Ponce DeLeon Fountain Of Youth
I really wanted to visit here in hopes that if I drank the water my gray hairs would finally go away haha. But we entered the main gates and there was a very tall wall surrounding this place. We were very excited to visit here because the place really served as one of the first landmarks in St. Augustine and from there the city developed.
We entered the ground and walked to the entrance of some oddly shaped building which looked like it sold snacks, tickets and things of that sort. The building had flickering Christmas lights on inside so it kind of felt weird to walk inside of it but at least we did not have to purchase tickets here.
We took the walkway to the spring house which is a very old building which contains the spring and fountain of youth. We unfortunately were not able to get into the Spring House so I guess I am just going to have to accept the fact that in a few more months my birthday is coming and I am getting old lol.
We noticed upon walking around the gardens that there were all kinds of artifacts and signs you could read. They tried to perhaps give it a Timucuan Indian Village setting. There also was a pond with a giant statue. Aaron and I walked up to the statue and to my right was a bird which I thought was part of the statue till it turned its head and looked at me. The bird turned out to be an Emu. An Emu is a cousin of the Ostrich but still these birds can attack and this one we encountered was very large. Aaron got pretty close to it then I took a photo.
We then took the walkway which guided us to some civil war cannons. We took some photos and basically we were just enjoying the sightseeing. There was even a clay pot and anchor which was giant in size. It was pretty quiet on the grounds and mildly haunted.
I took quite a few photos here then we walked up the spring house sat down so I could change batteries in my camera. We then headed on off and I jumped off an 8 foot wall and landed on my feet. I was quite pleased with my landing maybe its not the water that makes you feel young maybe its the air surrounding this place I breathed in lol. We then visited our final destination of the night which was St. Augustine Historic Park.
