The Oviedo Ghost Light also know as the Chuluota Light is fairly well known by central Floridians. Their are books about it and years of stories about people seeing a greenish hazy blob of light that rises up and fades away. Some have said that the light chases people. Some say that the lights vary from blue, to white, and sometimes even yellow. But the area was studied and they found out that the lights are caused by swamp gas caused by decaying bio-mass which releases methane gas into the air. I did see this phenomena but I seen it on the road which leaves me in further question here.

The general area that the ghost lights are seen is along the shores of the Econlockhatchee river which is a Seminole Indian term meaning River of many Mounds. One of those mounds is said to be under the bridge. The ghost lights are often sighted on the bridge and along the shores of the river. So in case you are wondering from our first investigation why it took place on/off the bridge this is the reason. Of course on both sides are swamps and heavily wooded with 5,000 acres so anything out of the norm could be in their. I also found another area nearby that is said to also be well known for the ghost lights so we may check out that eventually to.

The area however has more then just ghost their is Owls, Bats, Armadillo's, Raccoons, Chucks, Deer, and even Bear perhaps. The area is full of cypress forest, pines, oaks and wet lands also. We seen a gator float right down the river just staring at us. The state forest surrounding the area interest me perhaps cause as much as we are on the quest for the unseen we also are on a quest to find the Skunk Ape.

Before 1996 their used to be two double wooden bridges going across the river. Eventually they built a concrete one to replace them both. Their is a rumor that a young boy committed suicide from the bridge and people see his ghost on and under the bridge. I could feel a strong presence around the bridge I do believe that this was him. He killed himself after losing his love. Unfortunately heartbreak can be painful and make you do things you normally would not do.

The area is very ancient and was once home to the Indians. It is perhaps strange so strange that even the locals do not stay around long to experience what this haunted bridge/road have to offer. Unfortunately the Oviedo Light does not get as much attention as the Brown Mountain Lights. No matter people will always argue as to what they could be for us however all we can do is investigate. Since this area has many Indian mounds it is more then likely many ghost surround this area.
