The Caretakers Cottage was built before the year of 1890. It has a steeply pitched roof, board and batten siding, the original bay window and porches on the east and south side. Many of the doors and windows had been modified or changed over the years and the interior had gone through much modernization. The Instone House nearby had not changed as much as this cottage had.

For quite a few years this house served as a post office for Oak Hill and if you were to look at it you could actually see it being one. The cottage sits right along mosquito Lagoon. I was actually on the roof of the second story overlooking the lagoon what an amazing view almost like something you would see from a movie.

Nearby a wooden dock once extended out into the Intercoastal Waterway. But eventually it was replaces with a boat dock and designated on the national registry as "noncontributing" cause all the pilings remained the same on the dock. You can see the dock today it has a garage built right on top of it.

The cottage was perhaps was built so that the owner could live on the grounds and maintain Seminole Rest. Its not a big house perhaps one bathroom, small den, kitchen, and a couple rooms. The outside looks very new you could not even tell its age till you walk in and walk along its old wood floors. The activity within the house is very mild but since this is more closer to Fiddler Crab Mound where more artifacts were found it does sit on a place of energy. So alot more here awaits to be discovered in this old historical cottage.
