Seminole Rest

For so long I wanted to go here that I made this our 400th location.  It was great Jason made it to Florida in time for this one and so sad to bad for those investigators who decided to let this organization down by not showing. I did not know what to expect here I mean this place is one of the best intact Indian Mounds in the country and fairly large. I read alot of history on it and cannot wait to share it when I get the updates done within the week.

We parked at the trail head and then got out to began our hike. We right away passed a screened in gazebo. I could have used one of those in Mosquito Lagoon last week ago ha ha.

We got a few hundred feet down the path and the same cop with the spotlight was in the trail head parking area. I ignored him and kept walking I already knew he would not follow us onto Indian burial ground especially alone. He did leave as I called it and after that we had nothing but woods, a gloomy river, and various haunted locations to ourselves!

We made our hike past the Indian mound it was pretty wide rather then tall with a few scattered twisted trees growing on top of it. I passed the Indian mound and decided to hike to some pioneer/historical houses in the area. We investigated those but they will be in separate reports.

When we finished our houses we spent alot of time reading various plaques along a trail. One of them showed a group of Indians fighting this mega sized alligator. It looked pretty wicked and gave you an idea of what these Timucuan's had to face along the Indian River.

I spent sometime looking out at the Indian River it was very gloomy no movement, no breeze and those crazy mosquito's we encountered up in Cape Canaveral were bothering me here. I was looked across the Indian River and just thinking wow we were on the other side hiking all night just last week ago. You could see the thick forest across the other side. It was a quiet night just very eerie out their and the moon became covered so it was pretty dark accept for a little tiny fishing boat way off in the distance.

We walked up on the Indian Mound and alot of the dirt and grass was gone. I seen alot of oyster shells some of them still in tact. Amazing that we were walking on such an old archaeological site and still even more so we were able to see the shells from this midden. I opened up a beer and held it up as we completed this place. It was a real nice accomplishment for the group and last night I just let loose.

I felt pretty watched on the mound something maybe more advanced but not anything hostile. Perhaps just as if we caught something's curiosity. Off in the distance I could see vehicles in the parking area and I thought oh great more trouble. Then some guys starting hiking down the trail but I was on the Indian mound just watching them as they went on one loop and we were on the other side so basically we would not meet up with them.  We then moved on and finished the trail along the river and ended up back at the gazebo.

We had some fun at the gazebo taking photos and I went inside to enjoy a nice getaway from the mosquito's. I had bug spray but really did not want to use it figured I could battle these bugs since I built up quite a resistance to them from last weeks venture.

We exited into the parking lot took some more photos and then this guy came up to me. He told me he needs a ride to town cause he ran out of gas. We had no room so we decided not to help besides the fact I did not trust him.

After we started pulling away I seen a little boy, woman, and another guy. So I had Nikki put it in reverse and told the guy that if he gives some money/gas can we could run to town get him some gas. We drove about 12 miles till we could find a open gas station. Jason went in and paid I filled up the can. Yes we took some photos lol. We eventually got the gas back to the people and it made me feel good to help someone out. Cause I know what its like to be stranded its happened a few times to me like when an investigator left me in the middle of a blizzard in the woods.

But we did our good deed so do not forget PGS is here to save the day lol. After Seminole Rest we did visit the Dummett Grave but before I get to that let me give you a report about the haunted houses we visited while on our hike. The first one is the Instone House.
