The Ormond Burial Mound was saved with some of the efforts of the local community and even the street it sits on was named after it. The site was made into a park in 1982 however prior to it being saved there were talks about moving the burial ground elsewhere. Do to excavations it was estimated that the mound dated back to the late St. Johns period or roughly 800 A.D. and contained at least 100 burials.

On the site at one time was a Charnel house which was a structure to store the bodies prior to being buried. The native Americans along the St. Johns river would prepare the corpses of higher ranking tribal members for example a chief or shaman. The deceased would be laid out on wooden racks and would decompose. Then a high priest would carefully remove the flesh off the body as it decayed from the bones. When the bodies dried away and full decomposed the bones were cleaned. Then they would bundle them up and bury them in the mound during various special ceremonies so perhaps this explains why so may skeletons were found here. The layers of sand separated the bones eventually building up a mound. Today it is one of the most well intact burial mounds in the state of Florida.

Over the years I am aware some other ghost groups investigated the mound but very few either took photos or took the interest I did as we will be returning to work with the entities here which seem to be very abundant. There is stories about balls of light being spotted here and I did walk on the mound its very massive. There is a sense of peace here after all the bodies were treated very well by the early native Americans. Perhaps what made this unique is it was our first Indian mound we visited despite the fact we visited many Indian burial grounds up north this one was an actual mound where we could walk on it, take readings, and Investigate it knowing that it was still all intact. So I do want to thank Amanda and Steve for showing me where it is.
