The Haile Plantation

Before we were going to investigate the plantation I had an abandoned school I wanted to check out. I love school houses especially when you go into one and still see the old desk in the rooms. Not in this case we spent 2 hours looking and well it soured the night a little cause 2 more hours of driving killed me with the long drive on top of it to get their.

We could not find the school we spent those 2 hours driving around the college looking. I have to say its a different culture in this city with thousands of college girls walking the streets we really did not care much about the school haha. Their was girls making out with girls, ones shouting, one girls skirt was flying up man I was in PGS heaven haha. But seeing some sexy shoes gave me enough motivation to move onto the Hail Plantation.

Our probably was that in Gainesville all the streets go by numbers for example you NW 4th St. NE 4th Street, 4th Blvd, 4th Ave etc its like a rat maze Andrew almost convinced me to park the car go to this bar have a few beers and pick up some broads. He had me thinking hard about this lol but I did not get swayed to the dark side just yet lol. A guy out in front of me at the intersection made a left turn and was stopped by the cops so it was clear a lot of drunk drivers were out and about.

The Haile Plantation was a very hard find this place is not by the road their is not even an address in front of the property. Its just a small inlet by the road with some power lines. You have to hike further back in the woods to get to it that which we did. It was fairly dark and I looked hard squinting with my eyes only to see a large white structure overgrown by many trees.

It was the old plantation house of course its restored so we had no plans of going inside. But you bet your ass I took my time looking in some of the windows and around. The house is so large I mean this place is a mansion giant long porch in the front then a few others on the back side. Lots of extensions onto the home as well so we were pretty excited to visit this place it gave us some hope.

Their also was a lot of distinct cold spots and off to the woods I seen a fireplace and foundation probably the site of an old slave cabin. Then we found another area with a giant pit in the ground I thought damn we fall in their were screwed cause I left the rope at home. Lucky I didn't climb the fence to check out more of this pit I thought about it.

Andrew told me his Mountain Dew and Corn nuts were catching up with him so he went into the outhouse Jason and I left him in the dark we took off hiking. The birding trail dead ended in someone back yard not cool. But it appears their may be one more trail in the area but we did not find it I did not use a lot of light for this one I wanted the whole eerie effect.

Their was another sign we seen back by the woods that said barns mostly everything is gone but the plantation house does remain and that was where I took most of my photos and that is where I felt a presence of was from the inside looking out. Like I said when you start to see the photos from such places you can only imagine how eerie a place like this is at night ghost activity or not its the fact were out in the woods investigating a place where slaves died.

I heard what sounded like human movement in the woods it was obvious something was walking around maybe an animal but Ill keep my options open. We got back to the car and prepared to meet our third place called The Devil's Millhopper.
