I just wanted to let you know a few things about our website everyone. First and foremost the website we have has been around for almost 17 years. I am not a noob nor an amateur in the paranormal field. You see paranormal groups come and go within weeks to month all the time. While other groups stay together for years to build up there research just as I have done.
I went through a bit of a spat the past couple weeks. You see were opening up a news hub on our site and its done it works fully now. But before it was not working under my windows cpanel. So the past week we had to migrate the site to a new server which would allow the news site to run under optimal speed with no timeouts so that it is social media friendly for our viewers who might like or share or +1 our articles that we put out to the public.
The site was not really down perhaps some links were not working or pictures showing up due to this in case anyone was like what is going on with the website. Things take time so does good work and it was a huge headache to deal with because we have thousands of webpages, thousands of pictures, evps, history write ups etc. Its a daunting task and I cant keep track of it all nor am I superman lol.
But the migration is complete we now use linux panel which has features which allow us to provide a news site which will be in my next post so all of you can bookmark and sign on up. However, the linux cpanel does cause one minor issue all of you need to be aware of it just in case you go somewhere on our site and its a dead link or not found or some evp or picture is not showing up here is why.
You see when we had windows cpanel our site was NOT case sensitive but with linux it is. So some links or images may not work its not allow were talking maybe one or two things for every hundred pages but still. This is because at times when I program my site I type it in manually so if I did not type the link or image just as it is on the server for example lets say on the server I have a banner called PGSBanner well if I programmed it on a page manually that said pgsbanner it will show up as missing or wont show up at all because in linux it is case sensitive. The same goes with some webpages or links it may show up does not exist but see it does but I did not program it for case sensitivty.
I know its hard to understand so over time ill use a dead link checker to fix any of these small errors but it will take a few months to nab them all because the site is so huge. There is not to many errors luckily but after migration we caught a few and found out its because case sensitivity is a factor. Back when I had windows cpanel case sensitivity did not matter so I programmed at the time based on the name not lower or upper case letters so on occasion an image or button may not work until we can go in fix it manually in the future.
Do not get me wrong 90 percent of our site if not more does work and you have thousands of tidbits of research you can find within. We have allot of urban explorations, adventures, history write ups, EVP's, pictures, videos etc but if you find something that says not found, image not showing up, button or link not working you HAVE to let me know so I can fix it. Fixing these things takes me seconds trust me but if nobody says anything I cant do so. Since I just had the site migrated there will be a few bugs and they will only be remedied if I am aware of them.
As you can see as of last night I started adding to the site once again Mount Davidson is LIVE and it does fully work for our viewers. I like to keep the site always up and running because I have allot of schools in NV and out west who use our site as an educational platform for ghost towns and other historical references so it is important the work that we do here and not allot of folks realize that. Because nowadays people are stuck on there phones rather then really enjoying what we do by taking the time to sift through all the work we have done.
Another thing our site is best viewed on firefox or chrome but full screen otherwise without full screen the buttons are jumbled together or stacked. Its just how I programmed it to be. I use buttons for everything and I make every single button there are thousands of them on our site along with banners etc. Our site works best on PCs not phones sorry like I said almost 17 years old. But buttons categorize my cases section by section and they only align perfectly with those browsers and full screen. Because allot of times people do not use it then the buttons are all stacked, out of place etc yeah they are still there but not aligned.
I am an old school guy always will be I am not a paid web designer that is not my skill set. Nobody helps me with my site and we are understaffed have been for years. So at this time its me myself and I sorry. I do try to fix things make them better but I have a full plate so please understand this. Some things may not work simply because they no longer are around like google apps we use to use on our site one day bam no more so it is what it is but sometimes its a problem on the other end not ours.
The main purpose of our site is to boast our work so really that is all that matters is that we continue to add our photos, videos, evps, evidence, history etc etc to the site so all of you can check out what kind of projects we work on. There is no old nor new site its always been the same. But I would check your bookmarks because some of you have linked to us or certain parts of our site and with the new linux the link may not have changed but links are case sensitive and some folks might manually type something in our site then bookmark it but if that is the case it may not work now since we switched to linux. So you may have to go in and bookmark it again or maybe not depends.
Not trying to confuse anyone but we want to bring our viewers the best so this was for the best so that we can bring you news. I am a bit behind on my site because as most of you know I spent a summer of hell dealing with things. But we will start adding to the site once again weekly so yes its going to double in size and grow as if its not big enough already lol.
I just wanted to let others know also we do own our own forums through our site an example of one of them is http://paranormalghostsociety.org/ForbiddenUniverse/index.php state of the art. Our other ones are currently up but we are going to renovate them in a few months because they are outdated and some things no longer work so that is another goal of mine with the site. But Forbidden Universe is fully working if you want to register to join and post.
I bring our viewers the best of the best we want others to enjoy our site have fun with it learn new things and get involved. It cost me allot of money to do all of this that is why I get so mad when folks just do not even take the time to look at our work or participate. If they paid what I pay or ran a site as large as mine they would probably feel the same way I am sure.
So that is really all I wanted to cover this morning you should browse our site and bookmark the parts of it you go to most for example the investigation archives or maybe one of our forums we run or it might just be a case we did that you really adore or like who knows. We have banners where you can put them on your own sites or wherever then link it to us. I welcome anyone who can promote The Paranormal & Ghost Society and hope you do because I have taken allot of risk over the years to bring this to you guys from death threats, US government, hicks, monsters, ghosts and even deadly storms. The core of PGS is really our case files that is my resume which qualifies me to be on any TV paranormal reality series unfortunately because of how I look and the fact that I have a brain not some puppet nobody wants me they want someone who is willing to fake evidence and lie to there fans that I wont do.
Therefore our site is our core of who we are and what we do its better then TV because it comes from my heart but also soul. I am constantly trying to better our site get more people involved. Whether your just a viewer, fan or you just like our site that is fine. So for starters bookmark our website http://paranormalghostsociety.org it is not new we been around for a long long time links never changed. Only thing that changed this week is were on linux now which actually helps load our site faster too but again due to the case sensitivity a few banners or pictures may not show up and they will need to be manually reprogrammed by me so if you see that let me know same with an EVP or maybe a link not working because I programmed the link manually and it did not match a lowercase or uppercase letter. We wont know right now every small glitch its just going to take time so if you see it its not my fault its just due to the migration over to linux hope that makes sense.
With that being said we thank you for making our site one of your favorites. Everything on my site is custom made I make the banners, buttons, design it etc. So there is nothing fake about what we do because I like to put some creativity into what I do. Do not ask me to modernize my site that is the problem with these websites like for example google+ made a ton of changes months ago and the new platform is not efficient. Look at facebook all these changes they made are not for the better actually they are worst then the old facebook or google+. Programmers try to fix something not broken or sites modernize and the older platforms or design was easier or more efficient to use.
I wont change our style or how we do things why complicate things? Then people in other countries may not have the plugins in there browsers or be able to view the content if we did that. Therefore we never change always keep things old school and we still do well traffic wise. Last month hell every month we get more traffic then 90 percent of paranormal websites that is the truth. You guys know what to expect and things are simplified so you can have fun viewing the site. Sure modernizing things might be fancy or cool on mobile phones etc but then it would not be PGS anymore we would just be like every other platform. Now our forums, news site etc is modernized but that so it can work with social media so not everything is old school just our site in general but other platforms, spin offs, extra features etc are up to date.
With that being said browse away get on your PCs and really look into some of the things we have done over the years you might be amazed. If you have any questions I am always here for all of you.
