Atsion

The semi ghost town of Atsion is in the heart of the Wharton National Forest in the Pine Barrens. Not much remains but we did find a lot of cool little sites. The visitors center was not even open so I could not get trail maps I was upset in a way cause any sort of maps to the area helps I mean your dealing with 2000 square miles of unmarked dirt roads some which nobody has gone down in years that to me is scary lol.

Their was a mansion in Atsion, papermill ruins, a wood house, an old wagon and down the road some other sites. When I seen just the mansion I knew their had to be more here. Some of these sites I visited cause of the high amount of Jersey Devil sightings so you will not see ghost or devil evidence at them its the history and photos though I will be sharing which make it all worth while. This mansion was pretty eerie if you want to call it that I believe though it had some other purpose.

I started our off roading and took the guys to a cemetery in the ghost down deep in the woods their was an old pioneer church. The cemetery was the best part of Atsion all these old broken grave stones surrounded by woods. I am sure at night this place would make you crap yourself haha.

The guys and I went further up we found an old small wooden school house, hiked in the woods found an old chimney and foundation. We also found a mill with a lot of cat litter, tuna cans etc and what do you know out of a small hole a big big fat cat was giving us a mean look. I thought to myself that cat looks possessed and sure enough I think it was cause man that cat looked evil.

We could not stay here long it was not exactly legal to be back here but we did find a bunch of gin bottles, an out house, and a house as well back in the woods. I got us back in the truck and I showed the guys a little fun. I went about 70 mph hour down a dirt road I was able to do it because it had no pot holes, it was a maintained dirt road and wide. Oh man I was having a blast feeling them little bumps and the guys were laughing to.

After seeing nothing else in the woods we set off to look for the site of the old train station we found a pile of rubble in the woods. We also found a set of railroad tracks that ran through the woods I took photos this is not something you see all the time. Trees were growing in the middle of these tracks but these tracks ran through the Wharton Forest in the pine barrens they provided these furnaces and ghost towns with a way to import and export products. If the train were to die so would the towns.

We left Atsion and I took us in search of some old houses near another town I only seen one of them so I passed up the investigation and decided to take us into the heart of the pine Barrens no more games now it was time for advancement.
