On a peninsula extending out between the Atlantic Ocean and The Halifax river exist a little harbor called Mosquito or Ponce Inlet a cemetery sits in a jungle like setting. This hidden cemetery was dedicated to the first settlers of the inlet. Less then an acre in size the cemetery is very easy to miss and fairly hard to locate especially at night.

The earliest burial dates back to 1898 by a man with the name Bartola C. Pacetti and the latest burial is 1990 of a lady named Hon. Martha E.  Gore which was the first female judge in the state of Florida. Although records indicate 9 burials here only 8 stones are visible I thought this was quite odd upon doing my research on this place. When walking around this cemetery it is noticeable that all the graves are very close together with names like Gardner, Gore, Wilson and Pacetti engraved on them all I am sure related in some way. One of the burials is that of a WWII Marine Corps Soldier who is also a permanent resident here.

It is very apparently that the cemetery does not get to many visitors although there is a old bench that sits within the cemetery which sits on a little hill. In my opinion I think because of this the cemetery is much more active as it draws in various unseen friends. But its not just the cemetery that is haunted its about the whole inlet in my opinion that is haunted. The cemetery is so close to the lighthouse just standing inside of it one could look at the lighthouse. There is a gloomy feeling surrounding the cemetery is it the Pacetti family or does something else lurk the area? Read about Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and find out more information about the area to find out more about this area.
