Pinewood Cemetery

Finding this place is harder then you would think as it sits very high up so anyone could drive past it and not realize its there unless you look up as its surrounded by a wall. The big rod iron gates alone and tilted stones all over inside are enough to make anybody turn back.  This cemetery is perhaps the most European or gothic revival type of cemetery I have visited since I been to Florida.  We made our way to the cemetery and worked our way up this steep bank that was a lot of fun to climb my shoes were filling with sand:) and I was not even in the cemetery yet so in a way we not only were ghost busting but also climbing on all fours. But I made my way into this eerie place eventually but slowly.

There were lots of crypts, vaults, odd shaped stones some I have never seen before, and upon walking it it was obvious the cemetery was in very poor condition. The grass was very high and right away I was stabbed by some sand spurs upon climbing down some of the walls. I do not think I ever seen a cemetery such as this the hills here were taller then the buildings in downtown Daytona Beach kind of like terraces with stones on each one.

Also the entire cemetery felt like I was in a castle. Coquina stone walls and stairs were all over the cemetery leading to different crypts and family plots. There were even a few plots surrounded by bent rod iron fencing. So definitely I was perhaps more pleased with my surroundings then at first the Hauntings.

I walked by myself as Tammy kept guard watch and took off for a while down a dark road lined with walls. Talk about being followed something was following me through the entire cemetery keeping its distance. You could hear it, sense it and just about feel it every time out of the corner of my eye. But still due to all the paranormal tours here it seems like the activity is much more minimal here then some secluded place.

I spent a lot of time walking around looking at different stones eventually walking up a stairwell and up to a giant stone cross. The cold sports at this point started to become very patchy perhaps it was the different elevations. But I walked to the highest point of the cemetery and on my way up to the top there were so many stones broke or just laying on the ground.

I took a few photos then visited with Tammy for a while then went back around the cemetery for round two. I visited two giant crypts one of them the door way was bricked off like at one time it was broken into. Then I bent down to pick out some sand spurs out of my laces and socks. I felt like something was standing there next to me and something moved in a darker part of the cemetery you could hear it.

I spent sometime exploring here and eventually we left and there will be another part to this investigation eventually as being that its so close to downtown its going to take a lot of work to capture evidence of the Hauntings which many say there are many ghost stories here. Anyhow after getting out of the cemetery we slid down this giant sand hill it was loads of fun sorry no photos it was just a spur of the moment thing lol when the ledge gave away and I went tumbling down:) but we had loads of fun and there is something in this cemetery no doubt in my mind but whatever it is lurks just beyond the darkness.

In conclusion to tonight's report we had an extremely productive night and these places were all major investigations. A couple places were actually request from a couple members when I first moved here. But I am sure we captured a lot of nice photos and I most likely will return to Woodland Cemetery, The Freemanville Settlement, Dunlawton Plantation & Sugar Mill Gardens, The Gamble Place and of course Pinewood Cemetery two to three times in the future.

It was a real nice night not cold out, lots of stars visible, and no hassles with rednecks being nosy lol. As a matter of fact their really was nobody out last night even on the roads so it turned out real well for Tammy's first investigation with the organization. Of course we did not run into any tales of a Big Cat roaming the Gamble place or Sasquatch but we had a lot of cold spots go past us, movement, footsteps, ectoplasm, unexplainable noises and a lot of fun throughout the night in the mix of all the different places.

We had a lot of fun as I played on the dinosaurs then by the end of the night I was in some cemetery just watching bikers partying near Pinewood Cemetery right in the heart of Daytona Beach. I sincerely wish that others showed I find that each time we visit a haunted location it changes time to time perhaps some places change so much you can no longer investigate them such as the Gamble Place. So many really  missed a good adventure and we did pretty good for it just being Tammy and I. But every time nobody shows something big always happens like on tonight's trip.  I could not have done these places without Tammy's help so lots of thank U's over and over. Although she is still camera shy so next investigation Ill be working on breaking her in lol. I cannot wait till everybody reads the history on these places you will enjoy it when the updates are complete trust me it will be worth the wait!

Peace,
Rick
