Our Lady Of La Leche Chapel,Shrine & Historical Cemetery

By far this has got to be the best place I ever journeyed around in Saint Augustine and I am not even a man of religion. I parked my car and hiked in after mass was over. The people cleared on out and Lord Rick came on in haha.

I wanted to visit here for a few years but thought the fountain of youth was it a few years ago so I never looked into it till I seen some research on an abandoned cemetery. I thought hmmm abandoned huh...so I figured I would hike off in the back seek it out little did I know this was the first shrine in the country....the site of the Menendez Coffin....and a historical cemetery that has graves from the 1700's in it.

I started my hike over this bridge there were beautiful lakes and ponds back in here. The great cross which is a couple hundred feet high was lit up off on a peninsula. I was walking just chilling and thought I seen to my left a white gravestone. Man was I getting happier then a kid in a candy store because I realize that this was no abandoned cemetery but tranquil grounds with statues, a historical chapel, benches, gazebo...and some of the oldest graves in the area. There was a fountain...walkways...some of the trees were very old shading most of the sky in the cemetery.

There was various historic plaques and the famous St. Francis Statue. Lets put it this way...when the explorers came to this country this site is about as famous as where Columbus landed at Plymouth Rock. The Spanish landed here right where the cemetery stands...kissing the cross thus forming Saint Augustine.

Some of the graves were broke...weathered...cracked..and some were just piles of rocks depicting religious images. I focused a lot on the chapel and I heard something make a loud noise inside. That chapel at night is not only locked up but is closed to any human being including those who operate the grounds. I read the plaque about how this was the grounds called Mission Nombre De Dios and I took my time here no rush believe me.

I felt like ghost were up in the trees as things were falling out of them barely hitting me no matter where I walked it was sort of hilarious. One landed right next to me super hard with such force that if it hit me probably would have caused me to have a cut or bump.

I stood up at the alter hung onto a cross..walked to the front gates with a stone pillar and cross....even walked along the water where boats were anchored off shore drifting in the dark. The moon came out completely then I went to the great cross...and visited the shrine of Guadeloupe and some historical mosaics.

I then went back to the cemetery again for one last walk around wanted to get photos of almost every grave. This time I read some graves and could not believe that some of the names are some of the places I investigated a few years back like the 6 sisters buried here I did the convent for example.

It was a great place and I heard some movement to it seemed active consistently when I was here. On my way out I cut across the giant open clearing there was a lake to my back when I heard a dog growl and bark at me. I was pretty startled because it was a matter of a few feet away and when I turned I seen NOTHING no dog. I been thinking about that one all night. On my way back out to the road it was getting late girls were stumbling drunk in there costumes I was like hmmmm maybe I need to toke one on up ha.

It was an awesome place you will see the photos the best believe me when I say it perfect investigation. I just wish I had a bigger team for filming...evp etc I cant do it cause I got nobody to help or others with various equipment. I then went to Barnes Cemetery.
