Gold Butte & Gold Butte Mine

As you read in the Whitney Pockets report we were just leaving the area the sun was going down and the deeper we went into the Gold Butte region the more I started to second guess if my vehicle could handle the road. Their were many sharp rocks which were scattered throughout the road at some areas more then others. The region does not get much rain so the road was beyond bone dry which had ripples in it that would cause the car to violently shake. The hills were rolling some of them went along some steep edges pretty typical when you work your way up and around many of the mountains in this region.

I seen some more wild cattle going down a hill as we were pulling into the ghost town.  Then we followed allot of old fencing along this road that led us right into the town. It appeared that the town site had been divided into plots of land as some areas had barbed wire fencing while others had old wood post that sectioned off certain parts of the town. You could see parts of the town that were well plotted but also driving through it debris just rusting away perhaps remnants of what was left of the town.

When I arrived in the town I tried to drive up deep into it we had to stop as we encountered some large rocks and were near one of the old mines. Their was an old water tank outside and some rusted bed springs very typical to see in this region of town. When we arrived here the sun was down and the moon was already out. We could see city lights at least 50 miles away in a valley. I believe this was Mesquite Nevada and if we were to take the old wagon road it probably would have taken us there however the bypass in Gold Butte is treacherous so we did not take this way to get out of here or to here.

Tammy and I would hike down this road which led us into the Gold Butte Mountain range. The mountains in back of the town would hold a mine for us to do some of our paranormal work at. The moon was out so we really did not need much light to hike. On all sides of us we had hills and allot of debris. We were finding things like tin cans, bed springs, troughs, old stoves and fridges rusted out. I would not stray to often away from the old road within the town as rattle snakes are very abundant here in Gold Butte and could hide in any bush or under any rock.

Tammy and I took this road as it went up hill and eventually ended at a large mountain. At the bottom of the mountain was a mine with a wood frame built around its exterior. I had to check for snakes at the entrance prior to us entering. Sadly my glasses broke I could not see this was bad not just for going into a mine but trying to get out of here. I know allot of people hate on me but I am committed to my work so either way the investigation continued on even if it meant myself being at risk.

This mine was a straight tunnel for hundreds of feet pretty good stuff if your into small dark tunnels. The first couple hundred feet had dozens if not hundreds of harvester spiders climbing up and down the walls mating with one another. This bird we came across was also startled almost flying into my face multiple times as I was ducking avoiding getting a beak to my eye. Instead of him leaving the mine he just continued to go deeper in where we would run into him throughout our exploration.

Tammy and I found a pile of rocks where they almost blocked further exploration into the mine itself. The deeper in we went the more damp the mine would become. When we made it to what looked like a dead end I found a small hole which led to another tunnel. The tunnel appeared to have an inch or two of water. Normally I would go through it but at this point I did not feel like getting my feet wet so early in the night. I am not sure how much further Gold Butte mine would go but our work was done here as we want to include the mine with the town site sits it sat within the town itself.

Tammy and I spent sometime searching for another mine more then likely you cannot enter it but its a Uranium mine I believe. It is no wonder the town did not settle for to long who would want to live near radioactivity. Everybody thinks that Gold Butte is only gold but this area has some of the oddest looking minerals known to mankind and some of them I would not touch considering they glow lol.

Tammy and I hiked about a mile back to our car where we would spend sometime offroading to various parts of the town. We had other mines listed we would try to find but with sun down here and rugged roads we would have to rough it hoping to discover places for our site. Getting out an exploring is one of the most rewarding things you can do as an investigator so we had no set plans.

We arrived back at the car and spent sometime slowly offroading near the Gold Butte Mountains. I will say the rolling hills up and down was fun but allot of the road has gashes in it to a degree where its possible to bottom out your vehicle if you did not go over them at the right angle. I had to be real careful as this was no normal city street but rather a ghost town with many rolling hills some very steep up and down. Tammy and I decided after things got to treacherous that we would make a 20 point turn on the narrow road and head to the main part of the town at the entrance. I was also searching for the cemetery and foundations.

