The Roger's Christmas & Village is actually 5 separate houses all joined together. Each house is roughly a century old its rumored that the premises are haunted. That is all I know so overtime maybe fans will submit more history and information. The five houses are the Xmas House, Storybook Land, Christmas Cottage, Little House Under The Big Oak, and The Brides House built in 1887. The Brides house is the oldest brought in three pieces from a few blocks away. Some call the brides house the Magnolia House.

The xmas house opened in 1972 its a place of love and joy. At night it is closed so please respect the property we merely brought this to you for the younger crowd to enjoy.  Let me tell you about each house a little its not much but will give you an idea of what we saw in the windows.

The Xmas House has nativity scenes, ornaments, china, crystal, candles and holiday decor. Then the Storybook House looks like a winter wonderland with white tree limbs and twinkling lights for story time. This house has kids books, ornaments, baby gifts, plush animals, toys and games. The Magnolia House has food products...kitchen gadgets....and gift books. That house is holiday scented as you walk around. The Christmas Cottage has tropical gifts and a Biscayne room. The House Under The Oak Tree has novelty lights....villages...and snowbabies. There is also some sports and music themed trees as well as men's gifts.

Basically its one giant retail shop and they are closed on Christmas. I read conflicting articles that the village has been closed due to the high cost of operating it with there 3,000 dollar electric bills. Another article says that the founder of it Margaret "Weenie" Rogers Ghiotto passed away in 2006. She was responsible for the planting of hundreds of trees in Brooksville and the restoration of over 12 historical homes.  She was called Weenie by her sister cause she was a tiny lady. She was a good woman helping out kids...doing videos of the xmas house in other languages...guiding teenagers etc she passed in 2006 due to a series of strokes.

Today the house sits up on a hill it seems to be forgotten not sure if its even open the grounds are kept nice with its lush gardens...trees that canopy over the homes...and walkways. But it does not feel alive perhaps because its founder is no longer here with us or perhaps she still is?  To learn more about the Christmas House and purchase some souvenirs from them please visit www.rogerschristmashouse.com as of Dec. 2007 month end they have reopened there doors!
