Cedar Key Shell Mound

We arrived at the shell mound and the area reminded me of what I read about the Louisiana Bayous that is how it looks...swamps on each side of the road...wet lands.....as we went to a preserve. we were heading way out onto a peninsula into the gulf of Mexico full of canals...water inlets...wet lands etc.

We came up to this narrow dirt road the concrete ended there was a park to our right for visitors then off to the woods we went many twist and turns...draping trees....and a trail to the left which was a loop. We decided to take the mound trail which would take us around the mound on top of it...an empty clearing and a scenic view area.

We arrived and gathered the gear went down the trail. Shells were scattered all over signs of a mound and to our right the hill just seemed to be in tiers. One side of the mound was collapsed and you could see layers of shell it was really an organized archaeological mound from my observations.

We found a path which led to a clearing guessing the site of a Indian village or something maybe temple area I do not know but it looked very different from the rest of this area which was wooded.

I found a hidden path and I did climb to the top of the mound I stood on top and for me it was glory. Florida is one of the only states known for its large mounds some are very sophisticated and so it was nice but wet and slippery. Had to be careful not to get cut up and fall on my way down.

It was way to peaceful here no movement...no animals...no cold spots...no ghost...NOTHING its so different when I visit most mounds this is the case. I have a very strong connection with working with native American spirits I love them very much because they pose a much higher challenge to work with so it was really nice to visit this ancient site but most of the time its rather quiet these people were at peace and I am to on each investigation I ever partake in.

We came to a trail that split one went down to the water...while the other one went higher up to a bench...and what was left of a wood sign. Christy and I sat down on the bench the fog over the water was amazing it was very eerie and I thought I heard talking up on the mound do I know who knows but I know what I heard so that was my only paranormal happening here.

After this we found a side trail...it led to fishing pier which was being restored perhaps even rebuilt. I went over the rails and walked on it. Here I was standing out in the middle of the water no railings on the pier...it was shaking...boards were loose...big fish were swimming in the water...oh man it was pretty wicked especially with the fog surrounding me.

We took a long break talking away taking evp and then we finished the trail dropped off my spotlight.  We hiked again on the trail took a few more photos then left. We had a long ways to the main road it was more dismal then haunted but that is what I bring you guys is historical sites to so you can learn things and that is a great plus to being members here.

We left and would start our visit into Cedar Key...which we drove into before the mound cause we overshot our country route and of course it was more foggy then before.