At night places like these would prove 10 times more difficult to find as around each part of the town it would reveal remnants of what once was. I never knew a decade later that I would go from abandonment's all the way to mansions then here in the west visiting ghost towns. But even though this was a mining camp each location towards the front of the town was a plotted square section of land. The land then was surrounded by old wood post and gates. We found at least three to four plots of land some with troughs another one with a water tank. Everything near the main road seemed rusted and their was one post we found with water trickling up from the rocks. I believe we encountered one of the many springs which keep the land around Gold Butte green and lush. But anyhow this spring was surrounded by various corrals so it was obvious that at one time horses were used to travel the many rough roads found in the region.

Within the town I also found angel trumpets lol it was the discovery of a lifetime:) and they smelled so good. Tammy and I found this old truck near the lush flowers and I kicked it to make sure no snakes were hiding in it. I then jumped on board and put my hand around the steering wheel. It was one of those old flat bad trucks not even sure it had a cab but I tried to imagine what life would be like here a century ago. I am sure back in the day if a car were to get stuck you could just lift and move it. We went down a couple roads and found the cemetery only four graves appeared to be present surrounded by metal bars. The men appeared to be miners perhaps the two last men from what I learned who lived in Gold Butte fending for a life in the wilderness.

Tammy and I found this one area with concrete foundations and some large rusted object I could not identify. Their was allot of remnants in this area scattered such as wood, stoves, concrete and refrigerators. I found this one odd site with a tank and antenna. I am not sure if it was part of some radio tower or weather station but these steel cables held it in place.

After exploring what we could of the town I decided that we could explore a place that is even more secluded then the town site. I started to ascend and descend down this rocky road. At times it turned smooth but the rolling hills added to the excitement because each time I went up you could not see what was down and ahead of you. We went as far as we could passing two washes and the road was becoming a bit hostile. We encountered deep gashes along the sides of the road and sometimes running across it to a degree where we almost bottomed out but not quite. I took the car as far as I could and turned her around in case we had to get out of here fast. I always prepare for anything but I am far from lazy I have no issue with parking and hiking in for miles sometimes. In this case we had a two mile hike which turned into a much bigger adventure for our us then expected.

When Tammy and I got out of the vehicle we did a safety check and found a large piece of the front drivers tire missing. The tire was low and we theorized that this happened on the highway when we saw a piece of debris fly out from the wheel well of the car. We never thought much of it except that we had hit some garbage but after seeing a 6 inch piece of tire missing we knew this was no tear caused by off roading. I could not believe that I offroaded for miles upon miles and we did not blow this tire. The rubber on a tire protects the internal tubing which is a shell for the air. Without a part of the treads and rubber we were at risk for blowing the tire or puncturing it. It crossed my mind that getting out of Gold Butte would be a task fit for a veteran and that is where my experience would come into play later during our investigation.

Tammy and I packed our backpacks then set off down a moonlit road with us following the mountains to our left and our right. We were climbing up a few hills and ended up at a location knowing as pudding rock. We were actually looking for a party spot which is a trailer just a few feet away from this rock that looks like a pile of pudding. Anyhow Tammy and I climbed the hill or rather ascended to our left down where our trail split up. We could get a good glimpse of the rusted trailer and rock formations which all appeared to be melted as the moon glistened on them.

Tammy and I actually took a break on the hill for a bit first sitting on the rocky trail no lights needed the moon gave the entire hillside a soft nightlight sort of glow. When we reached the trailer it was torn apart my guess is vandals but also years of elements. The back doors were ripped off hanging by threads....their was no windows....the wood was rotted on the flooring and rust covered the entire outside including its duel wheel wells. Tammy and I found nearby an old engine and even a shopping cart pretty weird. We were nestled up on a hill with a meadow and many pretty rock formations. We could have hiked along the Gold Butte Mountains which curved around creating this valley we were or hiked down into the valley searching for other mines. We had our mind set on finding a crystal mine and getting to see a mine still in service one of the only ones left in Gold Butte.

