Lone Mountain composed of limestone sits on the north west end of Las Vegas just outside the Spring Mountain range all by its lonesome self.  I can step out of my driveway from where I am currently staying and see it down the road a few miles away. Its not as tall as many of the mountains surrounding the valley but since it is near the spring mountains you can easily get one of the best views of Las Vegas from its peak and be level with the stratosphere tower. Their is alot of smog in Vegas it shows as even with the naked eye structures like the Luxor, Stratosphere etc are poorly visible. However their is an amazing view of the spring mountains, Summerlin, red rock canyon etc from the top of this historic landmark.

At the base of the mountain is Discovery Park which has 16 historical signs on the area surprisingly they did not cover every point of interest. Its really scenic to play tennis and see this giant steep mountain a few hundred feet away. Lone mountain is extremely steep this was what it was an urban exploration into one of Las Vegas's most prestigious mountains. Slowly many of the empty patches of desert surrounding the mountain are become residential areas. Years ago when I resided in Vegas nothing existed around the mountain. It sits on the edge of the Spring Mountains and rises to about 3300 feet from a 2600 foot base.

Today the mountain has many dirt bike paths that groove in and out of its graceful form. Their is a natural trail cut right into the mountain made of stone. I had an idea but did not know this and ended up climbing up the side of the mountain everything from cliff climbing, hands and knees, steep inclines etc to get to its peak.

Some of the cactuses grow sideways the peak is different then the ground of the mountain. At the peak their are bees, butterflies, and other insects. On parts of the mountain palms grow....just as these red plants. Some parts of the mountain look as if they been mined as if parts of the mountain were carved out. I know factually that not to far from the base is a smaller mountain or should we say quarry that was mined for its aggregate by The Las Vegas Paving corp. the largest in the area.

General Fremont was one of the first white explorers and men to explore this mountain. He stood once on its peak. The peak is dressed with spray paint, etched rocks, even a hand print. I started to etch my name into stone and well I got side tracked because I was excited doing videos for our members.

I did not risk my life in vain I wanted this exploration to serve as a lesson to those who want to get involved with UE. Make sure you have the right equipment...never go by yourself....have plenty of fluids....wear proper footwear. I must say I broke all those rules and I solely based everything on my know how and skill from all these years of climbs, hikes, and being patient.

Their is no way to climb this mountain fast alot of loose rocks at times small cliffs even drop offs that could easily lead to death. The problem is due to its structure it works in tiers. If we say you lost footing up a steep incline you would roll go off a cliff fall 50 feet then roll off another it could be devastating. I lost footing almost my foot start to slip I had no bottoms to my shoes everything I did was upper body strength and when I arrived on the peak I said to myself its time to take the trail down which is very steep with alot of loose stones.

My exploration tells a story of bravery on the next page not only will you read what I endured but you will see the entire exploration from start to finish...the mountains base....resting halfway up the mountain by a cliff....strange things found along the way etc it is a story a documentary of my entire journey. The videos might be even more valuable to our browsers as they are done by me with suspense of not knowing what could happen to me next.

I know Lone Mountain has a cave in an overhang could not believe I found it. The mountain has a few peaks the next smaller peak has a flag on it.  I thought to myself only if I had a pirate flag to put in its place haha become king of the mountain. You find its easier to climb to the top because that is your goal with any mountain get to the peak and see what the view is like. Things became smaller and smaller as I went higher not being able to see the top from where I was at.

You have not lived life till one day you can get up and say that is the mountain I am conquering just like the General did at one time. I do find the mountain a little strange as their are many other cave entrances which some you cannot get to without proper gear. But the ones you can get to are collapsed which makes you wonder what is inside Lone Mountain.....or who...bones....ghost...or perhaps even ancient history?

I am Lord Rick and this journey you will partake on  will give you an inside look to The Paranormal & Ghost Societies glory of bringing you one of the most well known landmarks in the history of Las Vegas. I give to you Lone Mountain a very special addition to our site dedicated to Urban Exploration and I hope my perseverance will spread amongst other explorers and that those browsing these addition can learn a little something about the hidden powerful messages within I am spreading!

When I walked up to this mountain and I looked at the cliff I thought can it be done each step I took was a step closer to reaching the top!!
