There is an urban legend passed around Fernandina about a young teenage girl who was accused of practicing witchcraft in the 1600s and was questioned. The towns people did not believe her so they hung her. Not sure if the area was inhabited around this time however its a possibility since I have read stories of pirates visiting the area a few hundred years ago so perhaps the area was inhabited. 

There is a narrow path leading to a fallen oak tree and here grave. One of the only large oak trees we found was fallen and there was a giant stone which looked manmade along the path which fits the description. 

People that visit the area said the ground shakes and they hear loud booming noises. Some say they have heard her ask them to leave and let her rest in peace. Others have said that they have seen her and had dreams of her. It has been theorized that the drainage pipe under ground is what seems to be causing these booming noises cause it reverberates back when you tread hard enough over it.

I am not sure how true the story is but the area is full of many narrow path ways, bridges, hills, a creek, and a bridge leading to some island. I believe that the area is used by the Fernandina Beach High School and local groups as a place to study wildlife. There is some odd things in the woods like a giant circle where there is signs a fire pit was made. There is other debris found like a few giant stone slabs and things of that sort along the trails.

I do notice various cold spots and feeling watched. I do not think that such an incident happened here I do think a bunch of students perhaps made it up. However not to say the area is not haunted by other forces before it was an environmental study area. Its probably a place where alot of partying and kids hang out. I am sure there have been some occult practices back here as well that have taken place. There is an old trestle or bridge we found in the woods that is hidden quite well so another sign that the area is quite old. But its an eerie area as well like deep in the woods I found a bag of clothing hidden as if somebody had been living out here so just a few things for everybody to think about when they view the photos.