Tammy and I left pudding rock descending deeper down into the valley and of course the deeper we went the cooler it got. I believe that the cold spots here were not ghost but rather areas with perhaps underground springs or damp areas. As we went down the hill we intersected with the original path we should have taken which was okay due to the fact we visited the infamous trailer in Gold Butte with the numbers 136 written on it. As we hiked away from Pudding Rock I made a discovery which led me to believe that this area might be a UFO hotspot.

Near one of the peaks towards the west where Lake Mead is located near I seen a brilliant white object which kept getting brighter expanding in luminosity. Tammy missed it but the object and its light completely vanished with no explanation. I viewed the strange light for about 10 seconds which looked like an object near the top of one of the mountains that intensified then in a flash it was gone.. I felt that this was the strangest thing I had seen during our exploration and was sitting in the epicenter of 50 miles of wilderness all around us so anytime any odd lights would appear we had to remain vigilante considering the factor that we were in seclusion near no cities or roads.. The fun would not end here though as later in the night we did not experience the last of strange objects and lights. Later on this hike we would come across dancing lights and other unexplainable things.

Tammy and I made our way down the trail and it seemed like we entered to the lowest part of the valley as pudding rock began to fade in the night. We found a road to the right which led us around to another intersecting trail. The trails were extremely cold in some places and the tree cover was thick. We went from desert to forest fauna in a matter of minutes of hiking. I could not believe how many trails intersected with one another here. Tammy and I found this one road with a wood post and metal cable across it. This road had a sparkle about it and allot of pieces of quartz. I knew I was hiking down some old mining roads. I kneeled down grabbed a fist full of dirt and rock. When I dumped them back onto the road my entire hand sparkled in gold flakes. I have never experienced anything like it but the entire road was littered in gold dust tempting yes but rather it feels this is how its meant to be. Among the forest around us was many similar formations to pudding rock. Just giant mounds of rock formations and off beaten trails. By this time our lovely moon had disappeared and we were not left in the darkness with only our dim lights and some good intuition.

Tammy and I found this trail that led us to some piping totally unmarked with wood boards. While in another location we found a slab of concrete. Then on another trail crushed up granite and quartz. These were a bunch of old mining roads that is any 4 wheeler enthusiast dream back in here. All we could see is narrow roads of forest traveling to various mountains all around us as we spent hours searching for the mines. Strangely according to my maps right where their use to be a mining operation appeared to now be the site of rubble. I found another foundation at the end of this trail with steep drop offs deeper into the valley all around us. I bet this was a processing center for some of the local mines. Their was cinder blocks piled all over the place, piping and slabs of concrete all mixed in with desert debris. When I say desert debris I mean cactuses.....sand and dirt consuming this location.

I found it rather odd to find this foundation in the middle of nowhere but further research showed us that this area had a few gold mines. We found many signs of that mining such as piles of wood, pipes, slabs of concrete, rose quartz and even rusted bean cans. The miners ate the beans because they were high in protein.

We never did find the crystal mine just remnants from the operation nor did we find the treasure hawk either which is supposedly suppose to boast many buildings. Strangely their was a trail that we crossed early that led between the mountains more then likely that may have been the path to them. The valley we were in was full of lush life it was very easy to get lost even at times I felt like we were going in circles as we had a mile from us on both sides mountains.

When we found the foundation we decided it was time to head back and go to our next destination. We were only a couple hours away from the sun coming up. When I explored the fenced off area with the foundation we started to head on back down the trail and ascend slowly out of the valley. When I turned around behind us I seen an object just above the mountains with pulsating lights. The lights blended together with a red...then a dark blue.....to a green....then eventually an amber color. This object was brighter then anything I seen in the sky so I turned on the video cam started to film. Tammy felt it was a plane then later she thought it might be a star that was giving off various gases. Later we reviewed the footage to realize that the object was moving around in a circular motion and a dimmer star near it remained stationary which added to the mysteriousness to the UFO sighting.

