The bay area is a region I have worked with a little in the past few years since I now have access to it being only a few hours away. Its an old area with an ancient mystery wall, tales of pirates, historical cemeteries, urban legends, historic sites, forts and even the unknown.

Personally I am not much of a city guy I spend allot of my current days looking for Bigfoot and other cryptids in the mountains or wilderness. If I am not doing that I am in some lonely ghost town down some 50 mile stretch of dirt road. I try to avoid people, traffic and noise at all cost because I need to be able to do my best work in peace. But at the same time there are so many sites in the bay area that do deserve for us to do a project at and share with the world.

Tammy and I had plans to meet up with her friend Leona for the Raiders game. Well I was not going to the game but I did want to make sure both women were safe. The bay area has its share of crime and I seen some of it first hand here so safety in numbers just like paranormal investigating unless your very experienced. This was also for me a mini vacation do a little fishing, traveling along the coast and maybe catch a few really great meals why not right?

There is something about packing up the vehicle and just traveling the road I love it feels like I am in some Supernatural episode or something lol. As most of you recall the last time I was up in this area we investigated the Columbarium, Alcatraz and Point Reyes. This time around I was more focused on doing some urban exploration more then anything. Other times I am more directed towards paranormal investigating. No less my goals are preservation but also to take our viewers on a journey.

The trip out to Oakland and San Francisco was indifferent believe me nothing went my way it really didn't which ill get into later in this report including the incident with a naked man and someone taking my cam. I came home with mixed thoughts whether to laugh or cry about everything seriously! Because I spend so much time doing research to make sure things go a certain way and this time around I kept hitting road blocks with EVERYTHING!

The one thing I cannot stand about this time of year is that it gets dark so early. I have to play beat the clock everytime and kind of rush to get what I need to do done. Not that I mind the night actually I love it but some of the locations that I do deserve daytime attention so that others can see what it is they are looking at in our films and photography.

I had allot planned on this trip such as the Sutro Baths & Cliff House, Fort Miley, Oakland's Mountain View Cemetery, Temple Sinai Cemetery, St. Mary's Cemetery, The Old 16th St Station, Purisima and alas a Haunted Island with at least three sites that are very extensive. I was only able to do half of the locations due to certain circumstances and had to cancel one of the expeditions due to an incident with my cam. I suppose there were some bloopers on the trip as well but you cant win them all the city throws you some wrenches.

But I do think this trip was strange not so much the paranormal or anything else. When I first pulled into San Fran I went the wrong way which took me around the backside of the city over the Golden Gate which in turn took an extra hour into our day. We did not leave till 9am so it was already becoming afternoon and we still had two locations to visit on the coastline.

When you visit the bay area it becomes so overwhelming there is expressways everywhere and sometimes traffic is backed up for miles. I have no respect for the double decker bridges these had to be built based on greed in an earthquake anyone driving the lower level of the bridge crossing the bay into San Fran will be crushed. I did not come in that way but the next day I went through it to go to Oakland.

I was amazed with how great the weather was here I left some snow and ice cold temps behind only to be driving down streets lined with palm trees and flowers blooming everywhere. That is what I love in California is the diversity that comes with it. It was a nice day to be traveling to the Pacific Coast the only nice thing is dealing with traffic in case of a disaster how do you get out of here? Simply you just don't! So for me I am not a huge fan of the city but some of the locations found in the area compare to no other.

I try to do allot of traveling this way I can meet our members and other paranormal groups. Problem is only one person replied to me coming up here and they did not seem very serious. So if you want to help me next time explore and investigate ill be back in April. The entire point of us traveling to other cities is to get others involved with preservation and some of the projects we do so do not be shy. The bay area is not that far from me but I am up in the sierras and life up here its slower for me.

While among the bustling urban life along the coast in a city park is the Sutro Baths or as some call them the pools. I was excited because right away when I arrived in San Fran I just ailed to want to go to the ocean play in the sand and smell the salt water. The Pacific Coast is gorgeous the more of it I see the more in love I become and now every time I come up here I drive along its sheer cliffs overlooking the ocean.

Sutro Baths & Cliff House

Land's End

The Sutro Baths or Pools are over a 100 years old and sit in ruins in a legendary location called Lands End. If you stand up on the cliffs one can see the ruins scattered all the way down to the beach. Some of the ruins are from the old pools and baths while others are from the previous standing Cliff House which has been rebuilt a few times.

Do you know what I chose to visit this location? Simple Sutro is one the prominent names noted in Virginia Cities history. Sutro was the engineer that designed the tunnel that connects some of the Comstock's richest mines and provided ventilation shafts for the miners within them. When his tunnel made him wealthy he then settled down a bit at this very location residing in the Cliff House while enjoying a dip in his pools.

