A man by the name of Robert M. McTureous Sr and his wife Bessie also known as Aunt Bessie in the Altoona community had a son by the name of Robert M. McTureous Jr.  During WWII he died from wounds he received in Okinawa Japan. A retired Marine Sgt named Joseph A. Stich who was retired wanted to honor the  Medal Of Honor recipient so he had a memorial put across from Robert McTureous Jr's childhood home. Which today is used as a museum where others can learn all about Lake County and this fallen hero who was the only one to receive the Medal Of Honor in lake country Florida.

The memorial is quite large and really stands out when your driving past this place perhaps that is what caught our interest here. The memorial site also was made in the park which is almost 3 acres in size. There is a playground here, museum, the memorial and many people come here just to picnic and pay there respects to this Marine. A large 37mm gun was put in front of the monument to watch over it.

This haunted site seems to be very friendly no anger, sadness nothing of the sort. This is a real happy place and investigating it our first times brought us alot of good laughs. It seemed like the ghostly presence here was evening having fun with us. I do believe it to be Robert McTureous since he was around our age when he passed on he probably was alot like Lee and I. I could feel him having fun with us as I climbed up on the gun and was playing in the playground.

It seems that perhaps being dead and alive is no different since honestly this park proves that although we may take different shape or form we truly are indeed alike.