As we hiked away from the object back to the car we were getting ready to film the object a second time. Only this time the object was much higher in the sky in a matter of minutes. Have any of you ever heard of motherships that pose as stars or give off a similar pattern to disguise themselves from discovery? I felt what we just witness was a mother ship as it started off 30 degrees above the horizon. Eventually those lights and this object faded. I wish I had all the answers but I do not our original film is stellar of course uploading it on youtube has lessened the quality and luminosity of the video.

As I was filming a second part to the video Tammy and I noticed a light a couple miles in front of us off in the desert. Now their are allot of dirt roads back in Gold Butte not sure what it is we were seeing. Tammy said it may have been a truck or 4wheeler she might have been right. However we cut our lights down to one light at times and started pointing them towards the ground so we would not give off our position.

I was in the middle of filming when we seen lights facing towards us they were yellow I only at times seen one light bouncing around. Strangely we never heard any engine running and the lights were very contained. I often wondered who would be out here at 4 am off roading unless your out here with another purpose. Alls I knew is I was prepared at anytime to hide among the various free standing rock formations which graced the trail if it came down to it.

The lights in front of us just as the lights behind us in the sky were fading and back at base camp I had a telescope that I could utilize if necessary. For some reason I could not get the telescope to focus on the object but now it looked like a star silent in the twilight. The beautiful colors were no longer visible and the object was gone. The headlights dancing in the desert those were gone to and luckily our car was safe. Tammy pulled out a blanket put it onto the trail while we gathered food....drink....set the scope up and decided to wait for the sun to come up before we would finish off the Gold Butte region.

We had allot of obstacles we would have to deal with at this point. The drivers side front tire was low. As you know from earlier in the report their was a 6 inch piece of the tire missing. The part that was missing was off the side of the wheel with the tear that ran along the treads leaving a good portion of the tube exposed to rocks and sharp objects. I was holding on to a miracle at this point allot was going through my head as I would have to focus offroading for over 40 miles avoiding rocks and anything that might puncture the tire. When we pulled down the road we did not see it but their was some small rocks buried under the sand which were not visible from the front of the vehicle. When I turned the car around I had left it as is so after hiking we just wanted to get out of here and head for home. Sadly Gold Butte sucked us in and we were stranded as one of the rocks buried in the sand became stuck under the drivers side lifting the car up causing the tires to spin.

Tammy ran out of the car crying thinking we blew the tire but this was not the case. We took a crow bar and began to dig up two rocks near the torn tire. We actually pried up two of the rocks they were easy to break apart to some sort of granite. After removing two rocks we still had the large rock which was holding up the car. I started beating the rock but this one was much harder and more compact so we only chipped a few small pieces of it away. I had Tammy gun it a few times gave it a good push the car wanted to go even sat on it a few times to give it more wait so the tires would catch. The sun was coming up and we were running out of ideas. Once the sun comes up the heat would intensify and it could be days before someone would find us here.

I cranked up the front of the car although it was almost bottomed out in the front I managed to get it lifted above the rock it sat on then I basically close lined the car moving it over a few inches. I then jacked it up a second time same thing this time putting a dent into the car it was either that or become a permanent resident of Gold Butte. This time I did it the car was free of the rock and I had Tammy cut it sharp to the right pulling away from the rock....and deep trench the front tire had dug itself into. At this point I was hurting their was a thorn bush that the tire was up against so when I jacked it up and was clearing out the rock I took on allot of thorns some went in so deep in my finger I had to cut them out with my knife. I have learned that the desert has some of the most freaking annoying plants worst then anywhere I ever journeyed into and some of those plants are straight up dangerous.

