Freemanville Settlement

Trying to find this place is an easy miss as we drove past it a couple times and the reason is that it use to exist so what we were looking for actually was a ghost town or the town that no longer exist quite eerie when you think about.

We finally found our destination and parked within the park in front of a building which was well lit. There was a few other trucks parked there an in a nearby pond a few men with lights on there head. They were in a pond walking wading in the water maybe looking for catfish or gator hunting. Either way we were not going to ask.

We walked over the little bridge over the creek made of stone and came out to the main road. We found a plaque which went a little over the historical significance to the area and settlement. Right away I became annoyed because the church which is the last remaining remnant of the settlement was nowhere to be found.

I frantically was going to have an aneurysm. But Tammy and I found a dirt road which we took it was very dark unused. Instead of it leading us to the historical church it led us to someone's house which looked abandoned. However we did not investigate since out priorities were focused on finding the church and other paranormal activity related with this settlement.

We took the road back up to the main road and no address matched the church so sadly to say it was either removed or destroyed in the hurricanes perhaps. We then ventured back into the park taking a very dark eerie trail which eventually led to a walkway. There was a child's playground and yes I did go down the slide it was fun as it twisted around and around woooo.

We took the walkway and it led Tammy and I right on onto the Halifax River. There was a nice board walk so we decided to walk on it. It was real peaceful hearing the water splashing and looking all all the Daytona Beach pretty lights across the river. This perhaps was a little breather since the cemetery had a rotten smell the air here was clean and pleasant.

We walked pack found a little shelter with a picnic bench that area bothered me a little bit you could feel watched on in here. This area was unpleasant to me. We then walked up to the creek and bridge took some photos of the stone wall and it had a very European look to it as giant stones were laid out around the pond, creek and little bridges here.

We walked out to another little building hidden in the dark tree growth. We took some photos and I thought I seen a grave stone and it turned out to be a power box. But hey I was close both were gray in color. Then we headed back and to the main building on site which was built in place of the settlement and has a series of shops perhaps a little cafe facing the river side.

Tammy and I walked along the wooden boardwalk which surrounds the entire building. I even served some Coronas at the outside bar trust me you do not want to know. Then we took a break and headed back to the car. When we were getting into the car I heard something nearby move it could have been a small animal or maybe something else. But it sounded like a little rustling near by.

But again we visited another peaceful place there were a few spots that felt uneasy and a few cold spots not many though. I feel this area has potential and you will understand when you read our history about it in the future. It was a little interesting stop. We then headed on off to the Dunlawton Plantation & Botanical Gardens.
