When we often hear the word train tracks we think of fast moving trains carrying cars, animals, coal but what we do not think of is the history behind them, or who died on them. The Depew tracks between transit and central road seem to have more tragedy behind them then it does success. The tracks often have 2-6 trains a day on them most of them are later on at night. Some roaring past 2 cemeteries slowing down in Depew behind the steel plant which is downhill so it takes over a mile for them to stop. There are times the gates at the crossings do not go down. The town of Lancaster/Depew sometimes will hand out flyers or stop each car and warn them about the dangers of the tracks this happened to me one morning coming home from work.. The tracks I believe existed before the 1894 town of Depew was established. Many people used them for travel and many local companies such as the brass company back a century ago for shipping. There are 4 tracks that run through Depew but the most dangerous ones are the tracks crossing Penora. The tracks have a history of unknown tragedies such as suicides, odd deaths Ect Walking up the tracks you will notice most stakes are loose even the tracks at the crossing flex to much a accident waiting to happen. Walking up them you can see caution tape, flares, and blood stains of the past. Why have more deaths occurred on these tracks in the last year 2 years then any other tracks in the Buffalo area?. So lets say 2 a year occur for 100 years that's 200 deaths in just a 1-2 mile area. Further up the tracks a year ago a group of people were hit in there car by a train engine did the car stall or was something of a higher power at work. Back in the summer 2002 I hid behind a tree as a ghost sang on them. Is it the fact that there are bars in the area and many men walk these tracks at night and pass out or is it something supernatural we cannot grasp yet? Back many years ago Al Capone would hang out at the Penora ball room. An old tradition would be to mess someone up throw them on the tracks let the train take care of them! Why? Because their would be a lack of evidence so definitely the tracks are haunted by a variety of ghost. Even today when going out for a walk occasionally I see kids playing chicken on those tracks perhaps something is possessing these people or the residue is inflicting its victims. Recently I learned of another mysterious death on these tracks. Although I wish i could investigate these tracks more often honestly it is to dangerous however occasionally I keep track of the deaths that occur on them and the strange occurrences that other people write me about on them. .The trains horns you can hear all night only wondering who may be consumed next.