The danger was not over I would have to offroad through the entire ghost town onto the main dirt road which would take us for over 40 miles through various sectors of Gold Butte. I passed a few places near the town I wanted to stop at but we were pretty worn down. I will return to the area we have a camp out planned here in an area I think might be a UFO hotspot and some other sites we have taken interest in.

As we drove away from Gold Butte I could feel our stress levels calm down and we even seen some wild cattle. I found a bull took a video from the window of him watching us. We had to take the dirt road very slow as their were rocks and at times it got pretty rugged. We slowly made our way back up to the CCC Dam site and eventually along the Virgin River. We were doing it we were making our way out of the Grand Canyon on a miracle.

Some guys passed us in a pick up truck offroading like us as they gave me some dirty looks I guess their isn't to many guys with black nails and vulgar beanies roaming the desert but at least I know nobody was going to mess with us even if we did get stuck then again I might scare off any of the help that came lol.

As I pulled onto the pavement and to the expressway their was a huge feeling of relief we were back in civilization. I had stopped at a gas station and put some fix a flat into the tire since the air pressure pump was busted. I could not believe how low the tire was and despite how much it heated up it did not blow. When we arrived home we were able to drive it Monday to a tire shop and they gave us a sweet deal on a replacement and rimmed it. I have nothing but respect for Mexican tire dealers in Vegas they have saved my ass so many times when I didn't have the money or needed an emergency tire.

I have to say that our adventure here was amazing it is easy to get discouraged when you run into obstacles an easier to quit then it is to push on. But we will return to this location I thought it was a pretty awesome investigation. I heard something up near the mines and thought during our hike in the ghost town I heard a mans voice. What I thought was odd is that we never seen much wildlife here or even heard much of anything. I expected to hear coyotes.....see allot of eyes watching us etc other then a few bats and a set of eyes watching us from Gold Butte mine the area seemed rather desolate.

I know so many of you have seen the Grand Canyon but this is a part of it that so few ever get to see perhaps because of its accessibility issues.  Its one of these locations that offers so much for those daring enough to explore. I wondered to myself if the cattle here turn up mutilated like other parts of the west which are said to be victims of alien experiments. It is an area anything can happen at anytime with thousands of sites you can just pull off at and explore. What was it we encountered in the sky September 19th at 4am was it something from another world?

I do believe that when you do good things those things come back onto you and for our organization to bring you guys a story from this place for us is a step further towards its preservation. One of the most famous petroglyph rocks comes from the Gold Butte region. It is so well known that their are replicas in some museums of the ancient panel itself.  Not only was this region home to a civilization that one day just vanished without a trace but it also is home to some of the oddest minerals in the world. Not to mention the fact that I can say I walked the golden road and for an explorer that in a way was my little slice of heaven. We were thankful that we had plenty of food and water making it home okay despite the tire incident and the car over heating up at the CCC Dam site we made it back okay with a few bumps and bruises.

I do apologize for my lack of sends on my paranormal group and the late report. I spent allot of time this week reviewing the UFO footage and taking a time out to spend with Tammy since she is on vacation right now. I guess after an adventure like this one could say they had their fair share of adventure to last them for awhile and now its back to the drawing board as we definitely will plan another exciting trip up here to some other strange sites.

Allot of the locations in this place have not been revealed publicly we will be one of the first sites to actually share them with the world. Not saying others have not explored the region but their is so very few sites that have good information on this place. I guess like most of the Grand Canyon much remains to be seen and waits to be discovered here. What will our next trip reveal to us as we spend the night up here searching for an answer. Further below is Tammy's report she is going to start doing reports on our trips as well which will allow our viewers to read a second opinion or a different face to our explorations. I am convinced that Gold Butte is not only a hidden gem but also a very strange location full of strange sites and locations.

On a good note the wonderful thing is we made it out safely and we got what we came for here. I was a little disappointed in the amount of no shows and lack of efforts by other Las Vegas members and interested parties. I do not think there are many true paranormal investigators left but rather people who are fascinated with TV shows who think that what we do is all fun and games. But truly our main mission is to bring our viewers the truth and it never is pretty. The paranormal takes allot of commitment, dedication and sacrifice. Allot of people missed out and some of you someday might visit this place when it eventually becomes a tourist attraction or national park but right now we can say that we were here before this ever will happen which makes it all the more special.

