Old Astor Covered Bridge

Originally we were supposed to investigate the old pioneer settlement which is near this covered bridge however upon driving up at the front entrance we had a run in with a guard dog. Since I did not feel like having a piece of my ass chewed off I only was able to investigate a covered bridge and house boat which is part of the settlement but not quite. So I do feel bad were not able to investigate the settlement since it had many historical buildings but in a way the old Astor Bridge perhaps has a story of its own.

Amanda parked near the covered bridge and I went out looking for the dog. He seemed to be pacing back and forth at the front entrance but would not come near the covered bridge so I walked up and down the road a few times taking photos. I could not help a strange eerie feeling coming from the boat house. Felt as if something was watching me over time it became very uncomfortable.

A few times I drooled looking only 100 feet away from ghostly paradise as a old bell and other buildings were within my grasp along with a energetic German shepherd dog. But he did not seem to be bothered by me photographing the bridge or walking up and down the road.

I did notice alot of noises coming from the woods opposite of where the house boat and boat house were. It sounded like something was walking right along with me back an forth. I was going to go up into the house boat but then thought the dog would come on around and probably keep me up there all night so I will save it for when I bring some hotdogs next time lol.

There was not alot of activity here a few patchy cold spots feelings of not being alone maybe more so a gloomy feeling just with any tragic or historical landmark. But it was interesting just to investigate just my second covered bridge. We then jumped on into the car searching for two more places the first one was Lungren Cemetery which was totally impossible to find since for one its very small and two the area its supposed to be has nothing but brush and trees. So perhaps this pioneer cemetery is very hidden but as dark as it was out there tonight all we could see is miles of woods.

We then could not find the cemetery and decided to visit the old Astor Bridge now keep in mind this is not the boat house or covered bridge part this is the actually metal bridge itself. Well to our surprise we could not find it so its possible this was also moved to the pioneer village or somewhere else. But none the less I still enjoyed my little visit over the St. Johns River.  Plus Amanda showed me a few nice restaurants hint hint ladies lol:) Anyways after not being able to find the metal bridge or the cemetery I had a bigger and one of the most spooky cemeteries in the area for us to visit called Purdom Cemetery.
