This is one of the most scenic locations in all of Nevada its absolutely a gorgeous place but also a ghost town that you have to work to get to. Conquering the Stillwater Mountains is no easy task but if you can delve into it then you will realize these are some very unique mountains which boast allot of nature, scenery and of course history.
Mountain Well was a ranching community part of a mining district for the silver boom town of La Plata. Other ghost towns we have done in the region were Dixie Valley, Wonder City, Hercules and Stillwater. Our viewers have loved those locations and your going to love this small ghost town nestled deep in the mountains high above the forty mile desert.
My first time visiting here I had a flat and the car fell of the jack ending up sinking in the sand. My second time here though we rocked it visiting the springs, multiple canyons, ruins and climbed from the Carson Sink up and over the Stillwater Mountains into Dixie Valley. There is allot of good jeeping film and ill take you guys there.
I wanted to get this out yesterday but I had to finish a few things before sharing and going public with it. Because I am a perfectionist lol but also because I care about these locations that I do research at. They mean something to me and feel lucky to share my work with all of you.
La Plata was small 200 residents, hotels, saloons, post office, courthouse and a mill. A very simple place that many pioneers gathered because of the springs up here including the riders on the pony express and overland stage route. But this is a journey that speaks wild west allot of cattle, pretty scenery, back country journeying and rich history.
Also with this website addition tonight I opened up a new portal on the website each portal holds 40 locations and trust me we have a few dozen almost and that is because my work has been going on for years and we never want to stop it because journeying is worthless if you cant share it with friends, family and your members. So in a sense all of you get to be a part of what we do here and in my book that is pretty awesome!

Our next addition on our site will be Middle Gate Station Ill announce it next week after Christmas. But I wanted to at least get a project I worked on added to the site. This is not a huge ghost town not like Bodie or Tonopah but it is a place that we should preserve since so very little is left. The Stillwater Mountains are pretty awesome and a part of Nevada so very few of you would ever get to see if it were not for explorers like myself who take a time out to bring you something like this.
I want to wish you a happy holidays I went to a party tonight actually won a prize in a raffle was amazed there were 300 people at the party. Its been a busy month for me between explorations, parties, holiday bustle etc. I am going to try to post a video I am working on as well its kind of like my virtual Christmas card lol in a sense!
I am having a nice ham dinner Monday with allot of nice homemade dishes, pies etc tomorrow we have a nice dinner out with the family then watch our holiday comedy then its wrapping time. Kind of scary no white Christmas here we hit 60s today its not right mountains have no snow hardly and well up here we need the snowfall so the rivers run, lakes do not go dry and forest stay lush so that they do not burn down. I live at 5 thousand feet and today was like spring in the middle of the mountains here.
Well my friends have a great holiday I hope you relish this addition on our site it was a fun journey. When I was driving up on cliffs in the Stillwater Range trying to climb it I played music, smoked my bud and we had an awesome picnic once we made it over. It was a good time believe me and I am far from done when it comes to journeying or the work were trying to do here.
Have a safe holiday I have peppermint vodka for my coffee, logs are ready for the fireplace and I am ready to do this lol. Anyhow I could write all night long but I am going to go chill so you got this update and another portal is open woohoo enjoy! Have a safe and very happy holiday my friends!
