150 years agoA midnight fire — More Incendiarism: Our city was awakened from its repose and the firemen were summonsed to their duty about 2 o’clock yesterday morning by an alarm of fire which had its origin in the burning of tow unoccupied houses in the northwestern part of this place. The fire was first discovered in the upper part of Mr. Small’s house, and it could have been confined to that building had it been possible to obtain water for the engines, but there was not water in the streams and no cisterns in that part of town.
