  Noonday & The Anaconda Mill
 
During the day the road out here seems allot less lengthy then when I was out here Nov. 13th of 2009. The last time I was out here I had taken a group of people to find old Tecopa and some of the mines in the area. Its amazing how during the day one could see the mines even from miles away.
 
This would be the first time exploring Noonday of course months ago we passed right by it and I just didn't have the right people with me to explore.
 
Not much remained of this town in the background a few miles away you could see the Gunsight, War Eagle and Columbia Mines. Those are some of the largest mines in southern Ca all abandoned. Of course it was getting later in the day so I had to decide which dirt road I would take that would get us in a decent mine exploration before dusk.
 
The town had two noticeable things about it one was the vault which is still standing or at least it looks like one. The other is the Anaconda Mill which sat from the town a mile away just over a hill nearby.
 
Tammy and I split up here as their were foundations on both sides of the road. I could actually say their had to be roughly 20 foundations I found just wandering out into the desert. I spent sometime searching around and found the most obvious which was hundreds of rusted metal tin cans. The ghost town was in deplorable shape making me wonder how it became in such bad shape.
 
Off in the distance miles away I could see the Talc Mine just this mountain of white powder. It is rather interesting because we were in a very large valley with mountains surrounding us. The photos we captured are really majestic compared to the remnants of the town.
 
I took the car up the road and we visited the Anaconda Mill which was collapsed. The mill had concrete, aluminum and wood scattered all over the place. The rusted water tank still sat above the mill and some of the old pipes.  There was this concrete structure which had a hallway that ran through.
 
I stood on top of the mill briefly over another part of the mill which had this odd structure.....keep in mind half of the cliff collapsed on top of it. So most of it was buried under rock and dirt. I climbed up the side of this wall and there was a platform made of concrete. I got real close to the edge had Tammy take my photo below. It was pretty cool standing up here I could see the ghost towns...mines...mountains like I said though I could talk it or show you guys the photos. The photos from this mill will be up on our site in a few weeks.
 
It is hard to believe that last year ago I stood 20 feet from the mill site and didn't even know it was there. You see last year ago nobody would hike with me and we parked over at Old Tecopa. I hiked up to the mill site but at night you cannot see it. It gets very very dark out here their are no city lights all that you have is the stars and moon illuminating the way.
 
I stood 20 feet from the site drinking a glass of champagne and probably would have found it but the last crew who I took out here  was packing up their food and blankets so I didn't explore any further. It just goes to show you that you could be standing in front of a ghost town and not even know it. Even during the day its very hard to see the foundations because the desert actually has allot of foliage...rolling hills....and rocks. Its very deceptive I will say that.
 
In light of things the Mill was allot of fun to photograph of course a decade ago the entire mill once was standing so you could see how the elements were consuming this place. Tammy and I then would focus a little bit on Old Tecopa which is again a site we set up camp at last year ago and the individuals did not want to explore or spend enough time here to find remains of the town.