Gold Butte

As it was starting to get dark we decided that we needed to get to the old ghost town of Gold Butte which was another 13 miles down a dirt road.  We made our way there passing many beautiful rock formations and areas for camping, however we did not see another human being out in this area.  We did however see some cattle roaming wild as this is a free range zone.  Upon our arrival at Gold Butte we loaded our gear up into our backpacks and began the exploration of the ghost town remains.

There was not remaining of this ghost town, however it was clear that this was once a thriving community.  We found old vehicles, foundations, a cemetery with four graves and some old appliances that were obviously used before the introduction of natural gas or electricity.  One of the stoves we found actually had an area to put the wood to cook with.   Of course there were also signs that we had not been the only humans in the area recently as there was trash on the ground from recent expeditions.  It always infuriates me that people do not take the time to clean up after themselves.  I was brought up to cherish nature, animals, plants and especially the historical areas of this planet.

We then decided to hike up to the old Gold Butte Mine.  We arrived at the mine and found that there was quartz located in big piles right outside the front.  All of the quartz found had gold flakes located through out it and it sparkled like stars.  It was quite beautiful.  The mine was very cool which totally helped after walking around in 100 degree weather.  We explored the inside of the mine which had water in it at the far end and we decided not to transverse into the water because we were unsure where exactly it was coming from and did not want to be stuck in the mine too deep if something were to happen.  I did not think that the mine had any bad feeling associated with it, and was very relaxed inside ( with the exception of the hundreds of  harvest spiders that were within the first 50 feet of the entrance).  After we finished the investigation at the mine we decided to hike to our second location which was another mine, however after utilizing the coordinates we received we searched for quite some time and never found an entrance, although we did find plenty of evidence that there was once a mine in the area ( old mining tools, quartz piles and some old rusted cans).

When we arrived at the Radio Crystal mine location we were loading the gear when I noticed that the left front tire had some damage, actually there was a piece of tread missing from the sidewall, but the tire was not flat and appeared to be holding up well.  This is when Rick and myself realized that we could be in a whole lot of trouble being out in this area with no one around.  Knowing that there was nothing we could do at the moment we decided to go and check out the Radio Crystal mine and see how the tire was when we returned.

We then were on our way to the next location further up the road called Pudding Rock. Pudding Rock is thus called because it looks like someone took a spoonful of pudding and just splat it on the ground.  Near pudding rock we found an old abandoned trailer, it appeared to be a horse trailer, but on further inspection it had a sink inside and some other things that might indicate it was a residence as well.

We finished an EVP and picture session at the abandoned trailer deciding to hike further into the vast wilderness to find the Radio Crystal Mine.  We began our hike down a long dirt/gravel trail.  It was so peaceful and relaxing out there, no kids fighting, no one calling, and definitely no appointments.  Time was on our side and I totally enjoyed it.

While hiking along I turned around to see something and Rick shouted "what is that".  I quickly turned around and saw nothing.  He then told me he saw a brilliant light in the sky that suddenly appeared and disappeared.  I did not see it, but after being out with him on several trips I know he must of seen something, because he has never been so excited.  We continued down the dirt trail and came upon an oasis in the desert.  It was like walking into a forest.  The temperature took a drastic turn and I was nearly freezing out there. I am assuming because there was so much foliage that this area was just naturally cooler.

While searching for the mine we found several things of interest, such as a foundation big enough for a large building, and many indicators of a mining operation.  The foundation was very interesting because of the sheer size.  Whatever structure was on this foundation  had to be very large and to be out in the middle of nowhere Rick and myself assumed it was used for the mining operation that once was at this location.  The other interesting thing about this site was the fact that the ground just sparkled with the gold flakes.  Rick picked up a handful of the rocks located on the ground and when he dropped them his hands were covered in gold flakes.  We hiked down several trails and found it to be quite tranquil, however  unfortunately we did not locate the Radio Crystal Mine.  At this point we decided to head back to the car so that we could find two more mines located further up the road.  When we were on our way back to the car several mysterious things happened.

