Honestly I do not have much history on this cemetery just that its the actual first and oldest public burial cemetery in Ocala. Many of the graves date back to the mid 1800s some are broke, some are tipped, some are sections off by walls with weeds growing threw them. The cemetery was reserved in 1850 for Ocala residents and contains members of the Marion County Seat. The cemetery was also founded to contain both Confederate and Union soldiers during the civil war.

I have heard by quite a few people that the cemetery is haunted and people have come out of here with some EVP. Its one of these type of cemeteries you walk in it gets real cold you feel totally surrounded no matter where you go.

The black section to the cemetery is across the street which has only a few old graves spread out. The cemetery is on both sides of the road and has wrought iron fencing with a giant wrought iron sign that over hangs the entrance. There are some free and some who were slaves buried here.

The area is almost downtown so its fairly obviously one reason why its so run down probably many vandals struck it over the years. But we had to investigate this place after all it is a huge part of Ocala's history.