Today the pools sit in a park its bustling joggers, hikers, lovers kissing under a tree and people like me exploring. Ill never have this place to myself alone but to share it with my friends and on my site is a pleasure ill gladly indulge in because this place is simple stunning! There is also nearby up on a hill this old historic building with giant columns then in the front two soldiers on horses.

The history found along here is some of the most relevant in San Francisco's history. I had just came from a place with 25 degree weather and here I was in a park above the ocean smelling flowers. As we hiked down the hill we seen a sign that mentions cars are having multiple break ins. Again another reason I will and do not live in the city because if I caught someone breaking in id have to break them so why even go there!

When you stand up on the cliffs you can see the pools at one time this place was a gigantic swim center or water park over 115 years ago. As many as 20 thousand residents were sunbathing and swimming in the pools below. This swim center had an indoor and outdoor museum, glass domes, cafes and even a restaurant. It was more or less a giant resort that the locals could utilize anytime as the oceans high tide spills into the pools twice a day providing fresh water for the swimmers to enjoy.

I could also see the Cliff House which was to my left on the edge of the giant rock face. The Cliff House I was looking at was the third one the other two burned down and were destroyed. This one was built in the 1960's right on the very site the other two fell at. However the second Cliff House was stunning with seven floors it looked like the mansion in Casper lol. This one is more modernized but I understand that it was built to face storms, fires and high winds but its not as appealing so I did not tour it.

There are allot of steps be careful it is slippery due to sand crystals. Of course I am crazy and ended up running down the hill saying screw those steps but that is me or maybe smarter then others. As you make your way down to the beach you will see a variety of large pools each separated by old cement walls.

There was also some kind of building with many small rooms but only a shell of its former glory remained. Many of the pools had still water as plant life was growing up from the banks and birds used them more or less today as ponds. You would not want to fall in any of the water so if you walk along the walls of the pools if you trip because there are pocks in the cement and cracks your going to fall in. But back in the day the oceans high tide would fill these pools with clear water twice a day.

Today the place looks like a temple with pools of water its pretty cool and you can walk on the walls between the pools. There is also a giant tunnel which Sutro an engineer built. This tunnel goes for a couple hundred feet into the cliffs and comes out on the other side to this hidden rocky beach which is near Shipwreck Rocks where many ships sank and seamen died! The ocean was battering the rocks big time surrounding this entire cliff and tunnel. As a matter in fact when Sutro built his tunnel he crossed into a natural sea cave therefore we could look into it and see the tide coming on in!

If you climb the steps up to the top of the cliffs and above where the tunnel resides you can get great views of the entire area. One can look out into the ocean or left down onto the ruins or across to where the cliff house is suspended along the edge of this rock face. The waves seem to crash against the walls to two pools I found that were off limits. There are warnings not to go near these pools or rocks because people get swept out to sea or get banged up on the rocks thus drowning. Its very dangerous to get near Sutro's Pools closer to this cliffs where his tunnel is located. I believe he built the tunnel for accessibility between the beach and his pools for the patrons.

If you look around hard enough you will find pipes, iron rings, bars and even a few brick walls around. I seen some anchor point as well and a few rusty remnants of the past around. This is a historic site and they have a visitors center where you can buy a historical pamphlet although I already did my fair share of research prior to visiting the site.

Tammy and I were having fun with some of the birds which are abundant here. I seen this sea bird sitting on a wall which seemed to be quite fearless. If you walk on some of the walls there is a point where you have pools on both sides and it gets narrow trust me. I had to leap wall to wall because I was filming while trying to remain balanced the entire time.

There is this area that appears to have a tunnel that leads right out to the ocean. Apparently this may have been drainage or maybe this is how they filled the main pool with ocean water from the tide. Perhaps the tunnel which is partially today collapsed was a means for the swimmers to leave the pool and walk out to the beach below them. Its hard to know what the complex once looked like or what each set of ruins was. Remember they had museums on the property Sutro was really big on history like me therefore he shared it with his patrons who came here.

I had fun climbing all over the walls nobody can blame me its good to get it out of your system. Unfortunately after walking down this wall for a couple hundred feet I had realized I left my back up batteries in the car so I had to hike all the way to the top of the cliffs and back to the vehicle lol. I did eventually get the chance to stand below the Cliff House.

The Cliff House had many politicians and even presidents visit here. It was a place where celebrities dined and even Kings sipped wine.  It had ball rooms, fancy bars, dining areas, beautiful balconies overlooking the ocean and in itself was a resort that offered its visitor recreational opportunities. Today its just a restaurant that overlooks the Sutro Pools Ruins and ocean.

I was just happy to walk on the beach I feel like I am a pirate or in some pirate movie only difference is instead of the hook or fence I am armed with a trusty tripod lol. But I set it up to get a couple photos of us on the beach however the sun was going down I did not have much time. I still had to hike up to Fort Miley which resides much higher up above Land's End.