The first thing that happened was Rick saw in the sky just above the mountains a light that was very bright and seemed to be turning while, blue, green, and red.  He showed me and my first reaction was it was a plane, however it was not moving.  The lights were very bright and at that point I thought "oh, then it must be a light on the mountain to let the planes know where the top was".  However again I was incorrect as the light began to move up in the sky and away from the tip of mountain.  It remained in the sky but the flicker of the various colors began to fade and it was only a bright white light.  It remained in the sky at the location we last saw it for several hours.  I don't know if it was a star, a planet or something else, but it definitely was unusual.

It was approximately 4:30am when the next unusual thing appeared.  At first it seemed to be la light shining in the distance in our direction, we were uneasy about this because the wilderness is so vast and no one lives in this area.  We were unsure if this was a headlight, a flashlight or something else.  We stopped and watched the light turn and then it was no longer visible from our location we decided to continue walking back to the vehicle.  About 30 minutes later we again saw the light and this time knew it was headlights and they appeared to be coming towards the location we were at.  It was quite frightening at the moment because you never know what or who you might run into in the desolate area of the desert, especially this early in the morning and the moon vanished revealing only darkness.   We watched the light until it disappeared again and then began wondering who would be out at this time driving around in the desert, but then again we were there so who knows.

When we arrived back to the car we checked the tire and it appeared to be holding up well.. the question was would it get us out of this isolated area so that we could replace it with a new tire.    We decided to do some star watching at this time and put out a fluffy blanket and the telescope to watch the stars.  The sky was full of billions of stars and everyone was visible with the naked eye because the moon had gone down and there was no other light.  I have to say it was so nice out there, the temperature was just right, all you could hear was crickets and an occasional hoot from an owl.  No cell phones, no traffic, no noise what so ever!!!   I have always wanted to live in a place that could be as tranquil as this, however I was not prepared for what happened next.

We decided to pack up the car and make our way out of this area hopefully stopping at a couple of mines on out way out, but just after we pulled out of the area we heard a loud thud.  Rick immediately said "I think the tire just burst", and at that moment I felt like crying.  We got out of the car to see that it wasn't the tire, but we had a bigger problem.  When he was pulling out he did not see the large rock just in front of the driver's side and well the car was now on the top of the rock not moving.  We knew that the rocks there were pretty easy to break so we decided to try to break the rock, this worked with the exception of a small piece that was being compacted by the car.  Rick then said if we jacked up the car, he could push the car off the rock and get us free.  My first response was "Is this guy crazy.. push a 2000 pound vehicle..."  But I guess I should not doubt him because low and behold it worked.  We were free!!!

I know that many including Rick do not believe in God..but I was praying non stop that we could just get home safely without any more problems.  I was really worried about the tire on the drivers side because we had at least 40 miles to go before we would see another person.  We continued up the road in search of the road to the mines, however never found them and to be honest after the evening we had we were both so tired that I don't know if we even cared.  It was a glorious evening up until we got stuck.  I told Rick that we are gonna save up to purchase a vehicle that would be better suited for this type of excursion because I don't know if I can handle this type of issue again.  We were able to get out of area with Rick driving slowly to avoid any of the rocks puncturing the tire where it was weak.  I was never so happy to get out safely, especially since we recently rented a movie about people being stuck out in the wilderness in Australia.. it is pretty scary.

We made it home safely and replaced the tire.  I never will forget this evening, it was full of adventure and I  enjoyed almost  every minute.  I just wanted to say thanks to Rick for giving me an unforgettable evening, for teaching me how to remain calm even though, and for always keeping me safe.
