Last night probably was one of our largest
investigations in months. They were very important investigations as far
as supernatural locations go for the state of Florida. We also had two new
investigators for this trip Lucy and Charles.
This was a trip that was very well organized and planned out as I spent
weeks doing research on these places. So you can only imagine how exciting
it was just to visit the Crystal River Archaeological Site, Yulee Sugar
Mill, Stage Coach Ghosttown & Cemetery, and Finally the Wildwood Train
Graveyard.
We started off our evening by going to dinner at a Chinese Buffet. It is
one of the better places in the area as far as buffets go. I got some crab
legs so I was pretty excited to know that if something were to happen to
me I at least got to eat seafood lol. But it was a nice dinner and I would
like to thank Lucy & Charles for treating us.
Sometimes many of our members forget the important things like making new
friends and its just a nice opportunity to sit down have dinner with some
of my members. I think that what we do here is what you make of it and
those are the times you never forget.
We had a long night of driving but it was nice to get a break cause lately
I just been drained from a busy October. So I played navigator last night
and luckily we found ever place despite the little obstacles that got into
the way. So we had dinner then we head on out to the Gulf Coast of Florida
at the Crystal River Archaeological Site.
Crystal
River Archaeological Site
Our drive was long getting here lots of country roads along the Ocala
Forest. We were inching up on our location when the road was blocked off
and they had no detour. So we had to head almost 30 miles out of the way
to get there. But that is okay cause eventually we did find this hidden
jewel along the Crystal River.
We parked and as soon as we got out I heard a lot of movement in the
woods. I did feel watched as well as if what was here was curious. I
thought I heard children talking in the woods but the talking was
very jumbled and hard to understand.
We entered the gates and walked up a dirt road and it was very apparent
right away that many cold spots existed. It was a fairly warm night so the
cold spots in some areas were at least 10 to 15 degrees in difference.
At times I heard movement but more so I did not like the dog I heard
barking in the distance.
There was a few paths leading in different directions we visited mound J
which was fairly large and of course I climbed up on top of it. It
basically was a small steep hill leading about 10 feet in height. We then
moved through the woods and found a smaller mound hidden beyond some trees
known as Mound K. Of course keep in mind different mounds contained
different things as they were built
The area was getting pretty thick in foliage there was cold spots but also
movement at times. Probably critters but still I kept pretty alert as we
neared the giant temple mound labeled A. We climbed the temple mound which
is this steep stairwell reaching to the top. Its around fifty feet in
height but we managed to reach the top and wow what a view we had.
We were able to see the crystal river and bay from up here. I could see
houses out near the water and the entire archaeological site from up here.
Looking down over the edge you could see the trees canopying the area. I
heard a lot of movement below us whatever it was sounded much larger then
a small animal. I felt almost like something was looking up at us on top
of the mound. Its a old native American mound complex so there is going to
be a lot of unexplainable things.
We walked back down and I found a trap door which we stepped into and this
part went into a section of woods which is off limits. We only stepped in
though cause it was just a lot of thick woods and foliage.
We went back onto the path and took it to the right which led us to mounds
C through F. This was the ceremonial mound area. Basically it was a bunch
of rolling hills and mounds in this giant open area which we did climb
down one of the slopes.
While walking along the open area I heard a lot of movement and I looked
on over to see a giant armadillo on the run. I ended up chasing it lol but
it disappeared right in front of me which I thought was kind of odd.
Better luck next time I suppose. But it led me to a tree with a giant hole
and this is an area I felt fairly watched at. I felt like something was
inside of the tree.
We walked around the open area and you could tell that this was the site
of an Indian village I mean many of the trees were old but this clearing
was different then the other areas. This was an area they buried there
dead as many mounds were present.
We finally hit another temple mound which was much small but we walked up
on and eventually we visited the last burial mound. Basically what we
wanted to do was take photos at each of the mounds. Charles did some
filming with his camera hopefully he captured something here.
We did walk out at ease and there was some really heavy cold spot activity
to a point where even I was freezing despite how warm I dressed up last
night. I also noticed an odd scent while walking around like some kind of
berries or herb in the air.
We did make it back to the car when a truck pulled up they scooted real
quick when they seen me. I assume they probably were out to cause problems
then got scared off when they found others were back here.
We spent sometime at the car for awhile just walking around picking up
cold spots, noises, movement etc we all kind of went our own way. I could
have sworn hearing some voices out in these woods and it seemed like
whatever was out there was closing in on us from both ends of the woods. I
gathered a more curious feeling from what was here.
I know Lucy a few times heard some things back in here and Charles
described it as very eerie. I would say its a gloomy place I think some
nights it might be hotter in activity. I do not think its real active in
paranormal photography but there is a lot of little things going on as a Ghostbuster
I tend to question here. But a few times what I heard sounded like walking
then it would just stop dead.
We said our goodbyes then headed on off to the Historic Yulee Sugar Mill.
