Fort Mellon Park & Historic Sites

This is quite a big area so many significant sites are within the parks area such as the New Tribes Mission, Sanford Museum, Hotel Forrest Lake Site, The Site Of The Fort,  Sanford Heart Park, and the Henry Shelton Grove. We basically only investigated the Fort Mellon site but we did take a few photos on the way their and back.

We started off cutting across heart park it was pretty cold in one part of the park as we all got some chills near some pipes. We cut across eventually crossing the road along the Lake Monroe shore. The water was real dark and if anybody has been to this lake it is absolutely gigantic. I mean you can look across and see other cities and towns miles off in the distance.

We took a break an a scenic area and bench swing and that is when I felt activity picking up.  We walked along the shore taking our time looking for the original site of the settlement and fort Mellon site. We passed pylons of what was left of a historical wood pier, a plaque talking about the Forrest Hotel which is now the New Tribes Mission, and another plaque on the freed slave settlement along the lake. Eventually we found our plaque.

The fog over the water was rolling over the murky black lake. We were close to the edge so one fall in and pretty much we would be screwed because of the height of the wall it would be impossible to get back up. So we had to be careful but it was a real nice site. I focused alot on the monument which talked about a great battle where many men died at this site. You could feel alot of ghost here just watching and in my opinion they were much older advanced ghost. I could see some of them briefly in the flash moving all around us. A cute girl stopped to ask for directions while we were taking photos in this area besides the fact we seen Mr. Rogers walking his dog in the middle of the night. It was apparent this neighborhood was not very friendly.  Around the site of where the fort stood Aaron got some high EMF readings.

Eventually we crossed over near the new tribes mission and headed on back through a citrus grove and other types of fruits that were grown. Aaron took a tangerine and I picked one off the tree with my mouth lol. We passed the tribes mission you could feel alot of energy here the place is real eerie in some senses it just radiates more then the rest of the buildings in the area.

We then pasted by Heart Park which seems to be a hangout for trouble causers and along the park was the Museum and a Plaque which talked about the experimental gardens of Henry Shelton. It seemed the whole area was historical. Eventually we took a few streets and over passed where we parked. We were in a pretty rundown section of downtown lots of buildings with metal roofs on them, brick buildings with narrow alleys, and little wood houses. It was not exactly the most comfortable section downtown but we made it back to the car and we do have plans to work with the fort site a little more as it seems very active with energy and perhaps many different ghost. We eventually made our way on over to Restlawn Cemetery.
