The Gamble Place

We drove around and passed by the road leading to the Gamble Place. It was obvious the area was very wooded lots of ranches and not many houses or stores in the area. So we knew this place sat deep in the woods since there are stories of giant cats seen back here it had to.

We found a road right away you could feel this gloominess. I do not know how long we drove down this road but the further we went down it the narrower it became. There were many branches on the road and lots of pine trees on both sides of the road. As we took the road deeper in the woods there was many wood fences almost like we were driving through some ranches. Eventually we came to a loop in the road over a wooden bridge which stated a historical marker on the Gamble Place. We did not stop but rather kept on going for the curiosity started to get the best of us as the road twisted and turned.

We finally passed a dark house to our right there were signs that two residences resided back here as there were signs with last names with arrows pointing on the road. We eventually took the road till it dead ended at this small cottage and utility garage. I had my windows down and from the woods was this awful sound of some unknown creature. It sounded like a giant bird at times it would scream, whistle, weep, etc., and it was coming from the woods. I had Tammy leave the car running and we ran out to photograph the Sunpatch cottage till we heard a dog nearby barking.  We were in search of the witch's hut or rather the snow whites replica cottage.

We decided to get back into the car and head back down the road. There was a donkey looking over once of the fences he was also very disturbed making a lot of noises. I tried to take his photo and he started to walk away. Then a goat was making a lot of noise it sounded similar to the sounds we heard in the woods maybe there was some relation maybe not its hard to say. Maybe something was disturbing the donkey and goat. Then we drove farther down the road and this big wolf like dog with big teeth jumped on a fence nearby. He looked pretty hungry.

We ended up backtracking and came to a gate near the road with a dirt road leading somewhere in the heart of the woods. Tammy and I walked it and it was very very cold. I was freezing to death and right away I caught something in my flash it looked like a giant face coming right at us in the brief view of it.

We kept walking through the woods and I kept hearing these gnawing noises of some animal or maybe not. Eventually we came to a large clearing with a few trees around and I seen a picket green fence and gate. We arrived at the Gamble Place which is an old cracker house. It really had a cozy feeling more like a cottage or log cabin in the woods.

There was a lot of activity surrounding this house you will understand upon seeing the evidence. The house was wide open I did not enter it which I will save for my second trip possibly here. There were cracker barrels and basket chairs all over the porch. Walking around the house a few times I kept feeling something sitting in one of them chairs just watching us. Actually I know something was in one of those chairs its just one of my gifts but it really made me uncomfortable.

Eventually behind the house we found a trailhead one was a scenic trail while the other was a short trail in the woods.  The trails did not look to friendly so we wanted to save them for another time especially with that drooling dog we seen farther down the road. I then shined my spotlight in the clearing and very far off seen the Citrus Packing House. So we walked on up to it and took some photos. It was pretty dark in this area not to comfortable either.

After we visited the packing house we started heading back to the Gamble Place and a light which was next to the house went off it was one of those security lamps which will turn on and off every so often. So this time the house was pretty dark but we walked around to take some more photos and near by I found some shed.

I for some reason could not find the Witch's Hunt, Rock Gardens, Gazebo Or Black Forest Cottage its possible they sit deeper on the trails. So we decided to head on back. I could not believe the amount of activity here looking hard enough you could see the ectoplasm surrounding the entire house. The departed apparently seemed to stay right within the property of the house.

We started our long walk back to the car down the dirt road again hearing the same gnawing sounds. We did not run into any big cats here perhaps we are lucky we did not since this area is quite secluded. I then took some photos of the front side and reached my hand out to one of the entities I could feel it touch my hand. Eventually I felt it go behind me and Tammy felt it just standing there as well. For a while I worked with the ghost surrounding the sign to the Gamble Place. I wanted to bring you photos of an entity near the sign it just helps perhaps to show how haunted this place was so we did spent a lot of time at the main gates.

All in all the investigation of this place was the highlight of our night this is a very active paranormal place lots of strange noises in the woods, cold spots, footsteps, feelings of being watched, and even seeing the ectoplasm as clear as daylight in some areas. I believe there will be much more to see on a second trip. The only disappoint is not being able to find the other historical on sight buildings perhaps that will be our second adventure. We then headed off to our final grand finale the historical and oldest cemetery in Daytona Beach Pinewood Cemetery.
