If I composed my explorations of the area it would Talley well over 14 of them so Ill try to sum it all up on this page. The first day I was in California I actually visited this location. I wanted to see what a Californian lake was all about in the mountains. I did not camp here till a week of hotels and trust me it was cold camping here in March.

I spent two weeks at this location almost taking the kids to school, having Easter Dinner at a picnic bench, getting up freezing my ass off, and sitting alone by the fire. I chose this location at the top of a hill over looking the lake so I could enjoy the moon reflecting off the water while toking up.

It was a depressing time in my life really my friends would never call me.....I had a few friends really let me down....  all at the same time I was kicked out for not even doing anything wrong. I vowed to add this to my site so others could hear my review and story. Believe or not whether 100,000 read it or just a few thousands people will at least know the truth.

I did two major hikes here the first one was on the east side of the lake which we found a water pump way up on one of the hill sides and a private shale beach. You do not realize how large this place is till you actually hike on in and find out that gulches and inlets are every few hundred years. The lake is like an octopus with many many tentacles that you have to work your way around.

I noticed the brush here was very thick along the lake if you stayed on the stones you are fine but once you stray its nearly impossible to get through this shit. My son and I found a hidden area in the woods where one of the long arms curved around to a swampy here. We also found a water trough perhaps for horses its hard to tell.

There are many small rolling hills with large trees and meadows. I went off the trails a little to explore. It was getting really hot and we had no water at the time so we ended up hiking back in. My son met a little girl she followed us back to camp and my other two took off with her bike she was like screaming. The little girl kept talking about her sister so I figured hey hey I might get lucky at this camp ground meet some girls older sister and the girl is like she is two years older I was like OH.

One night I was hiking and two hot chicks were waving at me I guess they realized how boring this place is unless you fish. The same people fish out of this lake day in day out. I seen the same Mexican guys fishing everyday here sometimes you could see people not following the rules but people who do not follow rules are not subjected by the staff because they are regulars so alot of favoritism happening within the place. It cost you money to get in to fish but then it cost money to buy a fish ticket and then everything else is just extra.

Being homeless was the hardest thing having to live here but it was also an experience we ate fish fairly often trout is wonderful. One night my ex caught a trout that was easily 26 inches I cooked it everybody went to bed and I swear I was eating so much trout I was done with fish for awhile after that lol. My kids learned alot here all of them caught fish we even met a local who told us a few secrets on what the trout go for and it works like magic.

I ended up buying a fishing license right here to bad I only used it once what a waste but they threw me out so I pretty much wasted my money because after that I ended up going to Indian Grinding Rock which has no fishing but there is more history and freedom there.

I remember some city folks camped near me and these people treated the campout like it was a hotel they had their generators running all night which is against park rules. They had gas grills.....this and that I could never understand campers like that.

I do remember my third visit camping here I stayed for about a week.....I had a kitten with me it was Sneezers and Cutie Pies. Well a big gray cat went into our tent it was a mean one.....sneezer chased it out....and literally almost killed this cat. I was looking for sneezer and found him fighting underneath this cat. When I chased the gray cat away sneezer had blood all over him but it was not his own it was the other cats. The next morning gray fur was all over hence another reason why I call Sneezer a lion because he took on a cat three times his size.

Aside from that I was visited by the rangers two days straight and well I was thrown out despite being a regular camper. I did not really get any warning it was pack your shit your out tomorrow. I did not do anything wrong just that people tattle tale....and assume things and that's what happened.  I got into trouble because a guest of mine parked over in the driveway of the empty camp spot next to me, because my son threw a temper tantrum, and because someone gave me firewood. I never in my life seen such rude treatment after spending so much money on fishing and camping here.  Now I can put this on the site and pretty much take away their future customers even more so the rangers are pricks here. They treat this place like its some national forest and really its just a campground that gets its grass mowed weekly.  Some people live such a simple life in this area that the threat of outsiders deathly scares them.

My little one a day before we were kicked out went on an expedition in search of a cave in the area. We never found it but we hiked along an area full of steep hills, rock formations, hidden beaches, crystal clear water with giant fish swimming by, and even a creek. The meadows were amazing my son jumped over one of the creeks caught him jumping in midair. Its just a real scenic location that is the one thing I wont punish but when it comes to people they are the ones ruining this place for guys like me who just want to hike and have a good time.

But the photos are very beautiful and the view is wonderful as you come around one of the hills into a valley where the lake sits. There are other dams and bridges in the area but a few miles away. I never managed to reach them but we did hike to alot of areas many people do not get to. I found an area with a dead chip monk a little cliff also. Never found the cave but I did find a stone area you could climb into for shelter that was pretty cool.

As far as the campground goes well be my guest if you want to pay out a ton for firewood, coffee and snacks. Then you have to deal with a staff who smiles at your face but tells the rangers to kick you out for them without actually even addressing you first to find out what the deal is. Not only that but the lake levels are lowering and in a few years their will not be much water left.  Peace

Lord Rick
