Central
Florida Railroad
I was very lucky to have found this place and its very hidden from the
public eye since it sits in an area behind old mills, warehouses, and
factories. Hell this might have been the only time I ever seen an
industrial area in FL as big as the ones up north. I had to park and turn
around the road was narrow hit the back end of my truck into a bank Andrew
was like ummm Rick you may want to inspect your muffler on that one lol.
We started off investigating an old long red trail car it was pretty
interesting guess it was a dinner car. I climbed the stairs tried to look
inside. The one end of the trail car was odd it actually had no stairs or
door sort of curved off never seen a car like this before. I was worried
about a down pour as rain drops on occasion were coming down.
I like train cars it almost feels like your being watched from the windows
of them. Eventually we hiked down the tracks started investigating a
different old rail car and a few guys working at this railroad plant
pulled up. They seen us and they minded their own. This building looked
like an old freight station and their trucks had a railroad symbol on the
doors not sure if it was Conrail or CSX. The guys locked up the gates then
took on off to go home.
Its holiday break so all these factories appeared to be shut down. We
finished checking out the other red car and then this old caboose. I
noticed attached to the old freight building was a series of giant box
cars turned into offices for this company. These were not normal sized box
cars almost appeared to be taller and longer. You could still see the
giant cargo doors on them but they made a regular door and stairs leading
up into them. I just was so intrigued that they took a few of them to make
offices out of.
The tracks split off in a few sets here and one of them went right at this
service area. It seems this place might actually work on trail cars. There
also was a tanker car and a monstrous red engine. The red engine was not
as old and you could tell they use it.
Aside from that we started to enter into the train grave yard. We found a
bunch of old rail car wheels, a giant engine used in a freight trail, old
railroad switches, and a old unused engine. We climbed up into this beast
I took the controls and switched the train engine to on Andrew was
laughing he was like yeah watch it start up and we wont be able to stop it
from going down the tracks lol. But I knew it would not start the engine
was just a big rusty old shell.
We climbed down found another caboose same concept windows were missing
and it was very old. Its ashamed they no longer make cabooses like this or
trains. I actually cannot stand the new trains out so when I see something
like this I have a greater appreciation for it.
Then we found another caboose which we boarded talk about a cold blast of
wind their was a presence residing in here a very strong one. I
walked in there and it was a fridge and I felt a wind blow right threw me.
That was the highlight of my night just about.
We then walked out seen an old flat bed rail car and another CFR train
engine. At this point we covered a fairly good distance down the tracks.
What made it eerie is that we had factories on both sides of us we were
practically walking down a small corridor. We could not see much but high
grass, debris, old rail cars, barrels and anything you think you might
find behind industrial operations.
The area back here was old one building was abandoned then another area
was this mill which had a chute. I mean that is all we could see for over
a mile was factories some parts of the tracks lit from them. The thing was
is all of them were shut down so in some parts it was like walking threw a
ghost down with dark alleys off to our left and right. We also passed an
old lumber yard and mill. I am sure even the buildings are haunted.
Later on we found some other old passenger rail cars one of the stairs had
a wasp nest my hand came close to it then I looked under with my light
seen the wasp just sitting their in nocturnal rest. Andrew boarded one
rail car I went off on my own boarded another.
We really did not keep track of eachother and I walked threw the one car
to the end and he did the same. I looked threw the dusty glass and was
staring hard cause I thought I seen a ghost lol. It was Andrew standing a
few feet away staring hard at me. We both looked confused and of course he
does not carry any lights so that is probably why he was just as confused.
The dusty window with a blue tint was hard to see threw so to me Andrew
looked like a ghost lol I swung the door open and their he was we both
look like we just seen a ghost.
I just thought it was funny is all but it happens when you end up
separating and going off exploring. I sat down for a little bit and one of
the warehouses was all lit up cargo doors wide open and not a soul was
present. We could see pallets stacked and barrels of what looked like
toxic waste. Hell back here along the tracks the odors were really bad I
hope by breathing in the air I do not mutate into something like a Santa Claus
with giant wings or something lol.
We started our hike back to the truck after dealing with high grass, some
sand spurs we realized we went threw a lot of brush that had these
needles. I do not know what they are called but when fabric or skin
touches them they stick in you and they are annoying some actually can
hurt.
Our walk back to the truck was just as eerie. I did not hear anything
accept for a ghostly whistle earlier during the investigation. Other then
that on occasion I felt watched in general. Its a very spooky place and we
moved on to our next location Sorrento Cemetery with a few stops before of
course.
