Last night was a very special investigation and adventure. Over the years
of doing this I have found that every journey I take is different or
unique in its own way perhaps. Its always the special ones you never
forget. On a Saturday night most people spend it at a night club
however I spend most of my Saturday nights looking for things that go bump
in the night and sometimes we see things sometimes we do not But last
night was a very special journey as we toured what they call old Florida.
An area that is full of old wagon trails...historic
cemeteries...woods...and lore. Its not just old Florida that makes our
investigation unique its the fact that a very rare occurrence has happened
inside our solar system and that is comet Holmes is the brightest object
in the sky because the sun had heated up its nucleus causing the gases to
burst thus right now its the size of Jupiter. So to be able to hiking
around at night with the comet above us just added to the adventure. I
would not pass it up for the world.
Despite our hardships we did pull off six investigations of Peniel Church
Cemetery, Bardin, Etoniah Cemetery, Providence Baptist Cemetery,
Union Grove Cemetery, & Finally St. Joseph's Palatka Cemetery. Its
actually been awhile since we did some real old cemeteries in rural areas
so I thought it would make a good story with the comet looming over us.
Perhaps the most unique place we visited thought was Bardin home of the
Bardin Booger a place with almost twenty years of legends of a creature
that stalks its woods.
When I moved here four years ago I wanted to journey around this area
searching for the Bardin Booger as he is also sighted near or around these
cemeteries so you see everything has a connection even on our
investigations. So after a four year long way I finally would have my
opportunity to check into this.
I have to admit its been a great couple months as far as investigations
go. We been to a lot of places and it looks like before I leave Florida I
will have made my own mark in history. We once again short handed for the
investigation quite sad really how people have no sense of
adventure...people do not contact you to come on out....nobody wants to
volunteer...some are to scared....others are in love with the idea but
procrastinate...while others just enjoy to look at the photos and have us
do all the dirty work.
I have come to realize that its very hard trying to put together a
group of solid friends and team in Florida. Even if people are not so much
into the paranormal they sure lack the sense of adventure period.
The only one who has been coming out for our investigations is Donna and
as far as the people go on my local paranormal forums well their is no
hope lol hence why I am moving good things cannot last if those good
things are not valued just remember that and so my adventure to old
Florida had begun!
Peniel
Cemetery
I did a pretty good job at being on time to meet up with Donna
considering I had to stop to put air in the tires.....make a pot of coffee
for the trip.....and stop to get some gas money at like a few stores cause
they would not cash my check. With gas prices going up some of you are
going to have to start allying with me and teaming up its a lot cheaper to
travel as a group where everybody pitches in. Back in my day in NY at
times we would have 4 to 5 people per investigation and back then it was a
lot cheaper to travel to various places. So anyway's I headed on off to
Northern Florida. I made double chocolate chunk fudge brownies for the
road so you bet your ass I was all set. If the Bardin Booger were to eat
me I would at least know I died on a full stomach lol.
Hell I almost did not make it to see the Bardin Booger. You see I went to
pass this slow truck I gave him a few miles and he just would not go any
faster. So I went to pass him and this is a bad road to pass people on a
lot of hills...curves...and oncoming traffic. Well as I was passing him a
car was coming head on with me lets put it this way I was only a couple
hundred feet away from a head on collision. I drive a beat up old foreign
car right now and sometimes she doesn't always go as fast as I like and
well in this case my car wasn't letting me get up its RPMs I
barely made it around that truck. It was a rush and trust me if my
kids were in the car or other investigators I wouldn't have done it but I
was by myself. But this is a dangerous road a lot of the small towns have
drunk drivers...and if you do not pass at the right timing your screwed.
Anyway's I made it up to Palatka the river city....its also very historic.
I had arrived at Walmart and Donna was waiting at McDonalds she would take
over as the driver for the evening.
We left Walmart after loading up Donna drove this is her area so she is
more familiar with it and its also a very nice area of Florida because
everything in this region is historical...older....woodsy, ghost towns,
fort sites and rural. Donna already knew how to get to the cemetery
so my directions were not needed for this place. We parked at the old
church their was some event going on. Donna was worried about the gates
being closed but the thing about these cemeteries is they don't lock them
as opposed to city cemeteries. Donna has some she knows buried here its
one of the oldest cemeteries in that county as well.
Towards the back of the cemetery you could see solar lights on some of the
stones. It was rather gloomy here and right away we came around some brush
and I could sense a spot that was much cooler then all the rest. We
followed at first graves along the fence to our left..then started to work
our way to the center and back of the cemetery.
I had the cassette player going for EVP's I do however lose a lot of them
because its old and not in very good shape. If I had my digital one it
would help but that came up missing a couple years back. So I had that
going Donna was taking EMF readings...and I pretty much blasted the
cemetery with photos. A lot of the graves here were very old and unique.
Some of them were leaning against trees...while others were broke in half
and leading on its base.
I noticed dead center in the cemetery all the stones were close together
and most were illegible. I sensed out about three separate cold spot areas
all in the older areas here. I do not remember anything to much about it
being haunted I heard a branch beak and other then that it was very quiet
here. There was a few areas with wrought iron plots which the gate
was off the hinges and it was terrible rusted.
I also remember seeing one stone that was crumbled to pieces. So if your
really into old cemeteries with giant oak trees and historic churches this
would be the place. It was kind of funny walking around this cemetery.
Because across the street I could hear drums, dancing and Indian chanting.
I believe that the native American people perhaps were holding some sort
of ceremony or drum circle. The chanting was pretty good Donna said it
could be the high school but I don't think the students know how to chant
lol so I took it as some sort of drum circle. They have one near my house
out this way so pretty cool to listen to it while exploring this old
burial ground.
Donna took my photo near a statue then we took photos of the front gate
and left. It was not a place we could stay to long as it is someone
leaving a church event sat in their car and refused to pull out cause I
know they seen the flash. Some people see a flash and they think hey
something ghostly is happening when in reality its just us taking photos.
So at that point it was time to head on out and so we left for Bardin.
