Sanford Evergreen Cemetery

We looked at the map of the cemetery and their was an empty new brick building behind it. We did not enter the building because it looked like a place where funeral ceremonies perhaps were held and it was locked up. But I felt something near the building it was obvious it held some significance to the cemetery.

We kept taking a road which led to an area with very large trees and the cemetery became very dark. Many of the graves here were very new lots of flowers. I did not sense much here although we did not explore the whole cemetery. We went rather width wise then taking the back roads where its heavily wooded.

I side tracked off the road to grab some photos. James was with me while the others walked back along the tree line.  We took some photos and I grabbed a couple in front of the giant brick entrance.

I took a few photos here but after what we seen in the previous cemetery I was really just still in shock over it. When you go into a cemetery that vandalized then enter such a pleasant one a few hundred feet later it really makes you wonder what happened. I mean you can go into one cemetery and feel a difference in activity.

We spent a little bit of time and decided to head on out cross back into All Souls Cemetery where I grabbed a few shots. Then we concluded our investigation.

After the investigation we spent alot of time looking for two more cemeteries down the road. Sadly either cemetery we could not find. Lee went in to ask directions they said the road does not exist despite the fact maps and websites say it does. So we spent a good hour just driving around searching for a historical cemetery which we did not find. I was so upset because every gas station phone book was missing go figure its Sanford they probably were used by someone to cook there hotdogs and burgers.

We decided to make one last attempt and seen a gate in this wooded area where there was a gravel road. Lee and I hiked back in here a little ways hoping to find maybe this cemetery. Instead we found dogs barking nearby and a nosy redneck shining his spotlight on us. Talk about a jerk here it is 3 in the morning and were on some service road not even close to his home. We left and called it a night but I hope to do further research to find the Paolo Historic Cemetery so we can bring you a story on it.

All in all it was a fun night the cemeteries caught me off guard I mean it was one cemetery after another. So even though they were separate cemeteries since they all bordered each other it was like one big gravestone fest. Each cemetery rather had their own level of activity. But since they are so close its hard to say that a certain ghost haunts this or that cemetery.  That is why the cemeteries are not listed because they really do not exist on any roads but rather just behind many other cemeteries in the area.

We will return to these places eventually for more photos and investigating. I did come out with some photos from every area though I focused more on quality rather then quantity with the photos last night. Peace
Rick