My time here was not long enough but I did find a mutilated large bird carcass probably killed from a local tom cat or maybe even a bobcat. The trees are very large and the park does have some woodsy patches. I am sure that the local stray cats time to time stray down to the ruins to catch a bird. There are so many birds that just stand on all the walls staring and plotting our deaths lol.

There are also wood pylons that protrude out of some of the walls however I only seen one or two stumps the rest were just small wooden spikes. In simple terms the years of wind and sand erosion have basically sanded down the pylons severely. But one can see a very smooth pylon then a few feet later a small two inch wind worn wood stub sticking up from the concrete. Again very easy to stumble on if you fall your going to fall into some nasty black algae filled pools with allot of bird shit. TRUTH!

There is also some building up on a steep hill and you can look into one of the rooms. You can see where the old Cliff House was as below the new one there are pillars and foundation ruins from the large French Chateau that once existed at this very spot. There is a giant wall facing the ocean you can sit up there reflect take photos of birds its really nice believe me. If you hike deeper in along the cliffs you can see the Golden Gate bridge.

There is a plaque that talks about the natives who once lived here and one can see why. Sadly most of them were wiped out by the Spaniards carrying disease and spreading it. The thing is that Land's End which is part of Point Lobos has allot of history. It also has allot of tales of tragedy such as when the SS Rio De Janeiro sank killing 128 people in a matter of minutes not far from here. I believe but its in theory that there could be ghost that haunt the shores, pools and this gem which is tucked away between these cliffs along the ocean.

I can take EVP's and photos only hoping for the best but it excites me knowing that the history here runs deep. At one time this massive building stood over the pools and the Cliff house stood seven stories high with a massive tower in the front of it. Adolph Sutro a millionaire probably stood from the top of the cliffs with a cigar just as I did. You cant discount the paranormal anywhere I am sure there are ghost stories associated with this place perhaps people who drowned in these pools and in the icy waters of the pacific ocean just a few feet away. Throw in a couple ghostly angry pirates and a few ancient natives who protect this sacred ground!

I know one thing I am not done with this place just yet I want to check out Sutro Heights which even resides higher up above the Cliff House and Pools. When Sutro served as mayor he was also a real estate tycoon just like Donald Trump but allot more honest and realistic! lol But anyhow with all humor aside he built an empire along these cliffs. What is Sutro Heights? Sutro Heights Park was the estate of Adolph Sutro, land developer and a mayor of San Francisco. The estate once contained many Romanists statues and a plant conservatory. Id like to see that on my next visit or two.

I just feel there is allot more to see and did not have enough time to see it all. Although I hate the city let me tell you guys something. This place is a gem hidden within urban life. The woods, coast line, beautiful sunset over the giant rocks out in open water and historic sites are freaking amazing! I do allot of adventuring and traveling so this place gets an 11 out of 10 believe me when I say that!

I am not sure if I had gotten any EVP or a strange picture but I am an explorer. I go to these places to experience them and to share my journeys with others. We do that through our photography, reports, video and stories that we share. It also allows others to visit these locations and also show an interest in the history they offer. This place is urbex all the way but there are some very spooky ghost stories also associated with it. So for me to be here and a part of it all gave me pure enjoyment.

I would however move on the sun was glistening off the ocean the sun was going down fast and I wanted some shots at dusk of old Fort Miley.

Sutro Baths today is long gone however ithe pools are now inhabited by a variety of bird life more or less they provide an eco system for nature found on Land's End. Back around the time of the natives their were quite a few predators that roamed the coastline here.  Not so much today but I did come across a few birds on the ground that may have washed up or were attacked by a local neighborhood cat.  Many years ago however this was not the case locals had claimed to find a series of giant tracks with claw marks. More then often allot of dead birds and other animals were found in the tunnels mutilated!

The one thing I really love about the Pacific Coast is that its full of rocky crags and formations along the shoreline. Allot of times seals will come to rest on the rocks and great white sharks will swim around them looking to snatch a meal. These rocks only reside a couple hundred feet from the Sutro Baths and from a certain angle one might see the hole within the formations to look more like a heart. The islands off of the Cliff House are supposed to be where the ghost lady is sighted but such rocks also meant death for certain ships that collided with them which led to certain death!

More then likely the picture above is a military jet as Land's End is a great place to not only watch the Blue Angels but many other military air craft as well. The reason why I posted the photo is to show our viewers that even though some objects in our skies may look like triangular UFOs most of the time they turn out to be military aircraft like in this instance. Do not get me wrong UFOs for decades have been sighted along the coastline from San Francisco all the way down to LA. When I was exploring the Sutro Baths and hiking around lands end I could not help notice that many military air craft were flying in formation so I captured a few photos below. As with the photo above though I did not realize I captured a jet far out over the ocean and at first glance I thought wow I captured a UFO. Till we ran further test studies and compared them with the photos below thus solving the mystery!
