time so to be able
to do so was a big treat. It fits the whole Florida theme really since
citrus is real big down here. We stopped at a gas station and we could
not find the road to turn down on sometimes out here in FL roads are not
marked unfortunately the whole area is just that way when you go out
into the back roads.
I
figured I would take a gamble and drive around towards where it would be
and we went off roading for awhile in the woods. I was dodging fallen
trees and eventually we came out right nearby the factory. I was pretty
excited lol just driving past it gave all of us a thrill. Seeing the
dark water tower and weathered buildings.
I
mean the area looked huge and it was very overgrown. Jason climbed all
the way up the side of this building. I am not even sure what it was
maybe it was some sort of machinery shop. It had a chute attached
to it. Nearby was a few oranges on the ground. The buildings appeared to
be covered in a lot of vines.
We
climbed up on a platform which goes to a few different buildings. The
first building we entered was the main warehousing area. There were
double doors and right away you could tell this place was like a sweat
shop.
There
was machinery, sinks, chutes, signs, break room administration office,
wood crates, fans, wagons, scales and so much more. You will see by
viewing the photos.
We
walked around the main building and there were signs of vandals and I
heard a lot of sounds I really cannot explain. It did not help that
there was a bad thunder storm so it was raining when we drove here and
raining as we walked to each building on site.
The
dripping sounds in the main building were constant. But I did hear some
movement and other things here that I really cannot say they are or are
not ghost. There was a very big feeling of being watched and a hole in
the floor leading to some hidden basement. Looked like someone had
thrown a few bags of junk down there.
It
appeared that a lot of things were left behind I know the reason for
this but I will save it for the historical prologue. The plant was
really interesting and we spent most of our time in here. I did not feel
alone here I think all of us felt something was stirring here. Its a
very old place lots of creaks including spray paint that says leave or
die.
After
leaving the plant we visited another building which the door was ripped
almost off the hinges. This was the chemicals and pesticides building.
Almost all of it was left behind here yeah we felt real safe in here you
probably needed a gas mask just in case. There was a lot of crates,
ladders, and other things stored in here. Not any ghost activity though.
We
climbed on out and nearby was a giant barn. Its quite rare to see a barn
of this size in FL its not like up north you see them all over. So this
was my favorite part of the investigation. We walked into the barn
and to the right was a giant tire and press machine of some kind. Jason
right away ran to the ladder climbed up onto the second floor. This
ladder was very high up. Next you know Jason was pulling up these chains
with these hooks and he convinced me to come on up.
When
I got up to the top I was amazed there was an old rocker, piano, wagon
wheel, and wagon of some kind. A lot of history up here and there was
this narrow bridge we had to cross to get to it on the other side. Trust
me it was not a pleasant walk as high up as it was.
We
took some photos and looked around back down on the bottom where we seen
the old Kendall oil barrels. The barn was a cool place made some great
exploring.
After
we walked out of there I took some photos of another building which was
locked down. Next to it was two giant gas tanks and the guys took on off
so I was alone for a little bit. I took this narrow path between two
buildings and came out near and old vehicle. Then
I took some photos of the water tower.
The guys
were checking the outside of some warehouse actually it was a giant work
shop. Nothing but tools, gaskets, buckets, signs, power saws, belts,
hoses, car parts, and hundreds of other objects just hanging off hooks.
Jason pointed out a furnace that had animal bones in it. This area
was very hazardous hard to even move around.
The final
area we explored was the administration building. When we entered there
was a room with a safe and fireplace. The room with the safe had a hole
in the wall and it was ransacked. There was desk in here, typewriters,
book shelves, files, pay stubs etc I definitely felt a presence in this
area. We even found another safe and Andrew went into that room and
explored it. That walk in safe room was also ransacked. We also found a
second fireplace in here and one of those old televisions.
All the
curtains in this building were torn it looked like a seen for a horror
movie. We wrapped up the investigation inside after looking at bits of
history and started our hike back to the truck. We passed a Chevron
Service Station and some tanks near the plant. We did not see them
coming on in. So the plant basically had everything from gasoline pumps,
to its own maintenance area, pesticides area, storage barn, plant etc.
The last
part of the investigation was our hike down the railroad tracks. I felt
some pretty harsh cold spots on the tracks we were relieved to get back
to the truck. The plant turned out to be a very eerie place. You could
just feel the ghost watching quietly as we turned every dark corner
here. After our adventure we visited our next location which was the
Fruitland Methodist Cemetery.
